As promised, here are the rules, please read through them all.

General Rules and Regulations
  1. All characters may be played, including unlockable characters.
  2. If a player doesn't make contact with their opponent for their match, or myself it will go down as a forfeit.
  3. In the case of a console/TV/Routing malfunction, the match will be restarted from the beginning, no matter what time it crashed.
  4. Entrants must conduct themselves in a reasonable manner. Basically show respect to all players on BZPower and off BZPower. Permanent ejection of a player from the tournament is at Kohaku's discretion.
  5. Any intentional forfeiting or conspiring to manipulate the rankings/brackets will result in ejection.
  6. Any other sign of cheating will also result in forfeit of the game.
  7. Players' chosen gamer tags, must be of "good taste." So make all names appropriate.
  8. Players' chosen taunts, must be of "good taste." So make all taunts appropriate.
  9. If necessary, rules will be added in the future.
  10. All decisions made by Kohaku are final and not subject to debate.

Controllers
  1. All Controller styles may be used.

Tournament Rules
  1. The tournament brackets will be single elimination.
  2. The top player from each match will move on to the next round.

Match Specific Rules
  1. Matches will be timed 2-Minute battles.
  2. All stages may be used including unlockable stages. Please choose Random each time.
  3. All items will be used, set at a medium appearance level.
  4. No Handicaps

Matches
For each match I will send each participant a PM telling them who their opponent is. The two battlers will then contact each other and decide on the best time for the match. After the match is over and a winner has been determined both participants must send me a PM.
The PM must include the following:
  1. Result, who won and who lost
  2. Characters each of you were
  3. Stage played on
  4. Anything else you feel is worth noting

This format allows players to play each match when they have time for it, that way I'm not forcing you to play at a set time. ;)

Each round will last about a week, those who haven't contacted me or their opponent risk being ejected! If you are unable to battle you can forfeit be sending me a PM, doing so this way results in no penalties.

One idea I've been toying with is saving replays of each match. And then sending them to me and I'll put them up for download and for Brawl owners to watch. I'd like some opinions on this idea...

Good rules, they seem fair.

I like the idea of the entrants setting the times for the matches, makes things go better.

Replays could be fun, too. So I'm for it.

Time matches?

Items?

All stages?

Broken rules. If a Fox gets Hyrule or New Pork... GG

Time matches work better for replays, if a majority of entrants want that changed I would consider it.

Yes, items. Those things that keep things random, fun, and allow people of all skill levels to have a chance.

Yes, all stages, it gives something I call variety.

Besides if anyone tries to be really cheap like that I will disqualify them.

Of course you forgot the main thing... this isn't a professional tournament. It is for fun. Honestly I like the rules, and those that I've talked to so far, also like them. And that is what is important.

The rules are not broken, they are perfect for the type of tournament I've wanted. A tournament with standard matches that anyone can play in.

Can you do stock battles if you set a time limit for them?

Slota

Not for the tournament. All matches have to be played the same way to help make things fair.

When will the first bracket be released?

The first bracket will be released once everyone is confirmed. At the latest a few days before the tournament.

Rules sound good. I'm going to be buying brawl this weekend without a doubt. I will get my friend code to you ASAP.

Sounds good. :)

Rules seem fair to me, and I think replays could be fun too. Till then I must practice some more time battles, though, since I've grown too used to stock... Should be fun anyways. :)
