  1. Well, what I would do when spriting a mask is I would start near the eyes. Get the shape of the eyes and then try to do some mask edge and mouth regions. When doing the shading, remember how the light effects the other masks. It tends to shine down from the top left from the observer's point of view. The colors, when you use the pallet, the lightest and darkest colors should be used for outlining 9 times out of 10. There are a few exceptions, but they are few and far between and shouldn't be a factor. But most of all, look at the kit up close. Look at little patterns the kit tends to do based on what kind of shape(s) the object has. Once you get familiar with the kit's trends, then copy them where you see fit (no copy and pasting, that never works unless it's a scope. Then be very careful). And the last little bits I can think of are to look at your reference pic constantly and to zoom in and zoom out often. Follow those and your eye for detail, and youout should be good. :)

  2. Well thanks, man. It's nice to see this topic has had some life to it since I've been gone. However, I don't know how much actual spriting I'll be able to do anymore. I honestly wish I could right now, but I'm kind of busy all the time now. Come summer I might, or someone else might, but as of right now, I'm probably not going to be able to do anything as far as spriting goes. And are those prototype masks? I forgot about those.

  3. Thanks! I use MNOLG assets when I can, but I try to make whatever image in my head come on the screen as much as I can, and sometimes, MNOLG just doesn't offer that. So I end up having to make my own objects. The scene where Nixie is looking down at Kai from the telescope is a prime example. The ridge of the platform is completely original.

  4.

It would be super unlikely that me or anyone would be getting this plus the news head are really ugly.

...Really? I think they look better than every head we got in Bionicle's first run, except maybe the original Mata heads. They don't have any weird angley blocky shapes like the other heads and generally just seem nice and smooth. I like them.

The inika heads were nice and smooth too, but were generally hated. XP

Am I the only one who feels this is fairly pointless? We know Bionicle's going to be at NYCC, we've already seen the pedestal. I'm kind of disappointed we didn't get anything else.

The point of this is purely to build hype, and to remind folks that a big announcement is on the way. There's no point in revealing any more at this stage when NYCC is only two days away—it would only serve to undercut Lego's panel.

Ya know, I'm not complaining, but Lego really doesn't need .ro build hype. Its like pouring gasoline on the great furnace.

  6. So, I had a bit of a thought (uh-oh). What if the part of the new storyline being either a continuation or a hard reboot is left ambiguous? Like leave just enough familiar so that we old fans could debate over if it's a continuation or not and new fans would be like "hey, I get the story as it is, I don't care. This is just amazing!" Just throw out a story and leave it for the fans to decide.

  7. Suggestions for fandom names:

    Chroniclers

    Doo-Heads

    Bone Heads

    Order of Mata Nui

Tohunga (if we could legally get away with that)

    Great Beings

    Bonklers

Fandom Nui (or Nui Fans or some other iteration)

And my personal favorite silly one would be: Canister Cases (play on words of bucket case)

  8. Before I begin, I would like to apologize for the lack of attention and material output that has happened. I am extremely busy with school, band, church, job, girlfriend, and weird parents just as I expected I would be. So, I haven't forgotten about this, just haven't had time.

So, comic 1 will come out sometime either remainder of this week or next week. I haven't started the second comic, but I need to just go ahead and put out #1 because you've all waited long enough. I hate it when hype gets built for something and it never happens and I would hate for this to happen to this project.

With all that being said, comic two will begin production...when I get to it. I really thought I would have more time over the summer to get the first 5ish comics done, but, we know how that turned out. -_- Anyway, I at least know how my first panel is going to be, and for me, that's huge. First impressions are always extremely important to me. It's like an essay, it has to have a good hook to get the reader's attention.

Anywho, hype train 2015 and stuff. BIONICLE is coming back and comic 1 of this series is coming really soon. So keep checking back for more updates! B)

Edit: So, I was going to upload the first comic but Brickshelf is being weird (keeps logging me out). I guess I'll upload it when it stops.

The outline on her right leg should be darker to make it look closer (as an image) to the left leg

Ya know, I've had that piece from the MNOLGSCCK for so long and always thought it looked weird and until you said that, I had no clue what to do with it. Thank you! ^_^
    Let's hope that wasn't sarcastic...
Nah, it's not sarcasm. I seriously always looked at it and always thought it was strange since the colors were off. I guess it was a case where you look at something too long you begin to not notice stuff like that. I dunno. I'm just glad someone pinpointed the problem so I can fix it in the future.

I looked at the image for 2 secs and understood that the outline color on her right leg was off maybe ya gotta pay a little more attention

Well, the thing is, if you've been looking at something for a long time, you get desensitized to it. You won't notice things like that. He must have drawn that foot, and just couldn't quite tell what was wrong, because he's used to how it looks. His brain thinks it's right, but he knows it's wrong.
Yeah, all that is pretty much what happened. The only thing is I didn't make the original foot, I found it in the original mnolgscck topic years ago, and saw other people use it without batting an eye. I knew something was off, but no one else said anything, so I went with it. It won't be hard to fix the original, though. It won't be fixed for the first comic, but it probably won't be too noticeable in it. I could possibly fix it for comic two, though. I have a lot of Le Matoran to make.
  10. I just saw a video where this person says they sent a letter to Lego, and Lego replied, and in their reply, they confirmed HF is not going to end next year. Lego's reply letter was not shown in the video, but this person read it off. Though it could be fake, I believe it to be genuine -- the person even mentioned something Lego worded kinda strangely in the letter. So I can say this with certainty:

    Hero Factory 2015 is coming....

    ~W.12.~

I'm sorry, but that hype train just ain't gonna leave the station for me.
