I've always thought it adds more emotional depth to the music... plus in most cases it just sounds awesome. 16.gif

But "to each their own", as they say.

Well, I don't mind it when it's used sparingly, like in Diary of Jane, or You fight me. I don't even really mind Hopeless. But in songs like Believe, I find it absolutely disgusting to listen to. And at the end of Phase. (I faded that part out in Garageband. =P)

When you have such a contempt for screaming in music, you really miss out on some great bands... Like Killswitch Engage.

But as I said before, to each their own. I'm just curious as to why people hate screaming in music. =P

Lol, yeah, I hate Killswitch Engage. their guitar is awesome, and music in general, but I hate the singing.

I find it... senseless. Sure, when used occasionally, it adds depth to a song, but when used like in Believe, or like Killswitch Engage, or Slipknot, it's just noise. There's no tune, and it takes all the music out of the song. Plus, it makes me mad.

Yeah, I love pretty much all of Breaking Benjamin. Dear Agony was way different from their first three albums, but it turned out pretty awesome.

And I'm not a fan of Killswitch Engage, but I do like Slipknot. It all depends on how it's done, really. Breaking Benjamin and Slipknot, for instance, do it right.

Yeah, I thought Dear Agony and Phobia were the best. Really, the only song I don't like on the former is Crawl.

>.< I don't think I hate any band more than Slipknot. The masks, the screaming, the pompous attitudes, they just suck, IMO. But whatever, I guess everyone has different tastes.

I think Phobia is probably my favorite, but I like We Are Not Alone, too.

I used to be kinda eh towards Slipknot, but seeing them live blew my mind, and I began appreciating more on their albums. They're dark just to be dark, and it's not bad.

Yeah, I like about half of the We Are Not Alone songs. Follow, and Away, and Forget It are the best, I think.

Did you see them on the recent tour with Trivium and Coheed? I would've endured them just for the half hour Coheed & Cambria played... =P

Lol, no, I saw them once last summer as part of Mayhem Fest (Mastadon, Dragonforce, and Disturbed and Slipknot) and again this fall. They were supposed to play Pain in the Grass in the summer, but the drummer was injured somehow (ruptured his appendix, I think) and they made up the show later.

Was tempted to go see them with Deftones a few weeks later, but it was too far out.

Also, this May, Breaking Benjamin with Nickelback and Shinedown. It should be... amusing.

+100 points for seeing Disturbed.

Breaking Benjamin with Nickelback? I just lost much of my admiration for BB. ;-;

Still, they're currently touring around with Chevelle, Red, and Three Days Grace... that makes up for their associating with Nickelback.

I'd have to agree. I don't like Nickleback either. Though a few songs on their new album weren't so bad.

Haven't heard anything off their new album (as far as I know), though every song from their previous albums that I've heard (with the exception of If Everyone Cared) I hated.

Yeah, me too. There's probably like, 4 songs at most off the new album that I like. Maybe less. That one they did with Santana was good though.

My friend referred to the show as the "guilty pleasures tour" which I kinda have to agree with XP. All bands that you do enjoy listening to (and we all like at least one or two songs from Nickelback, don't lie) but don't really talk about otherwise.

Would have liked to see them with Three Days Grace and Flyleaf, but ah well. Or Chevelle, Red, and Three Days Grace (it just occurred to me that I don't know anything about Red... are they good?), but I saw Chevelle at Pain in the Grass, so I can live.

And yes, Disturbed is, of course, full of win. Seen them twice so far, and I'm always on the lookout for more touring.

Red is a really good band, yeah. If you want to check out some of their songs to see how you like them, I recommend Breathe into Me, Death of Me, Wasting Time, and Shadows.

Just listened to RED. They sound alot like Breaking Benjamin, music-wise, but I dunno if I'm really all that fussed on them. I mean, the beginnings of their songs were great, but every time the singing starts, the music kinda fades and becomes hollow. I just really don't like the sound.
