Animation Test

I finally got to see the animation test for the new movie last week -- wow.

For whatever my opinion is worth, it blows away any character animation ever done for BIONICLE and speaks to a lot of things BZPers have said they wanted in a new movie. If the whole movie can look like that, we are going to have quite a film.

The latest news I have heard is that a lot of concept art is done, voice recording should be done soon, and the studio is straining at the leash to get started on the script for the 2010 movie.

Cool. This is gonna be great ,2009

Also, no one will complian that the models don't look like their long tryed and true heroes, due to the 09' reboot/refreash

As long as you get a female voice for Gali and Gorast. ;)

It's for the 2009 movie though, who knows if they're gonna be in it?

... Unless it's been somehow confirmed they're in ti and I'm making myself look stupid. XD

It hasn't and you're not. :)

Anyways, fantastic news Greg! I always expected that this movie would be a bit better animated then the old ones. Don't know why, just a feeling... But DANG now I wan't to see what it looks like! I suppose I'll just have to wait.

It's not the 2008 story line.

It's not a reboot, Greg said that the 09 direction did not mean killing off old characters from what I read.

I am looking forward to the movie when it comes out.

What are the charcters styled like? Are they similar to the sets or more like the previuos movies. I don't mind which, because I consider both to be canon. OH, BTW, are any voice actors returning. I'd love it if Lee Tockar came back as the villian, seeing as he did the voice of Makuta in MOL.

I can't wait to see this movie.

What was the animation test of? Don't give away too much info. Was it a fight scene? Walking sequence?

I don't know if there have been talkbacks o this, but what is the movie going to be about? Piraka vs. toa nuva and Ignika? Barraki vs toa mahri? or Phatoka and Mystika vs Phantoka and Mystika?...lol

I appologize for spelling some bionicle terms wrong(if I did)

So if this speaks to alot of BZPers demands, then that means the animation will match the sets! Oh thank you GregF, for delivering this wonderful news! Now come on man, tell us, you're proud. If it weren't for you, the animation studio would have nothing to animate.

Sounds great. I always love seeing the CGI, especially since it looks so realistic. I would say I'm excited about the story but . . . I have no idea what it's gonna be like. :P Still excited, though.

-- The animation test was of Antroz, and it was purely to show character movement and design -- and no, Antroz is not in the movie, but because the set is already out, he was the easiest one for their animators to play around with.

-- As far as music goes, I think that is usually the last thing that gets done -- until the movie is animated, you really can't score it.

-- I don't have any info on the voice cast, so I don't know if there are name actors in it. Personally, I hope not -- I think you fall into the "Oh, that's so and so playing that character!" trap, which knocks you right out of your immersion in the story. You wind up picturing the actual actor rather than focusing on the character.

If you say that the animation of an existing character is awesome, and the 09 sets will be awesome, better than the curent ones...

I plan on seeing htis movie on opening day!

True. I just want to know just to make sure we don't have a repeat of *shudder* Lewa's MoL voice.

Awesome! Can't wait for the movie. Lol, just pictured Onua with Arnold Scwarzenegar's (sp?) voice. "I am the Onuanator! Fear my power!"

Anyways, I hope the characters in this movie will be like totally awesome dudes and not *cough*wimps*cough* like Vakama metru. That would be awesome if some of them had some awesome master chief qualities like Kopaka in MOL. Calm, quiet, and wreaking some total ownage. B)

I am watching Mask of Light right now. The animations are smooth, but there isn't as much action as the other movies in the series. Since graphics design and other such advances have come really far from 2003, we can expect even clearer story telling and picture. We can expect some changes made like in the previous three movies. If the animations are better, well let's just say we have a lot to look forward to.

I understand why they used Antroz for the test animations since Lego is still working on prototypes and running them through the focus groups. But was Antroz rendered like a MOL character in this, or as a set ?
