The Watchmen topic is being constantly monitored. ;) It's a highly adult-themed story, so the staff is keeping their eyes on it. They probably think that a BG topic will sprout too much discussion to keep track of.

Contact Kex if you're really curious about it. :P

I'm on your side though -- a BG should be allowed if a Watchmen one is. :)

I find it more curious that you haven't been on MSN in like infinity.

I totally talked to you on Tuesday.... I also haven't been going on in the evening much. Mostly like afternoonish.

What if I start watching the really old episodes of BG? Can I discuss those? :P

And very curious indeed. I too have no desire to see the movie based on those various reasons.

I read the graphic novel, and it was good. Saw 300 (another graphic-novel-based film under the same direction) and it was good. I have never had a taste for violent movies; you'd probably have to have me tied and bound to make me watch a slasher flick. But I have no apprehension towards violence in movies when it moves the plot forward and contributes to the establishment of mood. Since that held true in the graphic novel, I look forward to seeing Watchmen some day, if not until a while past its DVD release.

I haven't got much knowledge of Battlestar Galactica besides a few episodes I've seen of the old series, so I can't judge the content of either version. But IMO the staff had better have a darn good reason not to allow a topic, especially now that this hypocrisy has been pointed out.

Yeah, I'm reading the graphic novel too right now. My friends will probably get Watchmen on DVD and I'll watch it until I get fed up with it, and then leave the room. Or not. But I don't think I want to see it in theaters.

I also don't like a whole lot of blood and gore and whatnot in my movies. Hence why I opted out from seeing Taken and Max Payne with my friends.

The violence isn't the only thing that's turning me off...

Well, then there's Dr. Manhattan's... anti-cloth protest... >.>

...And the whole Nite Owl II and Silk Spectre II... <.<

...And the Comedian and Silk Spectre... >.<

Of course, in the novel, they used the clever Adam-and-Eve styled "conveniently placed props/animals/bushes" for most of the above.

But not in the movie.

...I blame Zack Snyder.

Oh, and don't forget the extremely small vocabulary of the Comedian's. The only word he knows begins with an "F"...

The actor even asked for more cussing in the script...

That's where ClearPlay filtering comes in.

That thing can edit any undesirable content from a movie...

...Except terrible plotlines, or lack thereof...

Sounds like the movie would cease to exist. :shrugs:

Well, it does cut out those scenes, and mutes cursing...

But since I've read most of the graphic novel, I can still understand the plot...

I agree the... descriptive scenes were a bit too much, and I'm sad I can't just watch it with my family around, but it was awesome when you get rid of that. The fight scenes, drama, Rorschach, it was awesome.

However today I tried to explain the plot to someone and I couldn't. >>

Can't really be done, since it's not a linear plot. It's kind of like... darnit, I can't remember, but there was something else like that-- Oh, right, Holes! Yeah, lotta flashbacks, and the story doesn't make nearly as much sense without them.
