Well, That's Annoying

I have to use stupid web mail while I'm here. For all four years.

Reason.

9.3. Can I use an email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird?

While you can setup an email client, such as Outlook or Thunderbird, to receive emails, you will not be able to send emails using the client while in the residence halls. This is done to aid in the prevention of spam.

I rarely take my laptop out into the wifi. And I'm not going to download my email and then log into the interweb to send stuff.

Maybe I'll just abandon Cox.net and start using gmail or AOL. Though AOL has bad reviews, but people like gmail.

I guess I'll use Thunderbird at home.

I use Gmail and it rocks. Especially with iPod Touch features. ;)

Never bothered with Outlook or Thunderbird. =\ Seems to complicated

I like IE for the simplicity of the whole thing. I rarely have to worry about "is my connection going to work" or "can I access my e-mail on school computers" and the such.

Need an invite?

I've got like 500 available.

Why would I need an invite? I went there and clicked "sign up" or whatnot and it worked.

Haven't done much with it yet except use it to send mail from Thunderbird.

But I'll probably try it out more so that I can fool around with it. I'm getting annoyed with Cox.net webmail.

Jinzo, that was for the Beta I believe. You needed an invite to start a Gmail account. Now-a-days you can sign up for free. ;)

I just use my school address as a forwarder to the Hotmail account I've had since I was in seventh grade (that's nine years!).

Yeah, my school address forwards to my preferred service. The school email client is even worse!

How's Hotmail? Do you have to pay?

I don't know if they still do it, but when Gmail first came out and was kicking posteriors, hotmail and other poopy places went and redirected ALL Gmail over to the spam folder.

I'd hope they still aren't doing this, what with Gmail being so massive as it is now...

I like it. I don't get spam, that's my Yahoo account. It's free, and it's not trying too hard to be awesome, which means it's simple. And I like that.

Yeah, I really like Hotmail too. It's not confusing or super slow like other email servers I've used. (Gmail's confusing, not particularly slow. But I'm sure you'd get used to it...)

And it's not super spammy like Yahoo.
