I'll probably never understand why people try to break certain records that are so very pointless (and some are just nasty, such as longest fingernails). Some of these records are set by people doing stupid and often dangerous stuff; others win a bunch of awards and hold the record for having that many awards. (For things such as movies and television, it really doesn't even matter who won what award in what category in what year.) People set records that aren't even seemingly impossible to break, though they do require a large number of people.

Well, that makes so much sense, but wouldn't fewer than that suffice to set a record that has not been set. Then again, maybe I just have very terrible math skills. Of course, that brings up another point: if you and several million other people set a record together, wouldn't it feel less special than if you and maybe some close friends broke or set a specific kind of record? It's not as if you'll ever actually meet and/or even get to know all of them.

 

Not that setting a record is so bad (I mean we do have a few people here who have at least 10,000 posts), but maybe it's just me when I say that the record one breaks should make sense.

 

Then again, in the distant future, no one will care who you were or what record you broke if it didn't make any kind of real difference; Guinness Records is not even a subject of study that I'm aware of.
