Final Fantasy Character Of The Week #4
This week's character is the summon Alexander from FF6-FF9.
Name: Alexander
Game: Final Fantasy VI, VII, VIII, IX
Class: Summon
Other Classifications: Esper (FF6), Guardian Force (FF8), Eidolon (FF9)
Attack: Judgment (FF6, FF7); Holy Judgement (FF8, FF9)
Alexander first debuted in Final Fantasy VI as an Esper (summon) that can be called upon in battle to perform its attack called Judgement, and later on to Holy Judgement. Alexander is seen as a huge tank-like being with 4-cylinder legs. His attack can vary in looks, usually it is shown has holy missiles being fired from cannons opened up on his sides. In FF7 he can be obtained in materia form in the Northern Glacier, and in FF8 he can be drawn from Sorceress Edea (in battle). He was not obtainable in FF9.
Alexander is known as the Holy Summon, because his attack deals out holy damage (holy being powerful white magic). In FF9, he has a key role of being the All-Powerful Holy Eidolon, and was deemed to be more powerful than the Dragon King Summon Bahamut, who was the king of summons. He had a more ancient look, like a castle, but still keeping the tank look. He was also given angel wings (cuz he was holy). He used his wings to perform his attack during the epic battle against Bahamut (as seen in pic). However Alexander's role was cut short, because he was destroyed by Garland through the use of the Invincible.
Alexander doesn't have much of a backstory in Final Fantasy, but in FF9 he was called forth before to thwart to power of Necron, the Eidolon of Death. This is only referred to as a "long ago" story in the game. Necron is also the final boss of FF9.
