"pigzilla"

A PIG the size of a shetland pony is holding a woman hostage on a property in northern New South Wales.

The Daily Telegraph reports 63-year old Caroline Hayes says she cannot go out of her Uki house to use the outdoor toilet because the pig is aggressive towards her.

Ms Hayes says the pig has managed to get into her bedroom.

"It's a beautiful male pig but he's just so big and so pushy," she said.

"He's actually getting very cranky at the moment. He pushes my door and I push a little bit and he gets in and I've got to push him out of my room."

She says says even rangers from Murwillumbah Council have failed to capture the animal.

"The rangers came out to my house yesterday with a dog cage and this pig is that big, it's like trying to put an elephant in a dog cage," she said.

"They tried for a little while and they couldn't do it. They got him halfway in and he just backed off and went back to my dam, where he was having a lovely time in the water."

Rangers are still trying to capture the pig today.

A RUNAWAY pig with a huge appetite for trouble, and bananas, will get to focus his energies on sows after his dramatic capture today.

Bruce, aka Pigzilla, who had moved in and taken over a small farm outside Uki in northern New South Wales in recent weeks, was captured by rangers from the Rural Land Protection Board, the Courier-Mail reported.

He will be shipped off to a piggery at a secret location where several sows are already waiting for him.

The giant porker had got too much for Caroline Hayes, 63, making her a prisoner in her own home by bailing her up inside the farm house until she fed him.

Ms Hayes had been reduced to feeding the hungry porker dozens of bananas to placate him.

"I guess I can see the funny side, but he gets really aggressive when you don't feed him and I have been terrified at times, because it hasn't been safe to leave the house," she said.

The neighbours were also tired of Bruce's antics, chasing people and pets to satisfy his insatiable appetite and leaving a trail of destruction.

He wrecked Ms Hayes's yard, fences and a dam, and even forced his way in to the family car and an old school bus in his search for food.

No one had come forward to claim ownership of the trespassing trotter, which turned up some weeks ago with an infected eye and scratches down his back.

WHAT.
