  1. I'm quite proud of my place in this contest (the first BBC Contest I've entered in ) Congratulations to the winners! and well done to everybody who entered ^-^
  2. I can see the poll results, and I think I'm not supposed to since I voted..?
  3. I did self-vote for this, but there are so many incredible creations that made it through (some that didn't , but that's what happens in contests). I haven't made a lot of comment/critique on these creations individually, so I'll do that just briefly just now . #1&13: I feel although probably not the strongest in this poll, both convey a very creepy look, and fit the theme well. #2&8: Nuhvok's creator did something pretty unique within these final contestants(?) and re-imagined the original character(s), which I like. However, I can't really see the iconic shape of the Bohrok and I think the colours stray too far from the original. I love Kohrak, and I love how true to the original it is. I can't think of anything else to say other than how well it fits the theme of the contest, and how impressive it is for it's size (like all of Djokson's MOCs) #3 Not talking about my own #4 Ancient. Roa's very talked about and very impressive entry. I can't really pick out too many flaws, although the size may be a bit "too much" and although it is in no way against the rules, there are a lot of old Bionicle elements that stand out, and it seems a little cluttered. (also, I think a 14k gold skull spider mask on the chest would've looked pretty nice ) #5 The biggest of the finalists, and I think the biggest entry in this contest. It's a very impressive MOC, which stays very true to the original set (and movie version). The size and "not-cluttered-ness" are well balanced so its big, and doesn't at all strike me as a cluster of all sorts of parts that don't flow together. The fact it has a function too is also really neat. 6# Some of these Rahkshi look a little awkward next to the others, but my favourite out of these is Kurahk. The use of those Nuju Hordika masks as shoulder pads stand out to me and look really cool. They all fit the theme really well. #7 I don't think this is one of the strongest entries here, however, it looks like a set that I would see on shelves next year. It stays very true to the original Umbra while not looking out of place with the CCBS. I do think the Bionicle elements used as armour "on top" bring it down a little though, as they have a different aesthetic than the modern look. #9 I love how simple yet effective this pretty much fully-CCBS-built Visorak is. (Inspired me to make a Suukorak of my own based off this ) #10 Mata Nui is pretty solid, and is definitely impressive. Although it's a re-imagining, and the colours aren't 100% accurate like with #2, I still like the colour distribution a lot. It utilises the new Bionicle elements very effectively and I like the "cuff" look on the arms. #11 is really neat, I know a lot of people are a fan of this one, and I do understand the appeal. The stinger looks really neat, and just the shape of the model is really neat. I like this one quite a bit, though I think it seems a little too different from the original Rahi. #12 I like this one a lot, I can point out almost no faults at all with this one, and the fact it's a larger model adds to how impressive it is. I particularly like the shaping of the head and shoulder area, which is kinda samurai-esc. This is a really strong finalist and I think think the only let down would be the how gappy some parts are (like the shoulders and upper legs). I hope that this post was not too long... Best of luck to all 12 other finalists!!!
  4. I can't decide. I adore Roa's Ancient, but I also love the look of that Artakha. Maxilos looks really neat, and those Baraki look great together.
  5. It was actually pretty tough deciding between The Shadowed One and Matoro... I think I'm going to go with Matoro in this one. The Shadowed One is really nice, but that Matoro one me over when I saw it in the entry list before. (Good luck, fellow Matoro!! )
  6. I agree with what others are saying up there ^ that Tracker and Ice Bull aren't represented as well as they could have been in the smaller thumbnail. But I think my vote is with Oohnorak. It's so satisfying to see in CCBS.
  7. I voted for my MOC for this one... feel kinda bad for doing that... I do really like Malum here however, and I like that the Manas has the function!
  8. went with #3. it was hard to pick 1 out of the first 3, but Kohrak definitely earned my vote.
  9. It was really hard to decide on whether to give my vote to Mata Nui or Nuju... I feel that although it has brilliant shaping, Mata Nui seems slightly un-finished with those exposed ball joints. I think Nuju's got my vote.
  10. Although I really love Protector Dume and Nivawk, AND that really sweet Nocturn revamp, I think I like Vezon the most.
  11. gotta say, the Rahkshi one caught my attention the most here in this batch, although Umbra is pretty good too.
  12. Thanks! I do admit, the torso is a little odd, and where the sockets of the legs attach to the hips make the legs seem short, but I was trying to convey the shape of the legs (that look proportionate without worrying too much about where the connection points are), and I think that the shape it makes looks fine ^-^ Thank you both! That's exactly what I was going for
  13. Nice, I really like the bullet trail idea, and I like that you used blue ammo like in this CGI picture ^-^ (Not allowed to use that Image so just click this instead) It took me by surprise how many Matoros came out of this contest too, but this one is one of the much better looking ones.
  14. Already entered my MOC through the entry form, but I figured a few more people might see it here too ^-^ My 2015 style Matoro Mahri. Link to topic: http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/17531-bbc-69-toa-mahri-matoro/?do=findComment&comment=873130 Good luck to everybody participating!!!
  15. There sure are some good entries in this contest!! (this certainly being one of them ) This is so great, I especially like the head and how the shape of the body and tail resembles a reptile-esc figure. Although there is a lot more gold on this rendition of him than the original, and it comes close to being too much to look at, it still looks really solid.
  16. Yo, this is my Entry to the BBC #69 - "Everything Old is New Again!" I was kinda anxious about this thing at first, since when I started building about a week before now, none of the new sets where available where I live, but today they finally showed up on shelves and I got whatever I could, and finished off my entry to this contest. I think that the big aesthetic difference between a Hero Factory model, and the new Bionicle models, is the new armour add-on. I didn't use those sparingly on this thing, but I think the way they are used on this MOC work really well, and don't seem too "overused". Aside from that one new consistent piece from this wave, another thing that brings the new style of Bionicle on top of other CCBS-built themes, is that the characters are a lot more expressive, and to be blunt, a lot more fun and interesting. I watched two kids get so excited about Tahu in stores when I was buying my 2015 sets. They were completely blown away with how "awesome" he looked surfing on lava, on a board that split into huge swords. The new sets have a much higher play value too, especially with the new, or improved gear mechanism that a lot of new fans would not have seen before on a buildable action figure. (and it works so much better than it ever did on a Gen 1 Bionicle set ) Matoro was my favourite character from Gen 1, so it only seemed right to me to recreate him in the modern style for this competition. I made sure that this MOC retained the same shape and stance as the original. The frame of the torso was built on one of the new gearboxes, with an articulated waist connecting to an old Bionicle hip piece, and on top of that are white shells. The limbs are CCBS bones and so the appearance of the modern style came naturally to those. I also updated his weapons and shoulder pads using newer pieces too, including my custom Cordak Blaster using the new 6-stud shooter. I tried to keep the MOC as true as possible to the original depiction, in terms of shape, stance, colours and colour distribution. I know that was boring so here's what you came here for, the MOC! Link to full gallery on Imgur: http://imgur.com/a/isVHV First up, and probably the most important picture on this post is this side-by-side comparison of the original depiction of Toa Mahri Matoro, and mine. Here you can see how I managed to maintain the look and feel of Matoro, while updating every aspect, and detail of him. Here's the back of him, he's using the new gear box which is attached to his arm. (and why wouldn't it be? ) His Cordak Blaster and Twin Cutter. The skeleton/frame I think the biggest difference between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 styles, is that CCBS has solid frame that you build up, and then add the modular armour pieces on top of, shaping the character as you build, and that the older sets don't seem to have much of a defined system at all. Size comparison with Tahu and Protector of Fire. Thank you for checking this out, comments and criticism is welcome, and an upvote is always appreciated.
  17. Entry Name: Malathyne Link to image: http://imgur.com/1fpme1m Link to album: http://imgur.com/a/dzjAn Description: Malanthyne's body was forged from pure darkness by an unknown spirit-like entity, and used as a vessel to house the being's spirit. It's dark armor is impenetrable and it wears the bones of it's enemies like fashionable trophies. It's swords are crafted from many small bones, namely from fingers, spines and teeth and can channel Malanthyne's ghostly powers.
  18. Entry Name: Ultimate Teridax Link to image: http://imgur.com/JAHcfZZ Link to lxf file: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/ShadowBunny13/UltimateTeridax/ultimate_teridax.lxf Description: This build was inspired by several iterations of Teridax (or now just Makuta), including Makuta from BIONICLE 2: Legends of Metru Nui, Takutanuva from BIONICLE: Mask of Light, and the current depiction of Makuta from "The Legend" short animation released this year. It was built using LEGO Digital Designer and consists of 466 pieces.
