  1. I, likewise, have just noticed the 'vote up' button. However, I recover quickly and dive across the world, leap into Dapper's helicopter, and punch him with his hand--which just so happens to be holding the mask. His fist connects with his chin, and the mask connects with his nose, turning him into a giant Gadunka. I grab the mask as Dapper grows and transforms into the Bionicle equivalent of Godzilla, height increasing second by second. By this stage, the helicopter has exploded, but thankfully, I managed to dive out, and dive back across the world, and teleport into my earthquake-proof bunker. I leave the hatch open and set up a nice high tea, with scones and sandwiches and pastry-biscuits and macaroons. I invite all those vying for possession of the mask to come around, on the condition that they all behave very well whilst at my high tea.

    My mask.

  2. [iC: Nepak] / [Onu-Metru Caves - on a Frost Beetle]

The Toa waved her arm to her right and then at her shin; the bandage was quickly becoming drenched in blood.

"Karzahni! Here--!" Nepak rummaged through his satchel and set the Onua figure between his knees. He ripped the thick fabric apart at the seams, ignoring skerricks of food and tiny scraps of protodermis as they tumbled off Manaka's shell. Before the Toa could protest, he wound the material around her lower leg, bound it with the arm strap, and tied it off as securely as he could.

Nepak swallowed and tried to slow his breathing.

"I don't mind where we go, I suppose. I need to do some thinking."

He paused; "Do either of you have any suggestions of what I should do? I'm really not a fan of violence."

"Oh. I- I-..." Nepak stopped and checked himself. He was talking to a wanted criminal? But she seemed so... easy to talk to.

Steadying his breathing, the little Matoran tried again.

"I'm sorry. I don't know very much about the situation on the whole. I was invited to join the Circle. I was on my way to join them when a fight broke out, and then I was picked up by... Manaka, did you say?" Nepak's breathing sped up again as he thought of all the distressing events of his recent past. "There's all so much going on, and my friends and advisors have all been killed and I don't know what to do," he cried. He curled himself up and held his arms, then flailed with the movement of the Beetle below him, pressing his hands back onto its hard shell.

  5. [iC: Nepak] / [Onu-Metru Caves - on a Frost Beetle]

Nepak looked up at the Toa beside him. So there are some kinder people left, he thought.

"See, I'm from Metru Nui. When we moved back here from Mata Nui, I had a job in the Archives. And then the Great Spirit died... and it seems to have gone downhill from there. Vakama has been a Turaga for as long as I can remember. I suppose he's the last vestige of my reality.

"My Turaga - he died. Whenua was as good a mentor and leader as he was a true friend. Vakama is the only person I really know. He contacted me and asked me to consider joining him; Artakha knows why. I don't know what the Circle is, really." Nepak let out a long breath. "I don't know whether joining them is the best decision. I do feel like it's the right decision, though. Hopefully I can help with peace-talks or something," he shrugged.

Nepak fidgeted with his satchel, thumbs clasping and unclasping the lock. "Oh... A tourist. I don't really know what I'm getting into. Joining the Circle, that is." The Onu-Matoran sighed; "Turaga Vakama is just about the only normal thing I know."

  7. I deflect your man-lazor with a shiny silver platter, slowly turning it towards you and covering you in a pile of men. Lazor-men.

    Yes. That happened.

I throw the silver platter at your outstretched hand, knocking the mask from it, and claim my prize.

My mask. My hyperactive sense of sentence morality.

  8. [iC: Nepak] / [Onu-Metru Archives - on a Frost Beetle]

"This frost beetle has a name?" Nepak was a little stunned. The Toa nodded. This intelligent rahi spoke, and it identified as 'Manaka'. The Archives hadn't seen everything, it seemed.

Nepak decided to take a risk. Perhaps the Toa shared his sympathies on the situation in the Great City.

"Do you know much about the Circle?" He hesitated as he received a wary glance; "I was hoping to join them. Vakama sent me a message a while ago..."

  9. [iC: Nepak] / [Onu-Metru Archives - on a Frost Beetle]

Nepak shot a glance at the dark green Toa when he heard her speak.

"I'm sorry?" His voice quivered almost as much as his diminutive figure.

"Who are you?" the Toa repeated, stressing each word.

"Nepak, Overseer of Archives Sectors 74-75, aide to Turaga Whenua, and possible future attendant to the Circle," he babbled.

  10. [iC: Nepak] / [Onu-Metru Archives]

The Onu-Matoran finally rediscovered his vocabulary.

    "I... you, speak, I...?"

Admittedly, it was a discovery in progress.

Nepak gathered himself; "Shock. I'm... in shock. I haven't been spoken to by a rahi before."

  11. [iC: Nepak] / [Onu-Metru Archives]

Nepak was beyond words. Had he just been spoken to by a... frost beetle?

He raised his head to meet the creature's crystalline eyes, a gormless expression plastered across his mask.

  12. Toa Levacius Zehvor, I hope you don't mind me picking up your labels for OOC and IC; I really quite like them ^_^ If it is a problem, I'll change it. I thought they were very clear and easy to identify.

This is the first text-based RPG in which I have participated. Rebel Toa, anarchy, tyranny, and rampant, talking frost beetles are certainly an intriguing thing to join in on.

Being an Onu-Matoran, the latter was the most enticing :3

  13. [iC: Nepak] / [Onu-Metru Archives]

    Nepak was trapped.

Within a matter of weeks, his city had been slowly populated by an array of questionable characters, from Matoran merchants to Skakdi assassins. Within a matter of days, the Archives had been taken in as a part of some gang or another's territory. And within a matter of hours, Nepak's former area of responsibility, Sectors 74-75, had become the site of a Toahunt - and a dangerous place for a lone Matoran.

Hearing the clash of protosteel and explosions in the distance had driven the former Archivist away from the central lift - and freedom from this dangerous labyrinth he once called home - and into a corridor. Unfamiliar with this part of the Archives, Nepak had decided to settle in a dark, quieter zone until the chaos moved away.

Now, the once-highly-esteemed Onu-Matoran had been exposed to some rather unusual sights in his life. Even a posting in the Cultures and Legends Sector of the Archives provided some odd articles of interest. Certainly, the death of the Great Spirit was something he found to be unprecedented, as was the news of rebellious Toa. But what the diminutive Onu-Matoran was presently faced with was nowhere short of bewildering.

A giant frost beetle trundled along the shaft, menacing-looking claws clicking as it scuttled. This was not uncommon; many of the rahi exhibits had been opened or damaged. What was perplexing was the figure situated atop its carapace.

It appeared to the purple-masked perplexate that there was a green-coloured Toa on the back of a frost beetle.

Shaking himself out of his stupor, Nepak looked around for a place to hide - no cartons, no doors, no side corridors.

    Karzahni, he thought.

    What was he to do?

It was too late to fumble around with his disk launcher: the creature was only a few bio away now.

Collapsing to the ground, Nepak reached into his bag and rifled for his most prized possession, his last connection to normality. His fingers curled around the statue of Toa Onua, patron of Earth. He hoped against hope that the frost beetle had some visual impairment. A prone, purple Matoran was not exactly inconspicuous...

  14. Name: Nepak (NAIR-pack, quickened)

    Gender: Male

    Species: Onu-Matoran

    Kanohi: Powerless Noble Ruru

    Element: Earth

Faction: Hoping to join the Circle

Powers: As a Matoran, Nepak is unable to access his kanohi or elemental powers. Of note is the fact that Nepak lacks the strength and endurance of most Onu-Matoran.

Appearance: Nepak sports black armour on his torso and feet, with gunmetal grey arms and hands, much like other Matoran from his Metru. He is not as stocky as most Onu-Matoran. Brightening his face is a purple Noble Ruru, from behind which glow a pair of deep-green eyes.

Bio: Nepak awoke on Mata Nui with no recollection of his former life. Nepak worked as captain of a mining company in the Onu-Koro Great Mine. Not long after the coming of the Toa Mata, Nepak's teams in Shafts 3 and 8 encountered an impenetrable rock layer, and Nepak had to negotiate more workers and equipment from Turaga Whenua. Nepak aided in the evacuation of Onu-Koro when the Bohrok attacked, and also helped Whenua in organising the resettlement.

Nepak assisted in creating boats for the journey to Metru Nui. Once the city's Archives had been reestablished, Nepak was assigned to be an Overseer of Sectors 74-75. In this role, he often reported directly to the Chief Archivist or Turaga Whenua, and also negotiated the obtention of historical records from each of the Metru.

Not long after the collapse of Karda Nui, rumours began to spread of rising violence and hostile visitors to the city. When he heard of a complete Sector collapse where Whenua held residence, Nepak was shocked and frightened. He fled the Archives with what few mementos he could gather.

Nepak was offered a place in the Circle by Turaga Vakama for his knowledge of history and his negotiation abilities. He is currently making his way to Ga-Metru to join what he believes is the only true solution for peace.

Personality: Nepak, who has worked in the mines and archives for most of his life, was not exposed to violence or much trouble, and having a new world thrust upon him has taken its toll. However, he is trying to stay true to his belief that almost anything can be resolved through good negotiation, and patience and compromise shown by all parties. Nepak takes sympathy on other Matoran who have been displaced, but especially those who are unable to leave their occupied Metru. He wishes to do whatever he can to bring the fighting to an end.

Equipment: Nepak often travels with a satchel of possessions, including a heatstone, a small statue of Onua, and a canister for food. He has practiced with a disk launcher, but is clumsy with the weapon. He also carries two kanoka - 638 power - but their energy is waning.

Skills: Nepak is a perfectionist and has a strong will to complete things 'the way they should be done'. He has skills in negotiation and a particular confidence in them. He can easily speak to those in more powerful positions than he, and manage to maintain a deference whilst doing so. Under stress, Nepak is quick-thinking, and also realistic.

Weaknesses: Often, Nepak's trust in the ways of the past blinds him to creativity. He tends to seek advice or instruction before working on his own initiative. Nepak has not been exposed to much violence in his lifetime, and as such is not very apt with weaponry. He also lacks the strength and endurance of most Matoran of his heritage. Nepak can be naive in his trust of others; his belief in people having an inherent goodness makes him caring and kind, but also susceptible to betrayal.

    Trivia:

    • If you type Nepak into the first box of google translate, set the first language to Lithuanian, and the second language to English, it is incorrectly translated to 'unchanged'.
    • Nepak is a custom character based on the purple-masked Matoran who is present in Whenua's hut when the player first arrives there (Mata Nui Online Game).
