Eyru Posted January 1, 2010 I've still got an hour and 56 minutes to go, but happy new year anyway! Quote Link to comment
Tavakai Posted January 2, 2010 No, 2011 is the new decade. Because the year zero doesn't exist, decades don't start with zero years. There was 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, and so on until you get to 2001-2011. 2010 isn't a new decade, it's the end of a decade. But still, happy new year. Quote Link to comment

Years indicate how much time has passed. Much like how we are in the 21st century right now. Is it the year 2100? No, it isn't, but it's past the year 2000, which marked the end of the 20th century (and second millennium lol). It's like your age. I am 16, but in the 17th year of my life. I will have lived 17 years once my birthday rolls around, but right now I am in that 17th year. Quote Link to comment

I put a bit more thought into it and realized we were both right. It really just depends how you look at it; I saw blocks of ten years and you saw consecutive years with the number one in the tens place. Quote Link to comment
danwojo913 Posted January 2, 2010 Technically, it's always a new decade, just depends on when you saw the last one beginning. Quote Link to comment
ToM Dracone Posted January 3, 2010 It's a new decade. 2010 begins the decade of 201_s, or else 1990 was part of the '80s, but not part of the '90s. And that just wouldn't make sense. Quote Link to comment
