  1. IC: Marthuum "Of course it could, which is why the system exists. Prisons, laws, constructs of our intelligence that make us feel safe, ways to imprison and separate those who would do others ill. By stooping to their levels, we simply give them a vile validation, and make ourselves targets for the system."
  2. IC: Marthuum "But would you have? Were you ready to take a life, especially of one who was sapient? Someone who had a mother, siblings, friends?" Marthuum reached down, and lifted some ash with his hand. "The life of a rahi is one thing. They only exist in the now, the current need, want, or desire. What was in the past never happened, and to them there is no concept of future. A criminal, however," he added, taking a deep breath. "Has thoughts," he stated, blowing some of the ash away. "Dreams," he added, blowing more away. "Plans," to which more ash joined the wind. "Memories," the ash in his hand depleting rapidly. "Desires," he continued, blowing enough ash from it that you could start to see the color of his hand through the ash. "And Families," he finished, blowing the last flakes from his now clean hand. "When you take a life, you take more than just one thing. Sure, you removed the criminal from society, but what does that void leave? A saddened mother, who weeps for her lost child? A lonely brother, set on vengence? Or perhaps a child, now cast out on the streets, an orphan in this brutal society?" He shook his head. "It can't be that way. We can't let ourselves cause the same problems that our foes do."
  3. IC: Marthuum "Threaten with death?" Marthuum asked, stepping back. "No, murder only breeds murder. Justice is the only way to stop evil. While you can change the system from the outside, they will never really change. Only change wrought from within the system can change those reside within it." He shook his head, and clenched his fists. "If we allow ourselves to stoop to their level, we can never truly be the heroes that people seek, just villains with different goals."
  4. IC: Tezzek Glad that he could help some travelers this day, he went on, back home, to old Fusa Path. OOC: Tezzek, moving to old Fusa Path, and Open for interaction
  5. IC: Marthuum "A shame. A place riddled with fire and none to put out?" Marthuum stated, disappointed. "Any local dangers? Any way to help? Or should I head to the guard over this?"
  6. OOC: That's better dressed than your average citizen, that's for certain. IC: Marthuum "Ah. Still, this means you are relatively local, yes? I was wondering if there was anything around that would need a good knocking." He said, his fist impacting a cupped hand harder than it should have. "While my duty is clear to me, I've yet to be given the chance to drag the darkness into the light."
  7. IC: Tezzek "Understandable. Very well, there is an excellent place in the marketplace. They just got a fresh shipment of crab, if you hurry." He said, a slight smile gracing his lips.
  8. IC: Matoko "Oh, my apologies, I misread you. A pain of living in the wastes, to be sure." It was then that the waitress returned, taking both plates, and asking "Will this be together or separate?" Holding up a hand, matoko started "Together." Looking to his partner, he smiled. "I just got back from the market, selling some of my recent trinkets. I can pay."
  9. IC: Tezzek Sighing, Tezzek shook his own head. "Not this one. City life is too... Loud," he stated, sighing. "Speaking of, I assume that is where you two are heading?"
  10. IC: Marthuum Turning to face the well dressed Vortixx, Marthuum smiled. "Greetings. I've finally arrived, yes. Are you a local?"
  11. IC: Matoko "Vortixx? Yes... They do, don't they? Still, they sure do make good, repeat customers," He stated, nodding. Setting his empty soup bowl down, he leaned back and smiled. Today had been a good day.
  12. IC: Tezzek Here we go, he sighed. "A bunch of Wash-ups? Alright," he said, sighing. "You're on the island of Mata-Nui, now home to a fascinating number of beings and species." From there, he took a moment to breath, before describing the regions, the place they now are in, and the world as it stands now. "At least, that's where we all are now. Catch all that?" He ask, taking a deep breath after such a long monologue.
  13. IC: Marthuum The travel had been long, but Marthuum had finally arrived. Smiling, he waved farewell to the villager who had given him direction towards the village, and strolled into the town, scanning the bustle of activity. OOC: Marthuum, in Ta-Koro, open for interaction.
  14. IC: Tezzek "That's interesting," Tezzek whispered to himself. "The affects of such drink," he continued, looking at the bottle he too carried in his pack. "Greetings, wanderers! Can I be of assistance?" He called out, smiling.
  15. IC: Tezzek After his long journey, Tezzek had finally returned to the city he called home. Slowly, as any clear-headed Toa of Sonics does, he dampened the sound waves around him, subconsciously. If anyone were to walk in his shadow, it would seem like every thing sounded slurred, slowed down and distorted. But it was the only way he could keep his thoughts in the koro. He went into the marketplace, and quickly did his exchanges, trading his hunted goods for manufactured ones, alcohol and water canisters for crab meat, a fresh blade for some claws and teeth, and a small medicine kit for medicine-making materials, plants and vital organs. As quickly as he came, he was already leaving, and at the gate, he turned off the dampener, looking forlornly back to the koro. But that place was no longer home to him. Sighing, he turned away from the koro, to catch from the corner of his eyes two toa, one of Fire and one of Water, the blue one obviously having a difficult time walking, the red one keeping a slight distance from her companion. Squinting, he slowly approached, and decided that he might be able to assist these two, who certainly seem lost. OOC: Tezzek, attempting interaction with Maelri and Aeri
  16. IC: Matoko "I understand," Matoko stated, sighing slightly. "Keep your chin up friend. You would be surprised, you can find all kinds of folks in all kinds of places. Perhaps you might run into someone somewhere, some day," he continued, slowly loosing speed as his words began to sound redundant. Waving his hand, he took another sip of his soup, before continuing. "Besides, the companies of beings unlike yourself can be so much more interesting. Have you tried selling something to a skakdi? Let me tell you, the workings of their minds are pretty intense. It's pretty silly." He added, laughing to himself over his soup.
  17. IC: Matoko "Oh?" He asked, looking up from his soup. "Anywhere in particular you aim to travel? A gentle thing like you is always welcome whenever I end up setting up shop."
  18. IC: Matoko Matoko looked out the window. "I was raised just outside the koro, but I never really belonged to it. Ever since I was small, it has been my dream to own my own little shop, so I'm setting out with my trusty Ussal to find a place to call home." He turns back and smiled. "I was just in town to re-supply before I head out. It's fortunate I happened to run into you, isn't it?" It was then that the waitress returned, bearing two dishes. The milky-brothed soup was laid before Matoko, and the steaming scorpion leg atop a large lettuce before Vordes. Matoko leaned in, lifted his spoon, and blew the steam from it, before taking a sip. Sighing, he leaned back, a smile crossing his face. "Aah... Jagata, you've done it again," he whispered, before leaning in to devour his soup.
  19. IC: Matoko Smiling, the waitress took both menus, and departed. After she'd gone, Matoko turned back to the table, surprised by the new statue. "Mind if I?" he asked while lifting the delicate statuette. He hummed and nodded, his eyes focusing in and out, observing the nit-picky details. "I appreciate the attention to detail." He looked up and smiled. "Whenever I get my shop all set up, I can help you on some of the scoring. Yes, you've definitely got some pretty serious potential," He said, setting the statuette down.
  20. IC: Matoko "Now that's an interesting coincidence. I hail from the Koro of Po, though even now I'm a stranger to it. I too spend my time wandering and carving, though less so in the world of mining, but I partake occasionally. But now you've peaked my curiosity, as a man who makes his trade by carving, now I'd like to see your style." It was then that the waitress returned, bearing two glasses of water. "Are you two ready to order?" She asked politely, looking between the two seated matoran. "I'll have the Jaga-Tail Soup." Makoto stated, folding the menu up and handing it to the waitress.
  21. IC: Matoko, "Of course we can," he stated, pushing the door open and holding it so. Once inside, the potent aroma spewed forth, rolling about, weaving and wrapping about everyone. The scent was familiar, and yet not, like a memory left unremembered. "Iva says that the smell is the scent of danger," Matoko said with a laugh. "I'm certain it's her Jaga-tail stew, though." Looking both left and right, he noticed an open spot by a window, and led his newfound companion over to the table. It wasn't a few moments before the waitress came up and delivered the menus, smiling at Matoko before darting off to another table. The list wasn't very long, and yet, it seemed to stretch infinitely. Jaga Casserolle, Jaga-tail soup, broiled Jaga leg, Jaga patties for burgers, and even a few vegetarian options, Jaga-Venom Salad being the most noteworthy. Makoto, on the other hand, was completely disinterested at the menu. "So, tell me about yourself, Vordes."
  22. IC: Matoko "One such as yourself, the guest, paying for their food? I won't stop you, but I must protest," he stated, before turning. "If you insist." As the pair walk down the street, Matoko pointed out some shops that he had, during previous visits, found both enjoyable and relatively well priced. There was a fish place, a small restaurant named "Bouldercakes," and a place that specialized in Nui-Jaga based dishes. "Now then," He began. "What strikes out to you? Any preference on where to eat?"
  23. IC: Matoko "Aha, is that the case? Well then, why don't we take a seat somewhere? There's a certain wonder to just enjoying the koro for the few hours I'm here." He motions back the way he came, along Vordes' original route. "There is a fine selection of restaurants just a short way back, we could take a seat and avoid talking in the middle of the walkway," He offered, stepping aside so that a rather impatient-looking Po-Matoran could walk past. "Perhaps we could find something to suit your liking?"
  24. IC: Matoko Finally, a friendly face who happened to actually return a common courtesy. *You'd be surprised at how rarely that happens nowadays.* His internal voice stated, and he sadly agreed. "I'm Matoko, just in town to see if I can supply up for my next journey. You, dear? Certainly, one such as yourself must have someone that you're going to see?" And then it hit him. With a gasp, he started. "Oh my, I must be keeping you! My apologies again! I nearly run you down, and now I'm holding you captive. Much more like this and I'll start to sound like a villain!"
  25. IC: Matoko It Seemed to almost be fate, the running into each other. It took the wandering Po-Matoran a moment to notice the slowly approaching matoran, and it was just in time. Without a moment to spare, Matoko dodged the darkly toned oncomer, and turned to address them. "My Apologies, Madame. I wasn't paying attention to the route I was taking, and it almost took me directly into you." He said with a flourish, though it was slow and certainly not graceful. "My name is Matoko, and it is a pleasure to meet you." He said, bowing. "And yet now my curiosity is peaked. Who might be this strangely charming individual before me?" He asked the Black and Purple matoran before him. OOC: Attempting interaction with Vordes.
