Inhaling Gas

Spoony Bard

So I came home early from work because I became sick out of the blue.

What happened was that when I returned from my lunch break, I was stocking an Eggo waffle endcap. The freezer case they were in just happened to be in defrost mode at the time (helps melt the ice and frost off the shelves, but the products still stay cold). However the freon (keeps things cold) for the freezer just happened to be released through the vents through potent means. Which means you can smell it, and it smells very bad when warm. And it was very strong at the time, so there could have been a leak, which is bad.

So anyways as I was near the vents when stocking, I got a whiff of the freon, and suddenly had the urge to puke my lungs out, along with a headache which made my heaving worse. So then I went to the bathroom to heave, etc.

After that I spoke with my manager, and he was like "if you don't feel good, then just go home". He was very ok with it and even said that if I don't feel good I should let them know and they would send me to the hospital if needed.

So yeah.

They still use Freon? isn't that stuff, lik, poisonous?

Yes they still use freon. Commonly used in fridges and cars (AC) and freezers.

And what gas isn't poisonous these days?

But man, that's a major bummer. Hope you'll be feeling better soon. :(
