Its corrupting influence over Makuta severed and its status unknown, the Mask of Ultimate Power no longer seemed a threat to the peace of Okoto. But the loss of its servant was only a setback. With its dark power over the elements, the forbidden mask created a fearsome body for itself. Now the Ultimate Being walks Okoto unsuspected, preparing for revenge upon its inhabitants...

My entry in The Legend Continues. One of my favorite G2 theories was that the Big Bad was in fact not Makuta but the Mask of Ultimate Power. Combined with the Ultimate Mask concepts in The Art of Bionicle (page 42), it was fairly clear to me that I should build something along those lines. The shooter does work, and in addition there's a linkage function to swing the arms back and forth. (Also, in case anyone is curious, the glowing eyes are accomplished during photography with merely a laser pointer - no third-party lights or photoediting.) I look forward to your feedback, and hope you enjoy!

  2. I like how you've reflected the personalities of the Inika, especially Hahli's MNOGII materials gathering and Hewkii's challenge-seeking - often, I could tell who was talking before getting to the name. You convey better than the original story that really are completely novice Toa, as well. The premises satisfyingly reflect the Inika and Vahki while fitting well into a continuation of G2. Nice work!

  3. IC: Gaever / Ruins on the Water

The solemn situation would not prevent Gaever from explaining her response to Phantom. "The dead are buried so that their bodies cannot be marred by Rahi," she described. "It is a... respect... of sorts."

Perhaps that explanation didn't do the concept of a funeral justice, but Gaever was not a poet.

"First, though, shovels should be produced." It would be easy, and make the digging much more so; it wasn't as though the body was going anywhere while she did. All she had to do was take a metal shaft and plate - she'd already collected a few of each - and then, hand glowing with green plasma, melt the plate onto the end of a shaft, then bend it and shape the edge into the contours of a shovel. Then, dropping the crude and still hot shovel on the ground to cool, she repeated the process. "There, a shovel," she declared, extending the earlier shovel, now touchable, to Phantom.

    IC: Vlad / Library [probably]

It was getting to be an awkwardly long duration they had spent just taking in the Library. "Er... vould you like to stay here, or should ve go somevhere else...?" Vlad asked Garrotte. Did they still have anywhere to go? Not in the school, he was fairly sure...

  4. IC: Gaever / Ruins on the Water

At Phantom's cry, Gaever paused her own collection and quickly made her way to where the other Rahkshi was. "What?" she asked, concerned, as she approached, before the sight of the corpse hit her. "...Oh." It was some hapless Rahkshi, another casualty of that senseless raid... She hadn't realized that Rahkshi, too, had died that night. Just another sorrow in the wake of the Makuta... For a moment she stood silent, unsure of response.

Then: "They should be buried," she said softly.

IC: Jayar / Berry Bushes of Kaam

It might have made more sense for Jayar to test the berries, given he would likely recover more quickly if they were bad, but Shield had beaten him to it so he wouldn't argue. He joined in gathering the berries, careful to remain vigilant for indicators of other life. If something, or someone, approached, he would not be caught off guard.

    IC: Thurisaz / Gym

It would probably be a good time to kick off the final round of the tournament, except that Glass was yet to return. Hopefully he wouldn't be too much longer.

  5. Thurisaz / Gym

"Glass has won his match with Paladin," Thurisaz announced. And without that chainsaw thing, too, which had been good to see. "Both fought valiantly, but it will be he who advances to the final match!" He moved Glass' name ahead on the board, and Paladin's was crossed out. Now it was just Percy and Exxan, which he would watch with interest.

First though, Paladin should be taken care of. "Tube will assist you and Paladin to the Infirmary," he told Glass, speaking more softly. He nodded to Tube that he should go and do so. "As usual, be careful," he cautioned, though hopefully it was unnecessary.

  6. IC: Gaever / Forge

Gaever moved off the roof somewhat less enthusiastically, moving with Phantom toward the village ruins once more.

IC: Jayar / Forest of Kaam

The condition of his companions was increasingly worrying. Something had to happen...

"I'm relatively rested as well. I'll go too," he told the group, moving after Shield and Snake.

Where were they finding food? That was a good question. "It's been mostly plants. There are some edible fruits and berries around, and we've been able to make some use of roots..." He realized, with an inherited pang, how helpful Root himself would have been now... But they had to move on. "Rahi have been hard to find and catch but it would be good if we could."

He paused. "I think we need to do more than just scrape by on foraging though, that hasn't been going great... We should try to scout for a village as well. From the air we might be able to discern telltale smoke, and lights if we're up while it's dark."

  7. IC: Gaever / Forge

Gaever could understand that. She was not keen to be alone in the wreckage of the village either...

"There are things I should collect as well," Gaever replied. Metal supplies for the forge were needed. "We can do so simultaneously."

  8. IC: Jayar / Forest of Kaam

"It might be possible to arrange to work for food, rather than stealing it," Jayar offered. "Era should be able to communicate with any villagers, most species speak Matoran. We could try to arrange to do some odd jobs for them in exchange for food. It's probably not the most amazing plan, but it seems less likely to go terribly wrong than visiting the Makuta."

He pretty much had to agree with Fang on that one, approaching Krika was a horrible idea. The Makuta was inherently a supporter of Corpus Rahkshi; if they showed up at his door, the only outcome was him sending them back.

  9. IC: Gaever / Forge

Did she want to be alone? She had, that was why she had come here. But then, she had not known anyone whose presence she felt benefited her.

    She had since discovered one.

"No," she answered. "Not entirely. It is my desire to be away from violence and cruelty. But I do not wish the absence of a friend."

  10. IC: Jayar / Forest of Kaam

He had been quiet for some time. Thinking on things. People left behind, lost, and awaiting them. How poorly this quest was going, the reasons for it, and the remedies, which were all too lacking. Why the Hand, undoubtedly capable of vanquishing seven novice refugees, had instead vanished from them.

Now he stood, though what good might come of action was uncertain. "We should move on," he agreed. It wasn't as though they had just been sitting around for days, they'd spent time searching (all in vain), just they couldn't afford to wait around in any place too long. Worse than brief inaction, though, was tension and bickering. "And in unity. Each of us has no allies but the others here."

  11. IC: Thurisaz / Gym

The tournament master considered Percy's plight for a moment: had he left the platform? Based on his original specification, it could probably go either way. Luckily for Percy, though, he was not content to see one of his duels - the semifinals! - conclude in such an unsatisfying, undignified manner. "Continue," he called to Percy and Exxan.

  12. IC: Gaever / Forge

"The forge has been built here because this site possesses the required resources and isolation."

This was merely the simple, logical answer, though. It didn't touch on the damage Gaever had done to herself as she wrecked the Matoran village. It didn't touch on the catharsis she had been seeking in fleeing Corpus and returning here to build or rebuild something... a forge, or herself. Except, perhaps, through some stifled strain in her voice.

    But... moving past that.

Why was Phantom here? Gaever had no idea. She could make guesses: perhaps some Makuta had thought it would be interesting to send an entirely unlearned Kraata to Corpus and see what happened to them, or perhaps Phantom was an amnesiac. But she could know nothing of her friend's origins definitively. "I am... not sure why you are here."

    IC: Lucid / Helkyrie's Room

Lucid contemplated this for a moment. "I have no story for you," she said.

She took another sip of tea. "So, where do you get this?" she inquired.

  13. Sorry for my absence as late everyone, I should be around regularly again soon.

I think Kororia looks mostly fine. The growing thing is a bit weird, but if she's not going to be much larger than average it's probably nothing elasticity powers wouldn't enable anyways. I'll approve x2.

  14. IC: Vlad / Towards Library

"Indeed. Zer Library next, I think," he decided, leading the group in that direction.

"If you need to find out about somethink, zer Library ist probably a good place to start," he described. "It's vorth beink a little skeptical of zer historical texts..." he added quietly... "but most of zer information, from botany to metalvorking, can be qvuite helpful."

    IC: Gaever / Nynrah

With Phantom's assistance, construction of the roof began to pick up. Together the two rahkshi positioned and secured each necessary plank, Gaever explaining each step of the process when necessary. Soon the underlying support was established, and they moved to affixing shingles of sorts, thin rock slates. It would not be the most refined construction, but it would be passable - and it would be home.

    IC: Thurisaz / Gym

With Diode taken care of and everyone seemingly waiting on him, the statuesque Turahk moved to initiate the next round. "The semifinals will now begin!" he announced. "The matches this round will be:

"Paladin versus Glass, and Percy versus Exxan."

On the board behind him, these names moved into opposition. "The rules are still the same. May each fighter find favorable fortune."

An angel of sorts. She fought heroically in a terrible battle, and came out bloodied, battered, and covered in ash and soot - but, thankfully, alive.

Inspired, to some extent, by reflection on sort of a rough past year. The build itself is an exercise in humanoid shaping; the custom System face in particular is something new for me. So, looking forward to hearing what you have to say, and hope you enjoy!

  16. IC: Vlad / Refectory

Vlad looked skeptical. "I don't think zat happened. Zer slop ist really disgustink food, but zat ist all. It couldn't eat somevun." He thought about it for a moment. "Zat sounds more like zer valls, really."

    IC: Thurisaz / Gym

"Wonderful," Thurisaz thanked his excitable vassal. "As usual, be careful, gentle, and so on," he reminded him. By this time he seemed to have it down, but he would remind him nevertheless. To Paladin and Diode, he called, "Tube, here, will assist you."

    IC: Lucid / Helkyrie's Room

Lucid laughed a little. "I see," she responded. "Well... where I have been is not important. It is not where I am really from..."

"What I am, at heart, is from and for the stars. The wild forests too, and the deep seas; the wide deserts and towering white peaks. These have formed and informed me through paths unseen. In turn, I act to channel them, relay them to others who have lost or missed their presence. Individuals like Vitesse, Sepulchral, Rider... yourself... even the likes of Dervaki, if that is possible."

She took another sip of tea. "Is this what you sought?"

    * * *

    IC: Gaever / Nynrah

"All right. Assistance in positioning and securing these planks would be much appreciated," Gaever said. She had prepared rough planks and fasteners, and begun construction of the gable roof, while Phantom slept. With her helping, though, what remained should proceed much faster.

  17. IC: Lucid / Helkyrie's Room

Lucid thought about this for a moment, taking another sip of tea. "Well... who do you think I am?" she asked.

    IC: Gaever / Nynrah

"Good..." That was not the most reassuring reaction, but it looked mostly okay. "Were you wanting to resume work, then?"
