One thing, though: that puny 16-18 foot wingspan wouldn't support him in flight. :/

Hollow, lightweight bones etc.

With the tail beeing mostly cartilage the actual weight is light enough to be supported by the wing-structure.

Besides, he's a young adult, he'll grow
