Amazing Day

It's going to be so weird next week when we actually meet for Latin (not that we're doing anything but watching movies). By an odd combination of circumstances, we haven't had it since Monday, and it's been awesome... actually, this needs an introductory explanation.

Introductory Explanation: our AP Euro and World History teacher, VMC, is retiring this year. She is amazing. So awesome. Everyone loves her. She's the emblem of an eccentric history teacher. She's obsessed with the Mona Lisa. She goes windsurfing. She lifts weights. She sits in on the French class every day. She was a model when she was in college. She has the most adorable voice ever. In accordance with all this, Adam decided to make a tribute movie to her, which a few of us (me included) agreed with and have been helping him.

Anyway. Back to the anecdote. On Tuesday, Adam (also in Latin) and I rounded up Ian and Marc to start filming the movie. It involved an interview of Marc about VMC's influence on global trade and her role in the Russian Revolution, and ended with me killing Marc (disguised as the Mona Lisa?). Then Wednesday Leigh Ann and I spent the Latin period in the library reading the yearbook (which came out yesterday!) and discussing the Senior Most-Likelies and which ones were good and bad.

Tomorrow's this school event-thing put on by the sophomores (and involving the crowning and pinning of the seniors), so they were rehearsing during the Latin Period That We Have Free Now. VMC instructs them in the Sword Dance, one of the events, so today we went down there to watch and then film her when she and the boys were practicing.

Hilarity ensued. Most of it is funny only if you know everyone and everything involved, so I'll be brief. I had stolen one of the extra Swords (really just a long piece of wood). At one point Henry showed up and stole the doll out of my hands and ran away, resulting in a dramatic chase scene. At one point he ran through a crowd of the sophomore boys, standing around because they couldn't practice at the moment, so I got to run through them brandishing a sword, which was so much fun. Made perfect because everyone spun around to watch us and VMC squawked out "Where did you get one of those??" Eventually I caught up with him while he was trying to hide. It was great.

And then the actual filming of VMC and the Sword Dance occured. We're wondering when people are going to start noticing that there are a bunch of juniors showing up where she goes and subtly filming her. And then later on we rounded up a few other Euro people and went to reenact the snowball fight between the Bourgeoisie and the Aristocracy. The final product will be awesome.

I am going to miss the seniors so much after they graduate. Not least because half of my friends are seniors. And then my own grade once we all go off as well... I don't want this year to be over!

And prom is now tomorrow. Whoo. I daresay it will be interesting, though I'd much rather go home and sleep than go to a party of some sort afterward, now that I've learned when it's over...

You don't have to go to an after prom party. Especially if it'll me midnight or 1:00.

I'm going to miss my sophomore friends (and a few juniors) when I graduate next week.
