Depends on what you're trying to do. If it's just a box or whatever with 4 legs below it, then no, that would just be boring. Do something very different.

I'm proboably not using this, but I whipped together a drilling droid today. Three legs one with a drill, attached to a cylinder with an eye which is below it's cone and antenna top.

My personal favourite type of non-humanoid mecha is a tie up between the Four-leg-cockpit-underneath-weapons-above and the aquatic.

But yes, I believe that more non-humanoid Mecha is always appreciated. Popular maybe not, but that's because all humans are egotists D=

I've made a sort of pod. But what I'm entering is something very intesting, but it's humanoid. Sorry everybody, but I'm in a challenge and majority rules, but expect more non humanoids later.
