Well, pretty muchly what is says is that everybody has to buy Health-care, regardless of if they can afford it or not, or if they don't want it, and if they don't buy it, they'll be fined and/or thrown in jail.

^ That's the gist of it.

I wish it wouldn't of passed.

It also set in new insurance regulations. Insurers can no longer remove or deny your plan for pre-existing conditions, for new illnesses or injuries, etc. It set up a new tax system on insurers, and offered government assistance to those who cannot afford their medications (mostly senior citizens, many of them on Medicaid couldn't pay for their medications through insurance until they hit a certain amount of money, now they will receive extra money from Medicaid to help pay for it).

The fee for not having insurance (which starts in 2014), will be less than one hundred dollars a year. Which is far cheaper than what most insurance companies charge, and cheaper than what many charge per month.

Etc and so forth. There's a lot of information available on the government website devoted to the bill, bee tee dub.

And while I'm elated it passed, I am going to have to say that this, being a political subject, is not open for debate or discussion any further than "What it is" and "Did you support it." No replying with "Why not/Why would you?" or anything of that persuasion. First whiff of that I smell and it's lock-down.

And part of the concept behind the fee for not having insurance is so that people don't wind up going into hospitals without the money to pay for those services nor the insurance to cover it. This would (in theory) drive down the cost of hospital services as everyone else doesn't have to compensate for the lack payment from other parties. Whether or not it actually plays out like that, only time will tell.

No, it was "The" Health-care bill.

Why don't you read it? It's only 2000-some pages. :P

I'd prefer a technical support reform bill to be passed, TBH.
