Here I 100% agree with you. That is why it bothered me when you said people were getting stupider. Being a pessimist might be OK doing it yourself, cause as Richroll said you are pleasantly suprised, but they overlook how much of a downer it is for everyone else.

I don't know, I'm always happier meeting someone who's just a bit too pessimistic than meeting someone who's just a bit too optimistic.
