    As you can see, lots of good stuff! Combat Lair is probably the best set of the wave (IMO), and I :wub: the summer speedorz sets! The ultrabuilds obviously suck (especially the hero ones...uggh) but at least that's where the disappointment ends.

    Playing around with the Boulder Bowling set I bought a few days ago. For those who have other speedorz sets, is the ramp a huge problem? I'm just wondering, because apparently it's not too much of a problem in this particular set (and for other sets it is a huge one). Smashing the boulders in two is a problem though...

     

    That aside, getting a extra gold lightsaber hilt in this set (and the CHI waterfall I believe) is a huge bonus. Getting Chromius in a (relatively) cheap set is a nice as well--it's a shame he's in the most expensive set, as it would result in a significantly higher demand for this set.

     

    If anyone wants, I might make a review on it; I have pics ready, even.

    Crominus is the Crocodile King and Cragger's father. His wife is Queen Crunket. A tough and fiercely-protective leader, Crominus could not stand the Lions but he always respected them. Unlike his son, Crominus ruled with logic and common sense, instead of emotion. He realized that fighting always hurts BOTH sides. He was by no means a pacifist, but he was definitely more pragmatic than his hot-headed son.

     

     

     

    Cragger was always an extremely-competitive kid. He lived for the rush of victory. Laval actually liked that about him when they first met, and the two became best friends at a very young age. At the time, both cared only about adventure, fun, and the occasional prank. Cragger challenged Laval’s Lion sense of propriety, and Laval had a way of getting Cragger to laugh at himself – no small feat given Cragger’s oversized ego. But everything changed when Cragger had his first taste of Chi. There are strict rules about how old one must be to use Chi, and Cragger was far too young to handle its awesome power. For Cragger, Chi gave him that sense of ultimate power he had always been seeking. He never completely recovered from the experience. This was the beginning of the end for Laval and Cragger, as well as Chima’s thousand-year Age of Peace.

    Slithraa comes in blister packaging like the rest of his brethen--literally, there's nothing groundbreaking to talk about. Some may even wonder why people buy him. I guess it's because his other appearance is in some ninja boat set and not everyone has $80 within pocket's reach to spend on.Again, this wave's spinner sets feature Venomari snakes in a green/black backdrop. I already talked about them in my other review so I don't need to explain it again here.At least the blue bits the set spinner set has makes it stand out more, unlike certain others (*cough* Lloyd ZX *cough*).8010687944_57337c6bb2.jpgBut yeah, that's the downside of having 13 single-character spinner sets within the span of 4 waves. For me, it gets redundant having to buy these for the contents (especially the cards). Not to mention that the packaging takes up room when stored. (It can be stacked haphazardly, but still) I wish the packaging would be different somehow...wistful thinking, but hey, I can dream, can I?But I guess what makes this stand out is that he is the only standalone Hypnobrai spinner set, so there's that.The contents are pretty much the same as with any other spinner set (and you'll probably know what they are), so I'll just start by talking about the spinner itself.8010696628_672a8abb59.jpg8010693668_9203a1b020.jpgSlithraa's spinner uses trans-light blue, which fits his ice-type. The color is the only one that is reused twice in one wave; NRG Zane's spinner also uses this color. The only difference is that Zane's spinner has a light-metallic bottom and uses solid ice patterns (to create said "solid ice" look) while this spinner here has a dark gunmetal gray bottom and uses a hypno-snowflake pattern.Speaking of which, I love the spinner pattern used here. It utilizes the hypno-pattern that appears on Slithraa's hood (namely the left one (your right)) and uses eight of them to create a snowflake. It's really clever and looks very neat; it beats all the other spinner patterns the other Serpentine use. Fangdam's spinner pattern looks too bland and I have no idea what does Spitta's pattern resemble. Here's a closeup.His crown is also good as well; it looks generic enough to be utilized on NRG Jay's spinner (to make a pure trans-blue spinner) and I like that new spinner mold used here as well; I think that the newer snake crown in wave 3 won't look as good here, but that's just me.Then again, I like anything with transparent colors.His card set is diverse. I know the official website has these card pics at higher resolution but keep in mind those are international versions (because of the italiced/additional text), while the scanned ones here are the North American versions, which are getting harder to come across online. Anyways, Even the Odds pic is amusing and Wrong turn can be useful. Everything else is average.8010691758_db54d38792.jpgSlithraa is no different from his appearance from 9446 Destiny's Bounty. Like what I said before, this is a far cheaper way to buy this for the minifigure for those who don't have an additional $70 lying around. He also comes as a $5 keychain but apparently kids these days like to make new snakes, so I guess that isn't a feasible option,His snake hood looks very flat when viewed from the front (as shown above), but it is saved by the small "slope" on the back of the head when viewed from the side. I think the neck part is making it look like so; it's far too blocky and stands out considerably from a snake head that is dominated by lots of curves.The snake prints are not the most intricate but the yellow makes it stand out, and it looks good. I like how the whole thing acts as one stripe, which starts from his head and extends down to his legs.His weapons of choice include a golden snake staff (a distinction shared by no other), a sai on a chain stick and a trans-blue snake. The snake staff is a odd choice for a golden weapon; show-wise it makes half sense and having a staff as a weapon seems good on paper. However, the staff pretty much prevents spinning completely; Slithraa cannot hold the staff so the snake head dangles outward, as it makes the spinner spin too outward and just spin in place. Holding it inward won't help; the same thing happens as well.The same goes with the snake (but can be held inward). The chain weapon is the only one that Slithraa can use safely, however it is not as effective.Apparently he uses a tan brick set. I'm not sure why they couldn't use other colors.8010685271_4a38b84ea1.jpgAnd I guess I have to mention the obligatory Spinjitzu game here. All I'm going to say is that it is best if multiple spinner sets and booster packs (I'm talking about 2 or more each) are used to maximize the playing outcome. The game is still fun though.Overall, Slithraa has lots of cool stuff (especially the spinner) but as a whole it seems very boring--it's no different from other standalone spinner sets. This isn't helped by the $10 price tag--while justifiable it makes buying spinners for the game quite costly, and finding sales on them are very rare. And on top of that, most spinners sell out within 1-1/5 months, and demand makes it worse. I'd say buy him if you want the bits and minifig and beat the demand, but otherwise waiting a bit longer probably won't hurt.

    I just got NRG Zane. The character card looks pretty good but I don't get why the card shows Zane having light blue hands when on the actual minifigure, they're white. Also, there's that hard-to-see Lightning symbol in my Snowblind card and the card is an Ice type. Did anyone else get this?
    Same here. Like the cards Unsteady and Upper Hand the error may be widespread.And for those of you wanting to buy a Lloyd ZX spinner you're very screwed now, he just hit sold out and won't be coming back ever.

Let's find out!7810337028_16b77ec382.jpgWell we're at wave four of the spinner series and this time around the Venomari snakes are the stars of the show (or rather, packaging). Both the Spitta snake (which has Lizaru eye markings for some odd reason) and the Acidius snake seem to be really placid here; all the other snakes from the past three waves seem to be angry or something. They're even dripping venom!Anyways, the other main star of the set here is Lloyd ZX and boy does his packaging scheme (or whatever you like to call it) look gorgeous. The swirls around his spinner and minifig picture fits him quite well, better than the prototype packaging did. His card art, as you can see here also looks great, as well as his emblem. He even gets a gold crown border too! No wonder NRG Cole got stuck with a silver one.Other than that, pretty much if you're collecting these spinner sets up to this point, you would already know what to expect.7810435840_934a44f8e8.jpgStandard set contents. The instruction pamphlets contain (most of) the same promo material from wave three, the only difference being that the Lloyd ZX + Lizaru combo spinner is advertised.His card set is very intriguing, featuring many high-powered cards (most of them Power cards). Roundhouse Kick is far easier to preform than Spin Circle, which is another plus. Unique Power is essentially a permanent Elemental Strength/Force with higher SP costs. Crown cards like Premonition can help as well, and Opposition is all around the best card in the entire game. Because of this, there has been an sudden increase of cards specifically designed to hinder said card. All around, a great set.Lloyd's spinner is very interesting; it stands out from the other spinners from this wave and the previous wave, being the only spinner to have a non-transparent solid color. His spinner and crown also feature elemental patterns that are straight from the NRG ninja (the crown not so much), because Lloyd here can now wield all four elements. Speaking of which, his crown is absolutely gorgeous. Again, the four elements are depicted on their own quadrant, but added with the trans-dark green....let's just say this crown beats all the other crowns out of the water. Personally, it would have been nice if the silver were in said gunmetal color, just for the sake of consistency. Otherwise, he looks great; the printing decal looks superb, sharing subtle similarities from the other ZX ninja while still being unique. And the green looks great on him. His serpent emblem is featured on the back as well.Lloyd uses the same head from his previous child incarnation, so he still features his frightened alter-ego. His growth spurt went wrong or something. What's weird is that my copy uses the old head mold with the 'tri-hole' on the stud area; my other two Lloyds have the newer sealed stud variety.7810346410_ffe72ff2cc.jpgLloyd's weapons of choice on the other hand are not so great. Other than his signature weapon (apparently it's called a Super Bolt), he comes with the standard-issue silver katana and a long wooden stick. I guess Ninjago these days has a everlasting supply of these types of weapons. But since they work wonderfully well as in-game weapons, I guess that's a good thing!He also includes the 2-brick (in trans-dark green!)-1 plate wall that all spinners have. I say wall because it makes a terrible terrible card holder. Don't believe me? Try it yourself.The standard spinning configuration shown above won't work as well in the Spinjitzu game, as not only it won't provide much whacking range but also severely hinder its spinning longevity. It can be fixed by positioning the weapon lower though. There's also this configuration but in reality it makes spinning far worse. With those whips Lloyd can't spin at all.I won't talk much about the Spinjitzu game since most of you familiar with Ninjago would probably know how to play the game. I'll just say while not exactly innovative, the Spinjitzu game seems to be very fun to toy with. The cards also add an degree of madness and overall appeal to the game as well. After all, who doesn't get the urge to just spin a spinner when one is lying around?So what to say about this particular spinner set as a whole? I'd say Lloyd ZX is the best spinner set around. There's nothing bad about him (and his spinner) I can say about. Well maybe he could have benefited from a better weapon selection but otherwise he is the spinner set to get.* He may be expensive, but after all, $9.99 is a much affordable price point for those unable or unwilling (who isn't?) to get 9450 Epic Dragon Battle. Highly recommended.*: If you're really lucky enough to see him in stores, that is.

    Yeah, I just bought them (and NRG Zane) from my local(ish) Target. Might do a review on the Ninjago Wiki....My Bytar's left eye is misprinted however :glare:
    Sweet. Before doing the review, just test it out on a page titled something like User:UnkownUser/Sandbox. ;)That's a bummer about Bytar. It makes sense though, seeing as it's on an uneven surface.Does the Bytar spinner set come with the little booster thing so he can stand on the spinner?
    It looks like I was wrong about the misprint--apparently the actual Bytar minifig doesn't have a left eye, yet his card art and TV appearances depict him having one. He also doesn't include the booster thing, but he fits fine on a spinner anyway. In fact, the booster thing may actually make it worse (= easier to knock off)...Until I get my scanner fixed:Roundhouse KickUnique PowerPremonitionOpposition

    As I am typing this 9574 Lloyd ZX is available on TRU.com. My local TRU also has price tags for said set and 9573 Slithraa.Check your stores!
    Sweet! I might check the Toys R Us stores soon to see if he's there. I'm planning on getting him.
    If your TRU doesn't have him you can order the set in-store and have it shipped to your home with free shipping :biggrin:

    Now that season 3 has "quietly" started airing (in some places), would we expect sets based on it for 2013? It seems weird to start airing it without any new set promotion, especially when new characters and whatnot are rumored to appear...EDIT: Also created a page for the first episode of season 3/ episode 14. Title is called Darkness Shall Rise.

    I absolutely hate the heavy demand Ninjago has created this year. The spinner sets are literally impossible to find because of this. Every retail store lists EVERY SINGLE SET of this wave as "out of stock" or sold out.EDIT: Season 3 episode 1 is found online! Lots of spoilers but sadly no new enemies yet. Rest of the season starts airing next month.

    Ninjago.com has been updated with the 2012 summer set designer videos and an commercial for 9450 Epic Dragon Battle. Check it out!The prison tower has two features that for some reason nobody back at NYTF 2012 documented before: there is another prisoner cell at the bottom and there is a venom-dripping feature (consisting of a trash can and round 1x1 trans-lime studs).Sadly the posters still haven't been updated.....what's with these people not updating them when needed?

    So when should I start look for the new Breakout sets?

    In my experience, stores have sets before Lego scheduled them to be released. They'll definitely be out by August, but I'll be keeping an eye out for them in July.Of the summer wave, I definitely want Speeda Demon, Core Hunter (probably the darkest villain In Hero Factory -he rips heroes cores out!), Thornraxx, and Breeze.
    Even Lego's own brand stores can have them out early. Last year I remember seeing Savage Planet sets during mid-July at my local brand store, half a month before the August 1 street date.
