  1. Currently, I am working on a TBRPG, and I am posting the preliminary structure here for approval. The game is titled LEGO Studios: The RPG and will be loosely based on the locations and characters from LEGO Studios Backlot. The general story is that the players are seeking positions at LEGO Studios and are trying to break into the movie business. While players will be creating their own characters for a game based on a familiar theme and online game, this is going to be a very unconventional RPG. Conflict will be minimal at the most and there will be no major narrative beyond what happens to the individual characters. Here is the preliminary structure for the game. Characters Each player will be able to create their own character, with a name, physical description or image, and characteristics. All characters start as PAs (production assistants) and rise through the ranks as they complete missions and gather points. Positions Once a player reaches 100 points, they can apply for different positions, including script writer, editor, animator, assistant director, illustrator, and more. Each positions has three levels, which allows each player to rise through the ranks as they gain points. The positions of director, producer, and executive are achievable, but hard positions to reach. How these positions are reached is not yet decided. Missions Missions are tasks that can be completed around the studio. Each one has a point value. Most can be done by anyone, but some can only be completed by players in certain positions. Completed missions reward the player with the equal point value. Content Creation Here is where this TBRPG deviates from the norm. Players will be making REAL FILMS! Using software like Celtx, Dropbox, Audacity, and more, players will be collaborating in their various positions to make films for distribution online. Just like real film production, deadlines will be enforced. No purchase of software is needed. NPCs A variety of non-playable characters will populate the studio. While players can talk to them and interact with them, they are ultimately under the control of the game administrators, deciding who's where on each day. Day/Night Cycles The game runs in real time. Daytime is between 8 AM and 8 PM, while nighttime is between 8 PM and 8 AM, regardless of time of year. Times are PST. Nighttime Nighttime game play is not entirely ironed out, but night is a time for players to complete exclusive missions if they wish or add overtime. Nighttime security guards play during this time. Overview Day While each day begins with administration announcing who's where, Sunday is the day that missions are completed and announced, facilities are opened or closed, the results of night actions are covered, and any prior events are recapped. Let me know what you think about what could be the world's first collaborative content-creation text-based role-playing game, and I'll take any suggestions to adjust accordingly. Again, this is in the early stages of planning, so not everything is completely finalized. Thank you for your time and consideration.
  2. I've just finished my entry into the general art category, so here it is! 3. Hello, one and all! I have just finished my entry into the Ninjago Monster Contest, so here it is! After a long day of fighting the forces of evil, even the heroic ninja need a vacation, so what better place to unwind and have some fun than the tropical paradise of LEGO Island? This piece features ninja Jay Walker pulling off some moves on a stunt ramp in a friendly competition with Pepper Roni. I've had the idea of featuring Ninjago characters relaxing on LEGO Island for some time, but I have now realized that vision with this piece! If you have any thoughts, comments are always welcome.
  4. It may seem to violate the fan-created media rules, but after looking at all of the different forums available here, this one seemed to me like my best option. However, if there is another forum where you feel this topic is more appropriate, feel free to move it there. As for Project U and Legends of the Universe, the latter is a brickfilm that I am currently developing, while Project U is the name of a larger, multi-film project that Legends of the Universe falls under. However, you may do what needs to be done, since the last thing I want to do is get in trouble with the administrative staff.
  5. Edit: The rules have been slightly revised, especially the deadline. The updated rules are now listed below. I've run contests before, but since I want to spread my outreach for this contest, I have decided to post this one here. So, without further ado, let me introduce the... This new contest is being run in conjunction with a current animation project, titled Project U! So, what is this contest, you may ask? Well, read on to find out! Official Rules 1. You will create a new and original character and cast them into one of the four Nexus Force factions: Sentinels, Assembly, Venture League, or Paradox.2. While the character is restricted to one of the four factions, they are not restricted to the classes of each faction (ex. A Sentinel character doesn't have to be a knight, samurai, or space marine).3. You will submit a five-point turnaround of one and only one character (unless it is important for the character to have a maximum of one companion). In addition to this, you will also submit details that tell the character’s name, age, personality traits, and any other important information. 4. When submitting a character design, there is no restriction on the medium used. You may use actual LEGO pieces, LDraw, LEGO Digital Designer, pencil and paper, pen and ink, paint, digital paint, vector drawing, 3D Max, Autodesk Maya, etc.5. You will not be restricted to actual LEGO pieces (as the characters in LEGO Universe were not). However, if you want to be more inventive, it is recommended that these pieces are modeled after or inspired by pieces that can be bought from gray market vendors (Brickarms, BrickForge, etc.).6. Mustache Maniacs Film Co. staff members cannot participate in this contest. 7. All entries MUST be accepted by June 30, 2014. 8. To submit your entry for this contest, Make a reply in the thread for the contest that contains a character description and all of the required images, then make the post live. To verify your submission, send a link to your post via the “Contact Us” page on the official Mustache Maniacs Film Co. website. Prizes 20 finalists selected from the different branches of this contest will be featured in the final Project U film, Legends of the Universe (scheduled release: 2020)! 1 grand prize winner selected from the 20 finalists will play the part of the character they created! With that said, be sure to have fun and good luck! If you would like to know more about Project U, visit the "Project U" page on our website.
