...While the play is comedic, it is not lighthearted. Overtones of death, of endings, are ever-present in this play, along with other morbid or disheartening messages. The end-of-the-world scenario gives the audience a very truthful look at what sorts of people those performing are; to quote The Joker as portrayed by Heath Ledger, “…You see, in their last moments, people show you who they really are.”

 

I worked a quote from The Joker into an official school paper. Yeah. B)

What I am about to say, I think some of you may consider heresy, considering that it's dissing the Joker. :P

 

But honestly. You suggest that the crazy nihilist and mass-murdering sociopath whose sole goal was to prove that humanity are evil, EVIL! was actually right?

In his analysis of the nature of people under circumstances near their deaths, yes, I believe that The Joker was right. That does not mean that I agree with all of his statements.
