Some Perspective

Well, I got my Brickmaster today, and it included a Hero Factory little pamphlet thing, which gave me some inside info on the story. But I didn't think like I'd seen enough, so I took a little visit over to the theme's site on LEGO.com for more. Some of it intrigued me, I guess.

And sure, the feeling of newness, of beginning, it was cool; Mostly because it was nostalgic. I really badly wanted to get sucked up in that. I wanted to feel like I felt as a 6-year-old, back in 2001. And there was a glimmer of that, a little part of me who thought, "wow, this stuff is awesome!"

But I suppose I'm too grown up now. The storyline seemed so hackneyed, so lame. I wished so much that we could just get another BIONICLE world, one with nothing to it in the beginning but a name, if that. I didn't want a universe that connected back to our own planet. Hero robots fighting Bad-Guy robots, that was almost BIONICLE again, and that made me happy. But bring that to Planet Earth, and it all changed.

I loved the simplicity of the new beginning. I hated the initial story placement. I loved the feeling of nostalgia from something fresh. I hated the shallow cliches of the characters. I loved how it looked like BIONICLE revamped. I hated how it wasn't that. I loved some of the sets, hated others.

I guess we don't know what we've got 'till it's gone.

Agreeing 100% with you on seeing something new that only has a name to it.

On the other hand, you can't go and expect HF to be like Bionicle. After all if that was the case where would be the purpose in having a new story? Lego might as well have just treated us with the next chapter to Bionicle.

But depending on how well HF is going to run we might get something cool and new sometime, since I doubt Lego would give up on the Action-Figure segment just because a series flopped story-wise ^^

we're never too old for this stuff...just like with bionicle, enjoy the time we have with it before it's gone.

that, and there's always fanfiction!
