      I think its just that most Uni's wouldnt let you in with out A-Levels(A type of qualification here. Good luck with it anyway

      You don't need to be 18 to get a qualification. I did graduate from high school along with my brother earlier this year.

      I for one never noticed this alleged childishness...perhaps it's true that we are each our own harshest critics.

       

      But I can't help but wonder a bit at your use of the term girly, as though subtly implying that femininity is inferior to masculinity.
