    Best. Class. EVER.

    So today was the first day of my sixth semester of college.
     
    And one class stood out far, fary above the others.
     
    IST 446: An Introduction to Building Computer/Video Games
     
    Why, you ask?
     
    We are being forced to play Mass Effect, World of Warcraft, and League of Legends.
     
    For a class.
     
    Now, I never wanted to touch LoL and WoW and am actually most disappointed Portal was apparently cut in favor of LoL... But a lot of people have wanted me to get into the ME series and I guess it's about time I did.
     
    We're also going to have to design our own games and do other work, but we're expected to play at least 7 hours of these games. And some other smaller ones will be touched on, like.... Farmville...
     
    It's really looking to be my favorite class of the semester already.

    Finally saw it with a buddy tonight.
     
    It was phenomenal.
     
    Unlike me, he has read the book, and he felt the movie broke the stereotype and was indeed better than the book. We both agreed it seems ludicrous for it to be split into three films, but after sitting through this one, I'm glad. There was so much packed in there I'd hate for things to be cut out.
     
    If only the actual trilogy could have been similarly split...
     
    Anywho, if you haven't - go out soon and see it! I'm glad I didn't wait for a DVD release on this one.

    Sword Art Online

    Anyone here watch it?
     
    A friend of mine has been trying to get me to branch out in my anime viewing. We were working on a project and taking a break and he convinced me to watch the first episode.
     
    That was five days ago.
     
    I've watched 16 episodes since.
     
    And of course I just learned Max Factory is coming out with a Figma of the main character... Looks like I'll get to enjoy a new action figure out of this show too. Yay me haha.
     
    But really, I am enjoying it. The concept of the anime - being stuck in a virtual MMO - is interesting to me on its own. But the execution of it I found pretty different, in a good way, as well. It's very episodic in that most of the episodes (at least in the first half) aren't directly connected, but there's still an obvious progression of time and things changing. Part of me wishes they did break it down and tell more of the story to make it last longer, though.
     
    It's also an ongoing series. Rare for me to get into one like that. Granted, there's only a few episodes left, but there'll be some suspense at least since I can't marathon them all yet.

    So one of the ways E-House [Engineering House - my special living option dorm] is raising money for THON [charitable dance marathon] is staging a Coin War. Basically, there are cans for each floor of the building. You put pennies in your floor for positive points and other coins into other floors for negative points. The winning floor gets a pizza party and all the money collected goes to THON.
     
    But that's not the awesome part, oh no.
     
    I walked past the guy as he was cleaning up today (I guess I never saw him during his shift before?) and took a look at his cans.
     
    They were Bohrok cans.
     
    So I had to stop and talk about it. Turns out he did collect for a few years but not too long. Still regards them as his favorite LEGO sets of his childhood though.
     
    So yeah. Bionicle stuff. Good times man.

    Hey guys! So I'm being interviewed in a few days about the Best and Worst Video Games of 2012 (no idea why the school newspaper's doing an article on that, but no complaints here). So I'm reaching out to gauge opinions.
     
    So, to YOU, what would you rank as the BEST and WORST video games that were released this year? You can have multiple games under each category, I'm just looking to see what you all consider the top and bottom.

    This is one seriously fun show and I don't know why I hadn't watched it sooner.
     
    I mean, I've been meaning to, but I just procrastinated so much from it.
     
    But I just got halfway through it (it's only one season, 25 episodes) and I'm simply loving it.
     
    And of course I want a bunch of the S.H.Figuarts for them now... Sigh...
     
    Really though, you all should watch it.

    So About Halo 4...

    I hadn't realized just how bad the Limited Edition was. :|
     
    I'm probably going to try and return it as soon as I get it. And exchange for the standard edition if at all possible, but I don't see that likely.
     
    So looks like I won't be owning it for a while... At least I'll get to play it via the launch party I'm hosting Monday...
     
    And the pre-order bonuses were pretty lame too so I'm not worrying about those.

    The video game portion of my monthly haul. And the real reason this has been split into several entries... Because of all of this:
     

     
    Soooooo yeah. I wasn't going to get the LImited Edition, I swear. But last week, I got an email from Gamestop about my original pre-order (since they were now processing them). Seems, as I made it all the way back on March 7th, my credit card had since expired. So I thought "no big deal, I'll go update it."
     
    It wouldn't let me. D:
     
    So... I caved, cancelled it, and swiftly pre-ordered the Limited Edition. I'm weak like that.
     
    So far I like it all. The statue I didn't think I'd want, but it looks impressive and I'm glad I have. I'll have to find a use for that belt buckle though... The flag is getting hung up in my dorm room window for all to see. Washington's journal I haven't read yet.
     
    And the game? Well... I only played for an hour so far. And half of that was spent wasting time in a mini-game.
     
    I have a feeling I'll be enjoying this for a while.

    Oh, and would anybody be interested in daily blogs about my AC3 journey? The Pokemon ones seemed popular, but here my worry is that everything would be spoiler-filled and not that great to be blogging about. Let me know!

    So there's a toy show going on in Japan for Tamashii Nations. And they're showing off their new D-Arts.
     
    I showed you Mewtwo already. Well now here's Charizard!
     

     
    Blastoise and Venusaur are above them (and you can even see their feet), but no pics yet.
     
    They also apparently have a Pikachu in there somewhere.
     
    And on a related note, there's also apparently a ton of new Digimon D-Arts somewhere. My wallet is going to despise me next year...

    So some of you may have noticed me posting pictures in my haul threads of some Digimon figures. They're from a line called "D-Arts," which is all about highly-poseable, highly-accurate, highly-detailed action figures from games. The most popular sub-line right now is for Megaman, but they also have Persona characters and more in the line.
     
    We haven't heard anything on the Digimon in a while, which is where my interest lies. But today, we may have gotten even better news...
     
    They're branching into POKEMON!
     

     
    D-Arts Mewtwo was just revealed and in my opinion he looks incredible. Just look at that articulation on his tail! :3 And the Pokeball Tamashii stage and Shadow Ball effect... And it looks like he'll come with a static Mew... Yeah. I'm getting this. It looks terrific.
     
    No idea WHEN it'll come out... But I can't wait to own him.

    Pokemon White 2: Day 11

    Really didn't get to play much yesterday, and when I did itw as slow grinding. But that's fine because tomorrow I have a 24-hour gaming marathon in which I'll have plenty of time to stop being scared and face the Elite Four!
     
    Oh, I also fiiiinally thought of a nickname for my Espeon! Now if only I could do the same for Lucario and Electabuzz before I go after the E4...
