I agree completely. The stuff some people do with Lego is incredible. And deserves the same respect as paintings and sculptures, IMO.

It's art to those whoever builds it. Just because it doesn't look like art to you, it could look great to someone else. Remember when you^{(as in all of us)} used to build really "bad" MOCs, yet we thought they were the greatest things ever? Those were still art.

If people consider making full-scale replicas of the Great Wall Of China out of playing cards an art, then there's no reason to assume otherwise of a far more complex and expansive building system.

 

So yes, it is an art.

 

And before someone says "but children don't play with playing cards", there are quite a few card games using generic playing cards for children. And adults who build stuff with Lego bricks don't even play with them, to my knowledge.
