It was a good review It really helped 'getting to know the pieces'.
Thus far I adore BIONICLE G2, but thethreevirtues did a much more critical review than BZPower, which I prefer, although BZPower has only put out 1 vs thethreevirtues' 6, so odds are in BZPowers' to change my mind (about who did a better review), but that's more subjective than anything else, I'm sure that BZPower showing Kopaka being built instantly made their review better than thethreevirtues' video in some peoples minds (which is entirely okay), so this is all very subjective.
I gotta say though, these sets are offering a really good mix of pieces (as far as this construct... constraction? goes. Different advantages and disadvantages; and currently it certainly feels like it has more potential [= better] although I'll need to look back over them all to work out how many technic pieces they have vs axle holes per larger piece etc.)
The Three Virtues, in my opinion, was in no place to offer criticism in the first place since they didn't have the actual sets, but just reproductions based on pictures. This especially afflicted their early review of Lewa, since they BUILT THE SET WRONG and then criticized it about flaws the actual set didn't have. Yes, they added a correction to the description after their error was pointed out, but that's like a band-aid over a gushing wound. They really need to learn to apply more professionalism to their reporting considering the size of their audience and the transient nature of YouTube viewers (who aren't necessarily going to revisit a review or video they've already watched for updates).
BZP's review didn't offer much criticism, but it presented the set exceptionally well, to the point where people can easily draw their own conclusions. Black Six shouldn't have to try and nitpick fine details just to try to add a semblance of "balance" to the narrative. He clearly liked the set and the review (which, like all reviews, is based on his subjective assessments) reflects that.
Not just pictures. They saw the sets in person and had help from the LEGO staff at comic con with some of them.

From the first moment I saw these I was amazed at the resemblance you got at such a small scale. Keep up the good work.

This has good and creative armor coverage, has some cool spines, and looks pretty tough. He does look a bit plain but overall this is a cool moc.
-
Wow...time flies.
I should probably slow down on building and get to work getting pictures of them.
-
I feel lucky that I tend to like the armored sci-fi figures the most and they tend to be more plentiful.
This was a nice review with a good look at the parts and overall figures.

Those boxes aren't canisters but they are the coolest looking cardboard LEGO boxes I have seen.
I look forward to all of these reviews.

LEGO certainly has a big influence on my budget.
Same here
Now that I have gone from building with system to system and constraction even more so.

This review has further solidified my desire to own this set.
I will probably replace his gold pieces with gun metal colored ones. I am not a huge fan of the torso print but it works for the set.

Or just use LDD regular, not extended. I have yet to see a piece in the regular that doesn't exist in real life.
But regular lacks parts that exist. But it is a good option for those not wanting to do research.

To be honest I think allowing people to use LDD is pretty unfair since they have access to an infinite number of parts in colors that don't exist, which makes it unfair on people making real physical creations.
I have practically no parts to build MoCs. LDD is the only option for me that I even have a chance. I think real parts have an advantage because it's so much easier to build when everything is right in front of you, and it's possible to pose some pieces where the LDD program says it's impossible because of a millimeter of overlap that real parts can overcome. Plus LDD is actually missing some parts that exist in real life. So if I had access to real parts, I would use those instead.
Btw, if you think LDD has an advantage, you can use that too if you want. No one's stopping anyone from using LDD. It's all up to preference.
Hear, hear! Exactly.

Actually, now they are stopping you from using LDD. Well, pretty much. Apparently you aren't allowed to use certain colours for your MOC. And if this is the case then they may as well ban LDD models from the competition full stop.
Really angry about this, as, being a student living away from home, I don't have access to my LEGO collection. These grossly unfair rules put people like me (and just LDD users in general) at a huge disadvantage against those who are able to use an extensive collection of physical Bionicle pieces. Instead, we have to make do with an extremely restricted selection of elements. LDD users have next to nothing to work with, and it's only fair that we should be able to use LDD to its full extent. >
Hope someone addresses this and fixes it so that all entrants have an equal chance. We all want a fair competition.
Use bricklink to determine what colors have existed. That's what I do.

How long does the LDD Povray render take? I left it over night and it's still at 29%
It freezes sometimes. Especially if the computer sleeps.
-
While you are correct, please do not answer questions if you are not contest staff.Should I be fine using zamor launchers on my moc?
Yep, those are Bionicle pieces.
But it doesn't require contest staff knowlage to answer it though. It was obvious in the rules and he was just pointing it out.

A couple updates:
Here is a tutorial for rendering LDD creations, courtesy of our friends at Eurobricks.
That's for LDraw not LDD.

Erm, how does LDD work.. What is "rendering"?
LDD submissions should not have the 'grid line' background. They should be clear images of the model on a clean background (although, as mentioned elsewhere, you are free to edit the background and your image). Tufi and I are not LDD experts, so if you are looking for help on how to do that I suggest you ask your fellow members or search around online."You may build in LDD, but we will only accept rendered versions of the LDD files."
Does this mean ctrl+K for a screenshot in LDD's view mode, or an LDD model rendered in a animation program like Blender/Mia?
Ok, thanks for the help! Time to get LDDing.
Looking at someone else's response to my post is right ldd to pov-ray may not work (unless ldd to pov-ray has been updated). If it does not work a screenshot would be a good final resort. Make sure you have "high quality rendering of bricks in scene" checked in your ldd preferences so it doesn't look as bad.

Ctrl+k leaves no grid lines but is low quality. If you are like me and are inexperienced with 3d software I would recommend LDD to pov-ray converter (Even LEGO Ideas recommends it). It turns your LDD file into a pov-ray file. Then you open the pov-ray file in pov-ray, tell it the image size you want, and it will export it as a picture.

When it says "no contemporary weapons" what are the limits? An example is the toa marhi blasters aren't too unrealistic but they aren't like a riffle or tank.
-
Are pieces obtained from NYCC allowed?
That does seem a little unfair to everyone else.

I hope I'm not completely outdone.

Had to turn down my volume at the beginning due to the celebrating.
I found this coverage very enjoyable.
One little typo (kind of)- they were not the first to see outside LEGO (due to leaked pictures that came out over the past months) but officially they were the first outside the company and both officially and unofficially in person, which must have been awesome.

Hey, there! Welcome to BZPower, END! Hope you enjoy your time here.
Here in the Fan Created Media forum we don't actually start threads to discuss multiple creations of a specific category (you can post threads with more than one of your own creations, but it's better not to post threads discussing other members' creations as well--you can discuss their creations in the topics they create!); instead, we create separate threads for each piece of art we make. In this case, you've added a piece of your own art, so this topic is completely valid. But, in the future, remember that when you post in the Fan Created Media forum (and a couple other forums), make sure to create threads for your own artwork and comment on other member's threads to comments on their creations. Who knows, maybe someone will post another Brickfilm in the near future!
Also, make sure to check out the forum guidelines for Fan Created Media. As a general rule of thumb, it's helpful to check the guidelines of a specific forum before posting in it.

EDIT: Regarding the animation, oh, my goodness, that was so perfect! I absolutely loved it! The jokes were quite humurous, the graphics/aesthetics/? were impeccable and the LEGO builds and structures really fit the scenes. I honestly don't have much to critique, actually. Great work! Keep it up.
OK. I will keep that in mind.
I did read that post but didn't see anything against it, I guess I didn't look hard enough.
Thanks for your nice post about my film.

I will do my best to be there. Maybe I will start to build a contest entry while I watch.
