I Trust Lego

Bionicle is one of my favorite lines, nay, it is my favorite line. I am saddened to hear that this is the last of the sets (at least for now, so they say).

But LEGO knows what they are doing. They pulled themselves out of their money problems earlier this decade and other things they have done to keep ahead of video games (sort of) have worked. They continue to have good ideas (I don't like Sponge Bob, but those sets are popular. Another example: LEGO Indiana Jones sets flew off the shelf. And Town continues to go strong, and they throw in Castle/Pirates every few years. Etc.) Like any company, they need to do something to keep making money, and who am I to say that closing this line and introducing something else I know nothing about is not a good idea?

They will not loose me as a fan.

I will continue to buy their sets, both System and Technic.

(Even if that means splurging a little on some Bionicle sets now, simply to stalk up for later.)

I say: Let's make the Bionicle section at BrickFair the biggest and best it has been yet. Community, baby, community.

Community has two M's btw.

And I definitely agree with you about sticking with Lego. I was with Lego before Bionicle, and I plan on building with Lego long after Bionicle.

Two things are being changed here, the sets and the story.

The sets are being changed into two lines, which seems to me to be an expansion of BIONICLE style sets in general. But the line we’ve seen so far looks really simplistic, even compared to the more basic BIONICLE sets, so let’s hope the other line is tilted towards an older audience. All I want from sets really, is good MOCing parts, which I’m not really seeing in Ben 10.

Then there’s the story. The story can only really get better, seeing the limitations that will be removed now that Lego is no longer marketing sets through it. I’m really looking forward to future developments.

Overall, this will be nothing but good if we can continue to get good Technic-BIONICLE style parts, and if Greg Farshtey lives up to my expectations in the future storyline.

Also, I'm not really looking at this from the same angle you are CF. You're looking at it from the angle of a Lego marketing dude, looking out for Lego's earnings, and I'm looking at it from my personal angle as a fan and BIONICLE MOCist.

That being said, here is my two cents on it as a Bionicle fan and MOCist:

I am disappointed that Bionicle is ending. It seems sudden. If anything I would have expected it after Karda Nui, when they could have wrapped up the story with a happy ending. Now, however, is unexpected as I felt they could do more. I know the story is still continuing for another month or two, with the Stars sets and all, but I don't see how they'll wrap it up smoothly without it just halting.

As a MOCist my only hope can be 1) Buying some more Bionicle right now (splurging, etc. Like, I should go buy Kiina; maybe an Agori or two) and 2) Whatever replaces it (which we have no idea what so far. People should stop saying Ben 10 because it's already been said it's not.) is compatible successfully.

However, I realize there are a lot of fans out there that are happy it's ending now. I want to know why. Why do they claim and feel things like it has been going on for too long? Etc.
