So I've been playing even more of the demo, and after figuring out the Brave and Default mechanics, actually changing the classes around for my characters, and grinding, I can say that I've enjoyed my time with this game. Later on, I might actually buy the game, though if I transfer my progress, the whole beginning of the game would probably be easy as heck. =P But I'm still surprised at how much control they give you over the game, allowing newer players to the JRPG genre to ease their way into the game, without taking out the things that hardcore players want.
I did mess around with the classes, and have come up with the following: Tiz as a Swordsmaster, Agnés as a Ninja, Ringabel as a Valkyrie, and Edea as a Red Mage. I have no idea whether these choices are smart or dumb, as I am a newbie to the JRPG class of RPGs. =P If someone could evaluate this setup, that'd be nice.

So I decided to download the Bravely Default demo, since I've been hearing/reading good things about it. I knew I was going into a traditional, Final Fantasy-esque JRPG. Shouldn't be too bad, right?

Few minutes in, I die in my first battle.

And I'm okay with that. Even though I'm in high school.

Not to rain on the parade of anyone who is in a relationship, that's fine and I'm happy for you. But I'm not exactly in a rush to get a relationship. Whether that's normal or not I don't know and I don't care.

So uh, turns out that TV show announcement also entails a video game! And toys and whatnot, but that's not what we're here for. So why is this actually interesting to non-Sonic fans? Because of the developers for both the Wii U and 3DS versions. Big Red Button Entertainment, the Wii U developer, has Bob Rafei, Naughty Dog veteran. He was their first hired employee, and has worked on the Crash, Jak and Daxter, and even Uncharterd: Drake's Fortune. But the first two are the ones that matter, because this means he's worked on previous critically acclaimed platform games. Sanzaru Games, the developer of the 3DS version, recently released Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. So no, Sonic Team will not be mindlessly headbanging keyboards, these are industry veterans who have worked on similar projects before.

The characters have also been redesigned. Truth be told, I actually like Tails's design, and Sonic and Amy's aren't bad either. But Knuckles must have been taking steroids or something. =P

That's all for now, I can't really think of anything else to say, besides this could be interesting.

I know that not many people on this site will care whatsoever, but the fact that this exists is awesome for me. Surprisingly, the voice acting is pretty good. The translation obviously is not exact, but overall, it stays quite true to the original. And for an added bonus, they pronounce the Chinese names correctly! I always get ticked off when Chinese words aren't pronounced correctly in media. (It's Yah-ng She-ow Loh-ng, Lee-eh Ruh-n, and Soon Woo-koh-ng people!) Though it is a bit awkward with Lie Ren , because in Mandarin, that literally translates to 'hunter'. Anyways, other names like Ruby or Jaune are left untouched, because it's not really easy to find meaningful approximations of western names, contrary to public belief.

I would post the links, but I'm not sure if the site is allowed. It's on YouTube, but in considerably worse quality. Then again, I suppose there's very few of you who will understand it. I don't even know why I posted this, maybe I just wanted to post in this blog again. And also to possibly educate a few people about the proper pronunciation of Chinese words. Anyways, that's all for now. Hopefully, I'll visit the blogosphere again soon!

(Final Note: Ruby sounds adorable even in Chinese)

I did pretty much nothing today.

Hopefully your day was more fun.

Oh, and for those who don't celebrate Christmas, Merry all the winter holidays I'm too lazy to look up.

So I realized I hadn't touched the game in a while, and got back to playing it. Pretty good, after coming from Ocarina of Time 3D, the mechanics are very familiar and I had no problems jumping back into the game. Even though it's the Wii version, I still like the controls, and being able to swing the sword while walking is a GODSEND. I don't think that it was a good call to make the graphics realistic, as they have aged horribly in comparison to most consoles, even the Wii itself! I was never a fan of 'realistic' graphics, as the next console always makes the games look hideous in comparison. I much prefer Wind Waker's art style, as the graphics are still gorgeous today, and work well within the limits of the Gamecube, instead of pushing it to it's absolute limit. Of course, if they want to please both crowds, why not stick with the Skyward Sword style? But I'm getting off track here. What I meant to say was that HYRULE FIELD IS FREAKING HUGE. Ugh, now they've made Epona necessary in order to get anywhere within a reasonable amount of time! I didn't like Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time, and I sure despise it here. Oh well, at least the dungeons are still cool, and the bosses are still easy but clever. I've only gotten to Death Mountain's dungeon, so I guess I still have a long way to go.

Also, Wolf Link is cool, and I don't care what other people say. Biting my enemies to death is just so satisfying. And the teleportation thing makes traveling through Hyrule Field uneccesary. I wouldn't mind seeing something like this in another Zelda game.

I posted this in my feed:

I like my games looking pretty as much as the next guy, but I'd want to play the next Zelda game over Battlefield 4 or Halo. Not that they're bad games, I just don't really have much interest in the current exclusives for Xbox One or PS4 as I do for Nintendo's exclusives. SMASH 4 CANNOT COME OUT SOON ENOUGHHHH

*ahem*, sorry about that. I don't know why I posted this, maybe I just felt like sharing my sacrilege-according to my classmates.

So here we are again! Apologies for not uploading yesterday, I kinda forgot... But anyways, let's get this starting up again!

    #13: Shadow the Hedgehog
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePWUTKEKySs

Now we've got some lyrical compositions going on! To be honest, I Am... All of Me has always been one of my least favorite Crush 40 songs. I know some people will like a few of the metal overtones going on, but it's just needlessly dark and edgy for a Sonic game. Though that's a complaint I have with Shadow the Hedgehog in general. =P Also, I don't feel like the lyrics work as a song for a final boss. It does nothing to show off any spectacle and I don't feel as though it motivates the player in any way to win. But hey, all an opinion.

Tune in tommorow (hopefully) for more musical goodness!
  10. JiMing
Okay, now I consider all songs from hereon out to be within the decent, good, or amazing ranges. The past two songs were in the mediocre range. Anyways, onto the music!

    #14: Sonic the Hedgehog 1

Now the Classic series that people love so much gets some representation! Like the last two, I believe this song to be a bit on the short and repetitive side, though nowhere near as pronounced. I also like how this song has a greater sense of finality that the last two lacked.

Tune in tommorow (hopefully), for the next song!

Sorry for not updating this yesterday, I was busy. I'll try to make this list daily, but no promises. Anyways, onto the next song!

    #15: Sonic 4: Episode 2
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqWrJBhXOF0

Most of my problems from the Episode 1 theme are still present, but not as extreme. It's ever so slightly longer, and each part has some variety, with an attempt at the end to build up an "epic" feel. However, I still don't like the instrumentation, and the song is still on the short side. In a nutshell, it's better than Episode 1's song, but not by much.

See you again guys, I promise some better music will be coming soon!

So since I got a few people telling me to go with the idea, here it is! I will count down on the final boss songs from every console released game that is a platformer. If you're wondering what games I'll be covering, this is the list:

    1. Sonic 1
    2. Sonic 2
    3. Sonic 3 & K
    4. Sonic 4 Episode 1
    5. Sonic 4 Episode 2
    6. Sonic Adventure
    7. Sonic Adventure 2
    8. Sonic Heroes
    9. Shadow the Hedgehog
    10. Sonic 2006
    11. Sonic and the Secret Rings
    12. Sonic Unleashed
    13. Sonic and the Black Knight
    14. Sonic Colors
    15. Sonic Generations
    16. Sonic Lost World

All right, now that that's out of the way, let's start this list at the bottom of the barrel!

    #16: Sonic 4: Episode 1

Ugh, I know I said that Sonic games have amazing soundtracks overall, but both Sonic 4 Episodes just have... Disappointingly below-average soundtracks. I wouldn't call them horrible by any means, and I believe that Episode 2's soundtrack is slightly better, but this is NOT what I expect from Sonic's great track record with music.

This track just bursts with all of the problems I have with 4's soundtracks. It's ridiculously short, to the point where if it was on iTunes, a 15 second loop would be longer than the full song. The song isn't very good anyways, because the melody is overly simplistic, and lacks any amount of drama that signifies you're at the end of the game. Ironically, the boss is one of the most difficult Sonic final bosses in recent times.

The good thing is, it only gets better from here. Let's see what comes up ahead, shall we?

I have a question for all of you in the blogosphere. I've got an idea to count down on all of my favorite Sonic the Hedgehog final boss songs from the main series (No Advance, Rush, etc.). Now, I get a feeling that many people here dislike Sonic the Hedgehog, and love mocking the games, characters, and even fans. Yes, it's true the games struggled in quality from the 2000s onwards, but I have a feeling that Sonic has been making a comeback as of late (I don't believe any of the reviewers on Lost World, as game footage of it makes it seem extremely fun). Plus, if it's one thing a lot of people love, it's music, and I feel that Sonic games as a whole have awesome soundtracks. So I'd love to maybe introduce some new songs to you guys from an underrated series. And who knows? Some of you guys might disagree with my thoughts. Anyways, that's the gist of things. I'd appreciate it if you guys gave me some feedback.

So an RPG of Marvel just opened up today in the Off Topic Culture forum. It looks great, I suggest checking it out! I got a robot char with S.H.I.E.L.D. as of now.

So remember this? Of course you don't. Well the gist of this whole thing is that I pit two fictional characters against each other for you wonderful people in the blogosphere to debate who the victor is going to be. Normally, I'd write up a quick narrative on how the battle started, but I cannot figure out how to do so for this match, so we're going to skip to the rules.
For simplicity, the Link discussed is the Adult Link from Ocarina of Time. Both characters have access to all weapons and abilities from their respective games, though they cannot have any outside assistance (this means no partners or fairies). The battle goes on until one of them is either dead or unable to continue battling. And no, their good natures don't affect them and make them into good buddies at the end. Think Death Battle rules.

    Got it? Okay... GO!

EDIT: You may now interpret which Link you would want to use. But remember, any Link is at their fullest potential when fighting.

So today, me and a fellow member going by the name Ghabulous Ghoti played an online Brawl match. Wow, I got my butt kicked so badly it wasn't even funny. (Okay, maybe it was)

That guy left no chance for me to retaliate, and I exposed myself pretty much all the time, so time and time again, I would go blasting off into the distance. Perhaps it was my choice of characters, as I played mid-tier characters Sonic and Toon Link, but he managed to pummel me with Captain Falcon (well, he was Fabulous Falcon, so maybe his sheer awesome alone did me in).

I guess I have no one to blame but myself, a majority of the time I've played Brawl was the Subspace Emissary, trying to unlock every character, and only recently did I try and improve my skills in a normal Brawl. If anyone wants to Brawl with this noob, my friend code is 4943-6690-9221. (Just expect a lot of lag)

I've literally had nobody post on anything on my blog for several entries in a row, so I'm freaking out thinking my blog is invisible or that there are bad opinions of me running through the community. I know I'm overreacting, but I CAN'T HELP IT. I'm paranoid like that.

Could people at least post saying "I'm here", so I know I'm not going mad? Thanks. If people have some tips on how to be more visible in the blog spectrum, that would be appreciated as well.

To those of you who suffer daily because of societal beliefs on who people should be, I'm sorry, and I hope you will find other people irl to support you.

To those who think disagreeing with a fundamental aspect of a person that they had no control over is okay, no matter how you sugar-coat your words, you are being no different from the average bigot.

To those who DON'T suffer oppression because of said fundamental aspects of a person, and yet are intelligent and brilliant to see through societel norms and have the ability to accept a wider worldview, great job, and keep it up.

So I heard there was a remastered version of the Ducktales games for the NES, with a remastered soundtrack as well. Given that Ducktales has some of the best 8-bit music ever, I listened to some of them, and wow, the composer did a good job modernizing them. The theme for The Moon is brilliant, and it lives up to all the hype it probably got. Don't believe me? Listen to it.

I'm also a fan of the remixed Transylvania theme. Be warned, it contains minor dubstep.
