Hau Similarities

Trust me, there's more than there seems. By, erm... about two or three similarities. But oh well. :P

 

Anyway, to start with, the biggest one: The gaping mouth. The outline isn't that clear, but the mouth is there. It sure looks different, but it's there.

The next biggest one: The general shape. Both Hau Nuva have a kind of triangular shape. The Adapted one is narrower, but the similarity can still be seen.

 

I can see three more, but they're kinda small. The serrations, of course. Also, the ridges are reminscient of the veins on the first Hau Nuva.

The space between the eyes. It looks a lot like the space between the eyes of the original Hau.

Finally, there's a sort of V shape on the forehead. It looks a lot like the vent/eyebrow like shapes on the Hau Nuva.

 

Points highlighted (Oh no, I defiled it :P).

 

 

Other similarities on the set:

The silver armor is a similarity, seeing as one of the main features of the Nuva in 2002 was their silver armor.

The Nynrah Ghostblaster with both shots in it looks a lot like his Mata hand. And I thought that those hands were guns for a long time. :P

Also the outline of the mask are similar. The top half of the adapted Hau Nuva is like the top half of the orignial Hau. The bottom is like the bottom half of the Hau Nuva. :P

Hey, I just noticed the white outlined things... also, the fin on the Adaptive is similar to the forehead ridge on the Nuva.

I agree with that. You've tried really hard TtW, but I don't think I'll be able to be convince me that the Adaptive Hau looks anything like the original Haus. :rolleyes: Sorry.

 

But yeah, I do really like the mask anyway. It looks like a ninja mask.

I've always seen the similarities. Especially with the Phantoka. The problem isn't that they're not similar, it's that people are too nastolgic and wish they would release the exact same sets. It's dumb.

 

You know what mask REALLY looks like a Hau? Maxilos'. It literally screams "Tahu!!!!" Not even funny. He's not a toa, he's a makuta, dangit!

Agreed with the second line. I immediately thought Hau when I saw it. It's even Mata red!

Okay. If you looked at Tahu Mistika's mask without knowing it belonged to a new version of Tahu, could you say "Oh, that's a Hau." Seriously? 'Cause I can't.

I could. Especially because it couldn't be any other toa, could it? And it already looks like a toa, so it couldn't be a titan!

 

The similarities are not coincidences. The LEGO team tried very hard to make that ugly old Nuva Hau look good. And they succeeded. In fact, I don't really care if they're not similar. At least the Mistika aren't the Nuva. *shudders at the thought of the disgusting Nuva*

Let's think about it logically. We know that the prototype Hau Nuva has similarities to the old one. When it was changed, some of the similarities were removed. So logically, wouldn't it be likely for some of the intended similarities remain? :)

My point was why try and find these similarities that to me at the moment are coincidence. :P

Greg said that the prototypes of the Nuva were more similar to the originals. So it'd make sense that the prototype is also similar. :)

 

Why not? Even if they are coincidences, they're still there. And that's more of a reason for you to not look for them. Besides, I already found them, so there. :P

What if they just completely changed the mask after deciding that one based on the old one wouldn't work?

 

They still look nothing alike to me really. :P

I don't think they'd think that. Look at the Phantoka Kanohi. They were similar. I don't think the focus groups hate similarity to the old ones. :)

Oh sure, the Lego team just HAPPENED to make obvious similarities to the old Hau and it just HAPPENED to be Tahu Mistika's mask. Right. LEGO tried really hard and all you guys do is complain. And the mask still looks way better than any of the old Nuva masks. Those things=BLEH. The old Nuva were terrible.

What do you mean obvious? I bet you could find other similarities on other masks too. Also I'm not complaining, I don't like the old Nuva as much as the new ones and I don't care if they're not similar. :P

 

They still don't look nothing alike and the similarities are still coincidences to me. :P

Then it looks like we'll just have to "agree to disagree." :)
