The Wrath Of Davy Jones

I'm obsessed with Pirates of the Caribbean. Have you noticed?

I just realized yesterday, Davy Jones's organ theme (from The Kraken) can be described perfectly by the phrase "going down with a fight." It's powerful, dramatic, yet also has a sense of inescapable tragedy to it – putting up a valiant fight but knowing that defeat is the only outcome in the end. Perfect for the final battle of Dead Man's Chest. And at the same time, Davy himself pouring out the pain and anguish from his love by hammering out on the organ, venting his anger through the Kraken. It's an amazing piece.

Crew member: "What of the survivors?"

Davy Jones: "There are no survivors!"

*Davy storms off and the crew slit the prisoners' throats and throw them overboard*

Which leads to the question... If the Barraki are Davy Jones's crew... then who's Davy Jones himself?

 As I don't know much of 2007, I'll say wisely that I don't have a clue.

But, argh, his organ-playing techniques were superb! Pity I didn't record the playing. Polyphony with at least eight indexes is quite a something.

How do I honestly start commenting in this awesome blog of yours? I'd end up writing a comment for each and every entry so far ... I just might, don't you turn your back on me just yet.

I can disclose, however, that my mom adores PotC 2 probably as much as you do. Davy Jones' crew are her big favs. Especially Wyvern who's stuck in the wall in the stern, having forgotten himself to the point of practically becoming one with the wood, like an ancient huorn.

I have to admit, she almost gets me going too. Though I'm too caught up in a gazillion other active and to-be-active projects to really bother much about DVDs anymore.

Heh, very well-put. ^^ I love that piece...

Hmm, good question... Dunno. Pridak would definitely be Maccus (the hammer-head shark first mate), though, if you ask me.
