I beat up extra cardboard boxes as I shoved them into a separate garbage bag.

What a deal. Consider yourself lucky.

Indeed. While I rarely take out the trash, I never get paid for it. I have been cleaning other stuff in the house for money to finish my Christmas shopping. I mainly clean the van for cash (especially since I can do the outside and/or inside, and it's white, meaning the outside needs cleaning rather often.)
