Beans For Genes

We did a lab in school the other day where we used beans of various colors to represent genes and alleles and stuff. For some reason, this part of the instructions cracks me up:

4. Without looking into the container take out two alleles at one time to represent a new individual. When two white beans are withdrawn at the same time, put them aside in another container labeled "non-survivors."

(Emphasis mine.)

It just makes me think of some feebly sadistic guy quietly sorting beans into "those that may live" and the "non-survivors." Maybe I just have a really weird sense of humor.

Hey! We did that lab a while ago!

Wait...

Well recently we used beans to represent an element (Beanium) and the protons etc.

But we did your lab in like... 8th grade?

Odd, I did that in 7th grade.

But really, your explanation of the "non-survivors" was hilarious and deeply disturbing at the same time. Not as disturbing as TrenchMouth, though.
