My Brother, The Scrooge

Kopaka's Ice Engineering

Well, not scrooge per se, but definite spoil sport.

Although, I think it might have been Brandy's (his wife, my sister-in-law) fault.

Okay, Tuesday night I bought a couple of ½-gig flash drives at Target. (Bink, whatever sale you mentioned must be an Oregon thing, because there was nothing that sniffed of it in Metairie.) I figured one for me, for whenever I get around to moving files onto a new computer, and one for Michael, as a Christmas present. $30 each, I think is a decent price for a Christmas present.

Wednesday during the day, I call Brandy to ask her if Michael needs a flash drive. She surreptitiously asks him, under the not-really-a-ruse that hers is about to be full. Michael readily volunteers his.

Translation: $30 not well spent on Michael's present.

So I talk with Brandy yesterday, to discern what would be a good plan B. Plan B is a 1 GB memory stick for their digital camera, on sale for $20 through tomorrow. Okay, great, and I'll keep my trap shut as to how much the flash drive cost....good thing I didn't open it. I called Brandy back, and fortunately Michael was in the shower. The camera: a Canon Powershot A620. CompUSA should tell me everything I need from there, right?

So why does Michael call me earlier this morning to confirm such things, and then sends an email? Why?

Grrr...what's the point in wrapping it now?

KIE, this is what comes from doing your Christmas shopping from now. No good comes from planning ahead. Procrastination is the key to universal harmony.

I have to disagree with that, being in retail an' all . . . ;)

Does your brother have a terribly [organic] memory, KIE? Maybe he'll forget by the time the Big Day rolls around?

Don't we just love our siblings to death? :P

Oh so true Lady Kopaka. :pirate:

And that's quite a situation ya got there KIE. Maybe you should think of something that your brother likes, then wait for Christmas. Give him the present, with the receipt in hand. So if he doesn't like it, the receipt should come in-handy :lookhere: .

XD

Nothing to really do... it sounds like it's his own fault. If he wants to know what his Christmas presents are, that's his business...

Then again, if he's the more organized/busy type, he might want to know exactly what's he's getting just to keep on schedule... but that's not really an excuse. It still takes the fun out of Christmas.

Oh, that's not fun.

Get him something he doesn't want/need and tell him it was his fault.

Oh, yeah, flash drives are awesome! That deal sounds like a deal!
