Well, it's the first romance to be explicitly stated in-story and also the first two-sided romance (as in, first time two character were in love with each other, as opposed to one simply having a crush on the other).

That took me a while to get that reference. Especially since I haven't paid any attention to the bionicle storyline since Mata-Nui and Makuta where battling eachother in giant robots. And even then I had no idea what was going on.
