College Football Preview!

Yes, yes, yes, game day is almost upon us. This year is a new year, which is going to be good (and less crazy hopefully). So with that said. My top ten poll to start the season.

1) Georgia Bulldogs

Yes, everyone's unanimous number one. Who can not agree? Virtually the whole team returns along with quarterback Matt Stafford, with more to prove after being snubbed out of the championship game last season. No doubt clearly they were the best team towards the end of the season, which was capped off with a dominating 41-14 win over Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl. Even with a daunting schedule that includes road trips to South Carolina, Arizona State, Auburn, and LSU. If they take 3 of 4 of those games, including winning the rest of their games and winning the SEC, they will be in the Orange Bowl playing for the national Championship game.

Week 1 Game: Georgia Southern @ Georgia: PREDICTION: Georgia wins 44-3

2)Ohio State Buckeyes

3rd time the charm? Thats what it looks like this year with Ohio State returning its young team from last season. In what looks to be Jim Tressel's most talented team in his tenure at Ohio State, a national championship is once again in reach for them. With Todd Beckham and Chris Wells returning, the offense is sure to be explosive and the defense is always tough. With the rest of their conference in transition, the only true road block they have in conference is the fightin' Illini of Illinois. And not to overlook their nonconference matchup with USC, which is no doubt the biggest nonconference game this season. Look for the winner of this game to find itself playing Georgia in the national championship game.

Week 1 Game: Youngstown State @ Ohio State: PREDICTION: Ohio State wins 37-0

3)University of Southern California Trojans

Another year, another new quarterback/running back tandem, still in the national title picture. That is the standard at USC, to win a national championship. Even though the program has dropped a bit since 2005's legendary squad (Even though they lost to Texas in that legendary game, had it been any other year, they would've won), they are always a talented team to be cautious of. Despite Mark Sanchez's knee injury, which seems to be healing quite well, this team is going to be powerful and will no doubt keep its iron fist clenched on the Pac-10. Other than their game with Ohio State next week, which should be a great one, USC faces no real challengers except for Arizona State and Oregon at home, which shouldn't cause too many problems for the Trojans. A Pac-10 championship and a possible national title appearance should they beat Ohio State awaits USC.

Week 1 Game: USC @ Virginia: PREDICTION: USC wins 31-13

4)Missouri Tigers

The number 4 team is the Misso-wait a second who are these guys? Thats right, after stock piling talent under Coach Pinkel for the past few years, the Tigers finally broke through big time last year, reaching the top ranked spot before being crushed by Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship. That team returns with some young faces but should gain the needed experience quick in what is the best first week match-up. With Chase Daniels (4306 yards passing, 33 touchdowns to 11 interceptions) returning, the offense is sure to create fire works this season in the spread-pass heavy Big 12. With only 2 true marque matchups in the conference (@Texas, Kansas in a neutral site), Missouri should easily runaway in the Big 12 North, although the game with Nebraska is a bit of a wild card game. No doubt, should they be able to run the table and go undefeated and any of the other top teams slip up, this team will find itself in the National title game for the first time in school history.

Week 1 Game: Illinois @ Missouri: PREDICTION: Missouri wins 34-20

5)Texas Longhorns

Mediocrity is the best way to sum up the Longhorn's efforts since their national championship in the 2005 season. 2 losses to Texas A&M in a row, including the humiliating defeat of last year where the final score wasn't even as close as it really was. So with the fire Mack Brown lit seems to have carried over very effectively, along with the additions of Will Muschamp and Major Applewhite to the coaching staff, this team has a fire in them that we haven't seen since 2005. The best players will finally play, and there will be accountability held for the players. Colt McCoy hopes to bounce back from his Sophomore slump and return the Longhorns to supremacy once again. Even with the departure of Jamaal Charles, the Longhorns remain deep as always at running back and are expected to receive big contributions from Vondrell McGee and Fozzy Whitaker. With momentum and a drive now, the Longhorns look to win the Big 12 championship and just maybe the national championship. They will have plenty of games to make statements in what is possibly the toughest conference, more so than the SEC this year. The Longhorns have games against Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Texas Tech as well as tricky trip to Colorado where the Buffs knocked off Oklahoma last year.

Week 1 Game: Florida Atlantic @ Texas: PREDICTION: Texas wins 42-17

Part 2 will be coming later with bottom half of the top 10.
