My Mom's Phone Has An Attitude
You probably already know that my mom has the T-Mobile G1. The G1 possesses a voice dialing feature - you can speak a contact's name into the phone's microphone and it will call the contact. I decided to use it the other day to call my friend Ding [an alias chosen by my friend for security purposes]. So I activated the voice dialing feature and said to the phone, "Call Ding Chavez."
Nothing happened.
Thinking it just hadn't registered my words, I repeated myself: "Call Ding Chavez." Again, nothing.
Wondering if I wasn't being specific enough, I tried again: "Call Ding Chavez on mobile," a command used to call a contact on a specific number.
Once more, no response.
It crossed my mind that my mom may not have Ding in her contacts, so I told the phone to dial his number, and for a fourth time, the phone did nothing.
Now frustrated, I told the phone, "Ignore me."
The phone beeped twice and closed its voice dialer.
That thing has an attitude.
