The Problem With Being Instrumental

Necro

That CD I've been working on appears to be instrumental based on my songwriting so far. However at the same time, I enjoy singing almost as much as I enjoy playing.

Why is it I can't write lyrics for my life, and if you can, how?

To write lyrics, I usually come up with a metaphor of some sort, work it into a chorus line, and build the song from there.

Honestly? I just write whatever comes to mind

I write anything that comes to mind or something just sets me off on a rant and I just feel like writing angry lyrics.

I've never tried to write lyrics. I'm sure anything I come up with will be stupid beyond belief. Maybe I'll try it sometime, but I haven't been particularly emotional lately so it would just wander if I did it now.

Wait, what about you now? Oh. You're working on a CD? That's oretty advanced for a 15-year-old.

I hate posting in old entries, but whatever.

Anyways. I'm the same way. I can write a melody for lyrics, but I can't write the actual lyrics to save my life. I ended up recording an additional guitar track playing the melody that would normally be sung. That's worked really well for me, but like all musical techniques, it all depends on the musician.
