At least one of the local store chains has them on sale for the first week every time they get a new year's load. =D

Wow, I didn't see that price... >.< That's a bit steep, even for me. Are they much bigger or something, or is LEGO just raising the price again because of shipping costs?

They also had the Phantoka listed as $13, so I doubt that that's their real price.

That's bad. 13 is an unlucky number. But I really hope that's not the real price; I don't think I'll be able to get as many each year if it is.

Inflation isn't 3 bucks in 6 months. And as far as "more parts"....do you think the Mistika will have 30% more parts?

I don't think it's inflation, heck, I don't think it's actually serious. The Phantoka are doing way better than expected, there's no reason to overprice the Mistika.

The price of sets has been static for the past several years, and I believe the number of parts per set has been rising. And since the sets are breaking away from clone-designs, sets cost more to produce due to more research and such costs. The rise in cost has been begging to happen for a while now, though a $3 jump is a tad much, I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason for it.

Yeah...I'm crunching the numbers, and the results are fairly interesting. I'll have some results up either tonight or tomorow.

Either way, I'm putting the whole "More pieces = higher cost" baby to bed.
