Somebody Bring Me Up To Date!

Lyger

As of the end of the year 2008 in the Bionicle storyline:

-Who's alive and who's dead (and, if you can spare the time, briefly how they died) and who's likely to be dying sometime soon?

-Who are the big players and what do they intend?

-Where do we stand in general?

Not asking for an essay. Just want to be up to speed.

All Makuta besides Teridax are dead through various means, Teridax is now the Matoran Universe (he possessed Mata Nui's body, because it turns out MN was the MU…), Toa Nuva are now helpless against said universe.

1) Well, a lot of the makuta are dead... Other than that, can't think of much more.

2) THE Makuta. Not a makuta, the Makuta.

3) Well, Makuta took over the Matoran Universe, but other than that, we're fine.

All of the karda nui makuta are dead, Killed in the energy storms.

Toa Ignika "died" to awaken Mata Nui.

Toa nuva are in Metru Nui

Mata Nui's body is controled by Teridax.

Mata Nui's spirt is trapped in the mask of life floating in space.

Mata Nui is the Matoran Universe.

Someone tell me if i forgot anythng. :)

Teridax replaced MN's spirit, banished it with the Ignika, and killed the BOM. No major 2008 good guys died. Yet.

So if Teridax is the Matoran Universe, can he still move about inside said universe? That is, are there any details as to the nature of this possession?

As of now, no I don't think so. I think we'll be getting some more info by hinting, but besides the blunt facts I don't think we know the minor details.

I'd suggest to go on BS01 and poke around some of the profiles (Like Makuta or Mata Nui), that could clear up a lot.

1) All the Makuta in Karda Nui have died, either through treachery or because of the energy storms. Greg has confirmed that any remaining Makuta in the universe will be killed by the now-omnipotent Teridax (we're back to The Makuta! Yes!). All the Toa Nuva are alive, while Toa Ignika sacrificed his body to awaken Mata Nui.

2) Teridax is the only real big player now. :P And thus far Greg has said that he doesn't intend to kill the Toa right off the bat, since he doesn't consider them a threat anymore.

3) The inhabitants of the universe are pretty much helpless to do anything as of now (or at least until Mata Nui can return to oust Makuta). They can't "go on strike" because then Mata Nui's/Makuta's body will die (taking them with it), and Makuta can't necessarily just kill all of the Matoran because then he would cease to function (although he can still make their lives pretty miserable). So it looks like they'll just have to suffer through it until Mata Nui gets finished with whatever he runs into on Bara Magna and beyond.

-----

Also, Greg has said that Makuta can now basically do everything that Mata Nui could (alter/designate destinies, control nature and the elements, create, destroy, etc.). He can be aware of everything that is going on in every part of the Matoran Universe as well as focus on what is happening in the "greater universe" around him.

I'm not sure what Makuta has against Mata-Nui (or has a pretty aweful jealously issue), but I'd rather be a essence of antidermis than an omnipotent being that has to care for himself else he dies and everyone else inside him. :\

Unless he forced everyone to change all the Mata-Nui statues into Makuta and have their wills controlled to worship him, then I guess it isn't too bad.

Except that now he can go on to conquer other worlds in the universe at large, being a planet-sized, nearly indestructible giant robot and all. :P It's got its perks.

The good guys, in general, are completely at a loss, totally screwed. Teridax is for all intents and purposes the god of the Matoran universe -- he can hear every thought, he can wipe out any living thing in an instant, anywhere. It is by the mercy of his indifference to the now inconsequential power of the Toa that he does not wipe them all out in a heartbeat -- that, and he also needs the inhabitants of the Matoran universe more or less well-off, since they are now responsible for his bodily functions.

Next year's main story rather abruptly leaves the situation in the Matoran universe on hold and instead focuses on the exiled Mata Nui's adventures in another world and the events that take place there.
