Gather 'round ladies and gents, because it has come to my attention that nobody has been giving you poor chaps regular safety briefings.

    That, that is a crime.

Here's a simple one for you to start off with:

When you are about to head out to volunteer to run a parking lot for 500+ cars for a classic car show, do not grab the bottle of expired sunblock to use. Grab the bottle of new stuff, even if it says it only lasts for 3 hours, versus the 6 for the expired one. Because it won't matter at the end, when your entire neck and face is blistered and burnt from 7 hours of work.

That's your safety briefing. Thanks for listening.

    Happy Thanksgiving BZPowerites,

What are you thankful for this time of year?

I am most thankful for all that God has done for me, my family(and pig), and for having this neat little site to let me post my writings!

    Well, it's a new year. 2017.

Last year wasn't that bad for me. Made a lot of friends. Learned a lot. Got hurt a lot. Picked myself up a lot. Lot of good artists died, though; that was upsetting.

    But what about here?

My original intent of coming here, just to RolePlay is dead. I have no time for that anymore. I'm coming up on enlisting in the National Guard and I was promoted to full time at work.

I still have stories swimming about in my brain though. Things and thoughts I should put to paper(or more accurately, to screen.). I'll consider it.

I think I'll be more active here. Try to be at least. There's something to be said about this place that I keep coming back for, but I can't put my finger on it. I'm not sure I want to either.

New year. New you. Jamba Juice.

Ending to a mostly MEH series. Not enough action, just a lot of dialogue explaining that there will be action. Not terribly pleased, but the ending was definitely exciting with the outbreak of the Second Great War(World War II in our history.).

I noticed Turtledove, the author, repeated himself a lot in the writing. Yes, we know this POV Character works in a canning factory, and yes we know she pulls three levers, and yes we know she lost a husband in the war, and YES FOR GOODNESS' SAKES WE KNOW THAT. Could have easily reduced the series from three books to just two.

It does kick off the next series, Settling Accounts, well enough. But whether that punt is a 90-yarder or if it'll fall off the wayside, I don't know just yet.

I don't recommend reading unless you have read How Few Remain by Harry Turtledove, and the Great War Series, and the rest of the American Empire series.

    RPG:

Turns out describing locations without going, "It's a square. There's some tables. You eat food here. Move along" just doesn't cut it. I hate describing things without life in it.

    Stories:

Is it a custom here to just upvote stuff and never comment? Upvotes don't tell anybody anything except that you "liked" it. LIKED IT WHY? WE WANT TO KNOW JOHNNY.

    Star Wars:

Mega hype. Not buying tickets. I'll see it in a year when it hits the dollar movies. I can't get excited after the mess that was the Prequels.

    HALO 5:

If there isn't some sub-plot with Chief trying to get Cortana back I'm gonna be mad. No, scratch that, I will be glassed.

    It has consumed me.

I will see you all another time.

Apologies to those that were waiting on me, whether for something I promised or just for the heck of it.

...and talking to a friend we know. So, I ask him to tell her "Hi." for me, over the mic. He does it, pauses a second, then relays back that she said "I don't like you." Lil bro pauses and tacks on:

"Well, it isn't like that's the first time you've heard that from a girl."

    Ah, family....

Gearing up for a return. Don't know what it will imply. My interaction with the BZPRPG is probably going to die off and stay dead, as I lack time for that. I may end up writing the RPGs I'm working on as stories instead. Expect more stories, period, anyways. Bionicle is a neat concept, and I would like to dabble in it more.

Plenty of material in the Toy lore to make fun of, twist, and make ridiculous. Heck, some of it is already pretty ridiculous(Planet gets shattered, into two perfectly sized moons that take all the jungle and water with it? RIIIIIGHT.).

Of course, I am a romantic. If I'm going to write something longer than a short story, I'm going to interject romance into it one way or another(This, coming from the guy that's fallen hopelessly in love with his best friend(and can't even tell her(long story.).). What kinda romantic pairs are popular between the characters? I've seen LewaxGali and VakamaxNomaka(?) with my browsing.

Any good comedies to read anyways, period, while we're on this topic?

Or otherwise known as Victory-191 Series.

The premise of the entire series is that the Union actually lost the American Civil War, and the Confederacy existed all the way up to 1945(ish). The point of change, or divergence, is that a series of plans Robert E. Lee created were not captured by Union Scouts in 1862. The plans, Order 191, instead made their way safely to Lee's men, the attack was carried out, and the Union had to surrender.

The series is composed of 11 books, split into one standalone book and three distinct series. Roughly, the books mark the time frame of the 1880's, 1912-1918, 1918-1941, and 1941-1946.

It is a lot of information to digest, and a lot to read, if you don't have a deep interest in Alt. History or Turtledove's works in general. I was pretty much exhausted when I finished, and it took me about 2 months to get through it all with nightly readings.

Was it worth it? I have to say "eh." Some books were better than others. Parts felt rushed, and a lot of it was, I noticed, just repeats upon repeats. A good 35% of the series could have been cut out if Turtledove didn't continually repeat what the character was doing in detail, even though it he had just told you a chapter earlier.

The amount of POVs was a bit staggering as well. I found it slightly difficult to keep it up towards the end. Quite a few he could have just cut out, or used briefly to provide more light on this scene or that.

Knowing a lot about American and World History from 1860-1950 did make it less surprising when any twists came along, but it was an alright plot. Gotta say, the best character was this series' version of Adolf Hitler. He had the most character development from 1912-1945, which was a bit sad.

Overall? I say read it if you like history, but if you don't, don't. I give it a 6.5/10 for the entire series.

God, that was a lot of reading....

Didn't get accepted into the Civic Leadership Academy. That sucks, but I'm actually on a waiting list if anybody drops out.

Saw Star Wars. It was a funny, enjoyable movie. Did it bring anything new or have any original plot points from Episode IV? No.

I also laugh at those that do last-minute Christmas shopping. I finished all of mine before the 6th! It cost me about $500 though....

Production of Fallen City is moving along slowly, and plot points are being written down for the Ark #351 storyline. I also have about two other short stories in the works, and I'm still thinking about writing something a little more humorous.

Marvel-superhero-based BZPRPG profiles is effectively dead in the water right now. I finished Daredevil and Hulk, but I want to get more finished before I publish.

    Anyways, have a Merry Christmas!
