  1. I'm not gonna lie. This is really underwhelming for a UCS set, especially after the SHIELD Helicarrier was revealed ~2 weeks ago.
  2. I guess I'm buying a million separate orders in March.
  3. Sweeeet. I've been waiting for an official announcement on a Helicarrer set. Can't wait to get it! Which is why the said it would cost an arm and a leg. The US price is right there in the teaser and the rest of them are in the press release:
  4. Toa Mata Lewa followed shortly by Toa Mata Kopaka. I don't remember the rest of the order though.
  5. Either way it will be in a color that most people haven't owned before!
  6. I wonder when the US will get this promotion and how much you would have to spend to get it online. I guess I'd just buy some Protectors.
  7. Since when was Pohatu all dark and grim? It was nice to see that skeletal hand at the end of it arc!
  8. Just saw the new wave at Target and decided to get one from each of the tribes. I can tell you right now that, aside from Vampos (as revealed in the BZP review), Flamzer definitely comes with one of the Nixels. UPDATE: Rokit has the third Nixel. Lucky me!

  10. You're not really modding the parts. It's considered more of a "repair" since you're just replenishing layers of plastic/acrylic to help tighten the joints and increase friction.
  11. Aside from given them articulated fingers, I've tweaked most of them. - Gali and Kopaka are untouched - Modded Lewa so that he has full movement in his neck/head - Still tweaking Tahu. I wanted to make some changes to his legs because they look pretty bad, bland, and extremely hollow in the back. >>> Removed one pair of extensions on his legs (the ones that connect to his hips) >>> I used this Chima piece I found online to replace the gold armor on his shoulders and hips: http://brickset.com/parts/6075042 >>> Took one pair of these (http://brickset.com/parts/design-19087) and added them to the front on his shins. >>> I plan to fill out the cavities behind his shins with either red or trans orange shells Doing a configuration similar to Metalbeard's hand to give Onua claws. I'm still waiting for the parts, but here's what Metalbeard's hand looks like on Onua's arm. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Xia-Nui/Bionicle-Pics/onua_prototype.jpg Still messing around with Pohatu. I couldn't find a way to replicate his original geared kick/bottom heaviness without the design looking atrocious. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=6214042
  12. If the friction pin's lose, just brush on a few layers of this stuff (wait 24 hours in between each application). Ah-mazing. Wait 24 hours for the final coat the fully cure and it'll be super durable.
  13. I honestly would rather see future sets that integrated the Skull Spiders if they're still relevant to the storyline after these first wave of sets. Maybe something akin to the old Rahi sets that have places for the spiders to dock to simulate their infected Kanohi a la G1?
  14. The Pledge floor finish came today. Brushed it onto the pieces and checked in about 1 hour. Everything looks nice and smooth and even with a very nice, high gloss shine (matches the plastic). Works like a charm! One of the stickers on Kopaka's knees was already lifting up so I'm glad that I got extra sets coming in the mail. Worse case scenario is that I just buy another white shell piece with my next batch of parts and apply another sticker before brushing on some Pledge.
  15. It's a tie between Pohatu and the Lord of Skull Spiders for me in the medium range. Pohatu's pretty bland and the neon green seems a bit odd. Tahu is my least favorite amongst the larger sets because his lower half seems unrefined and unfinished. The use of the chest plates for the front of his legs seem out of place and the set doesn't even have any filler material for the back of these legs.
  16. Huh. Coincidentally, the stickers on Kopaka's legs are already starting to lift a bit at the edges. No air bubbles, re-applying, or extra grease from the mold release either. Just called Lego and ordered extra copies of both sets of decals just in case.
  17. Yup. Always try to avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight/UV light when dealing with ABS plastic, especially if it's white (turns ugly and yellows!). The stickers don't have to be on white bricks and elements for the degradation to appear with age. I was referring to stickers that were printed on white material, like the ones on Republic dropships from the live action Attack of the Clones film. Hah! That's awesome. All of my Lego sets from my childhood were lost/thrown out over the years, unfortunately.
  18. I don't ever plan to remove the stickers. These will pretty much be display pieces in my detolfs. I've had past experiences where white stickers crumble and disintegrate on sets as they aged. I checked around on the web and this seems to be a common issue with stickers printed on white material.
  19. Not sure if this is the right posting location for the subject matter, but has anyone thought about using any sort of clear coat or varnish to seal and protect the stickers on the 2015 sets? I was thinking about using Pledge Future (heavily used by toy customizers and model makers). Once it's fully cured, it forms a tough, durable, acrylic seal on things and it also self-levels. Thoughts? Opinions?
  20. Apple? Seems more like an insult to Lego than a compliment.
  21. If any of you haven't tried yet, I would recommend soaking Generation Jetifre's accessories in Super Clean to remove the awful chrome. I just finished up the last batch that I prepped last night after I got back from work earlier today and the pieces look great.
  22. I hate the use of purple but I like his build. It's the most unique among the Neo/Redux "Toa".
