Senior Skip Day
My school has a tradition that, one day of the year, none of the seniors come to school. That day is also always the day of the Senior Prank(s). It's usually quite interesting – depending on the quality of the pranks – and then there's always an interesting few minutes halfway through the day when all the Seniors show up in cars and drive around and around the school, horns blaring.
Since half my friends are seniors, and I spent most of yesterday afternoon with a bunch of them (seeing The Merry Widow, which was amazing) this year I knew about most of what they were going to do. But it was still great, because they threw in some surprises that actually were good pranks...
One, there was a pig. That's all you need to know. Two, they hung a giant "2008" above the entrance of the school. Three, they filled the entranceway with balloons. Four, and this was best after the pig, they unscrewed two feet from every desk in the History rooms, resulting in every single desk being wobbly. Which really was a great prank. :3
But this year, the Juniors had our revenge! (We're the smallest class, and they're the biggest, so they're always overshadowing us.) After the Seniors' drive-by, they all went and parked in the parking lot and then came up to the school. During that brief time, Mike got his car and drove it up to block the entrance to the parking lot, so none of them could get out. It was absolutely hilarious.
Henry, I, and a bunch of other people were laughing hysterically for about fifteen minutes straight as the reverse-prank progressed. First, the two of us went out to see if Mike had done it. Then, after he did, we ran back inside and ran into a few more people, who all joined us. Then we went to watch from a stairwell just in time to see the Seniors coming back out and going to their cars. A few of them noticed right away, and a couple even drove up to Mike's car and had to stop. It was amazing.
The seniors did spray-paint "2008" all over the windows, and one of the janitors made Mike move the car a few minutes later (we Juniors all came out to watch, cheering Mike on), but still, that was one of the funniest things I've ever participated in...
Next year, our senior pranks are going to be epic. And today actually was oddly like next year, since we were the highest grade in the school... and so many of my classes had almost no people in them, which was great; we could just do things at our liesure, and then the weather was nice enough that we could spend 9th period and after lunch out on the field... *contented sigh*
One last awesome day before we start worrying and studying and such for APs in May, I suppose. But it really was absolutely amazing.
