Rare Kanohi?

So my order came in today, clear from down under. I guess these were not sold in the US, meaning there might be some rare kanohi in them! Rumor has it that these polybags are the ones you might find the white huna, dark blue matatu or dark red ruru. I want to open them, but at the same time I do not! What do I do with these now, sell them? Open them?

Nope, that was the standard packaging for Kanohi in Australia. They've got as much chance of containing misprints as your average US mask pack. Sorry to disappoint. :)

Aw, well at any rate I got a deal on em. Perhaps I should open em?

YES DO THAT. Kanohi are filled with too much AWESOME and WIN to resist, even if they're not misprints.

Okay, I'm going into collector-mode. :P

Those packages are the standard European 8530 Kanohi packs from 2001. (In the US they were boxed and their number was 8525.) During the first two weeks of production, they were packaged with the infamous 14 European misprints. The only special masks you could potentially find are those 14, plus the Infected Hau Olda. The White Huna (and Brown Komau) came in German "calendar packs," so no chance of finding them here. The Dark Blue Matatu is a one-of-a-kind Vhisola prototype, currently located in Hong Kong. The Dark Red Huna (you wrote Ruru, but I think you meant Huna) is also a prototype that is owned by a Hong Kong collector. Hate to rain on the parade, but you won't be finding any of those masks in the 8530 bags. Still, it's possible to find a Kaukau misprint, which still go for around $20.00.

I don't think you'll be able to sell them for very much, so open them. :D Even if you find normal Kanohi inside, it's still fun. :P At least for collecting nerds like me.

For the record, I ordered 30 of these packs from a French seller about a year or so ago. I opened every single one of them, but only got standard Kanohi.

PS - if you know your Kanohi Olda shapes (:P) then it is possible to feel the packs and determine which type of masks are inside. No way to tell which color they are, though.

I bought four of those a few months back and received two misprint masks.

Open them. MIB is for losers. :P

And to think I bought at least thirty way back when, with no misprintation at all...
