As promised, TSC now begins, please read the following very carefully. Lets get started shall we?

 

Welcome to the inaugural Sanitarium Contest. The theme here is simple, Build a MoC using parts that come ONLY in non playset Bionicle sets. Thats right, no fusion, limited technic, limited system, your parts selection is limited only to Bionicle, and the few scattered system/technic parts available in those sets. I have just not been seeing enough quality MoCs that are solely Bionicle Based. Newer Bionicle parts, such as those available in the power miner sets are NOT allowed.

 

Prizes will be awarded for first and second place! First place will win a Blue Matatu and second place will win a Troll Warrior lego set!

 

Rules are as follows:

 

1. Your entry will be put under the microscope very closely, so please provide several angles/pictures of it before entering. I have a reliable set inventory to compare, so if parts that do not belong on your entry are found, it will be disqualified. You may contest your disqualification, and your creation will be given one more review, to ensure fairness. To further clarify this, I will list the exempt bionicle sets(playsets), any parts directly from these will not be allowed.

2. This is a freebuild, so you may build anything you like! However you may NOT edit the creation once it has been officially entered.

 

3. There will be no 3 part entries. Your creation must contain at least 30 parts at the minimum.

 

4. No whining, no complaining, no cheating, period. This means begging for votes when the polling has begun also.

 

5. The deadline for this contest has been set for March 31st, this gives you all one month to get something done. If by the deadline there are no more than 20 entries, then it will be extended further. Update, contest deadline has now been extended until April 15th. If by this time we still do not have at least 20 entries, then the voting will begin regardless.

 

6. You may only enter ONE creation. This creation may have accessories and the like, but these must attatch to the main creation in some manner.

 

7. You may NOT enter previously posted/public creations.

 

8. Have fun and please PM me for any further questions or information, or post.

Well, I've never bought a playset in my life, so this shouldn't be too hard.

Does that mean we can't use parts contained in playsets that we got elsewhere? Ex: Using those black tentacles when they can be found in the Toa Terrain Crawler.

I might enter since I have some motivation. =P Can you use the piece on the tip of Mantax's tail and those spikes on Takadox's armor, or would those be considered system?

Interesting. If a piece came from a playset but was originally from something else (I'm thinking gold Kraahkan here) would that be allowed?

 

And can I pm you with a prototype of an entry to check if any pieces are not allowed before I actually submit it?

This is a great theme. :D

 

So we can use pieces that have appeared in playsets as long as they've appeared in Bionicle sets before?

 

Also I would offer to help with the polls, but I'm not online often enough, sorry. :( If you've got any little jobs that need doing, I can probably do them for you.

I imagine that there's going to be at least one disqualification (possibly my own! lol) as people accidentally plop non-Bionicle parts in without thinking.

 

I'm so going to have to keep a Firefox tab open with a popular selling / set inventory site so's I can make SURE they're actually Bionicle.

Okay, what about black Kalmah tentacles?

 

PRETTY sure you could only use pearl light gray (8935) and orange (8917). The black came in 2 multi-model sets (8925, 8927) with minifigs.

 

I base that on this, which I interpret to mean, "It can be a Bionicle piece in any color, so long as that color occurs in a non-playset Bionicle set".

 

Newer Bionicle parts, such as those available in the power miner sets are NOT allowed.

 

This addresses this question as well, as I think they're confusing a rule on "color" with "manufacturing date".

Black Kalmah tentacles are not allowed, nor is the golden Kraahkan. ANY parts from playsets that originate in either color or shape are a no go.

 

As long as you can prove the part(s) in question are from non playset Bionicle, there is no worry. Promo items are allowed also. Please feel free to ask more questions, discussion is welcome. Remember also that you may contend at least once if your entry has been DQed.

As long as they show up on the part inventory of a non playset Bionicle set, those parts will be fine.

Exactly... if the part never came in a Bionicle set in that color.

 

Tahu's 2001 red sword? Fine.

Same red sword with small fire accents from a Racing set? NO.

Same sword in black from a Bionicle playset with minifigs? NO.

Same sword in light blue from a Glatorian set? Fine.

 

Likewise, Technic tire from a racing set? NO. ...not unless it was in a Bionicle set and in that same color.

 

You get the idea...

Yes we can. Titan sets had some Technic parts.

 

Also, Czar, I don't suppose Hockey pieces count, do they?

Actually, I think there were hockey parts in that big bionicle tub released a few years back.

 

Ill have to check the colors first.

I know brutaka has two gold hockey feet, so those are good (as long as they are gold).

Also, Czar, would it be okay if we included a list of the sets that the parts come in?

The only hockey part that came in the tub was a green hockey body.

 

Black hockey feet are used in nivawk, and theres plenty of purple and teal in old rahi.
