Still slow going in the OGD this week, with Greg just returned to us.

    KARDA NUI
    • Takanuva will be cured of his shadow affliction in his blog.
    DWELLERS IN DARKNESS
    • Darkness has remained with the Shadowed One throughout his correspondence with the Order of Mata Nui and his leaving Xia.

    THE BIG PICTURE
    • A pocket dimension forms naturally whenever a universe comes into being. An alternate dimension, on the other hand, is formed whenever a decision is made in the main universe.
    • The "Paradise" from which Mata Nui was said to have come in 2001 is an actual location that is still relevant to story.

    GLATORIAN UNIVERSE
    • In 2009 there will be creatures, but they will not be called Rahi, as that is a Matoran universe term.

    GENERAL

    -Physiology
    • Takutanuva was a mix of both biomechanical and energy in armor.

    -Masks
    • Vortixx, the Barraki's species, Lariska's species, and probably Sidorak's species can all use masks; Krekka's, the four-armed giant's, and Nocturn's cannot.
    • If a past self of a Mohtrek wearer is killed, an alternate universe is created in which that being's actions up until then never existed.

Not a joke! Not an illusion! The July issue of Brickmaster arrived in my mailbox today!

I finally got my hands on Comic 13, my favorite issue for its magnificent artwork. But that wasn't so simple to accomplish. Back when it was actually July, I waited, as I often do, weeks with no sign of the magazine heading my way. It was late August when I finally realized I needed to poke Lego Customer Service to send me my belated issue. So they sent me a standard Magazine of the May issue, no comic, and the little toy. After a few days I got around to calling LCS to correct their inexplicable mistake -- I wanted my fav comic in print -- and they agreed, of course, to ship the correct issue. Meanwhile, my September issue came quite punctually. But I waited about a month for the July issue, and again nothing arrived. So, just a few days ago, I called one last time, stating the situation plainly as possible. Lo and behold, patience triumphs. Jeez.

Despite absolutely dreary weather, a ray of sunshine comes my way. So yeah, I'm a happy man today . I stopped by the Borders conveniently located at a bus stop on the way home from school, and to my joy, they had The Final Battle stocked aplenty. For anyone who wants to pick up the book sooner rather than later -- GO TO BORDERS. THEY HAVE IT.

I read what I could on the bus/train ride on the way home. As I type, I haven't made it even close to the ending yet, so it's still going to be a surprise to me. But I'm eager to read on and find out just how accurate my infamous "Big Picture" theory, the theory I've nursed since April 2007, is. This is the final revelation -- right or wrong. Either way, I finally get to shut up.

All this, and I still get to watch the new Terminator and Heroes tonight. Unfortunately, I feel like homework doesn't stand a chance tonight.

Some days, you just never seem to get a break. I took a day from school yesterday just to catch up on all of my work. Even though I worked all throughout the day, I was up until three in the morning. Even so, I still didn't find time to study properly for a chemistry test. If this is high school, I don't want to know what my workload will be in college. I fear for my life.

So on days like these, sometimes it's just best to take a break from serious things in life.

    It's a dual-function ability for his shield.

Every vote counts! Some polls, like mine, have lowish activity, so vote, man, vote! Thank you to everyone who has voted in the poll so far .

So yeah, if you like my idea, I encourage you to cast a vote for #5. Thanks!

So much to talk about today. First off, have a Ki Nui spinny avatar.

    http://www.majhost.com/gallery/DihydrogenMonoxide/zz/kinui.gif

    But more importantly...

Oh God, it's here. It's HERE. Heroes Season 3 premeirs tonight! Eight o'clock man! Heroes: Villains, looks a little... neh, but it'll inevitably win me over. I'm also catching up on the Terminator show as well as House. We got some good TV.

I'm also glad Matoran of Sonics were named in the serial today. De-Matoran, I assume, is derived from "decibel."

    Lend me your approval!

Thank you to Varaka for inspiring me to start a content block for blog approvals. Now I need it to grow. So yeah, if you're happy with this blog, I encourage you to drop your approval image in the comments. Or you can clap your hands, but that's not as fun.

    Thank youuuuu.

In other news, we have serius plumbing issues at home. Any water we run, drain, or flush gurgles up in our basement. Haven't showered in days (it's cool, it's a long weekend). Roots from the bushes on our front lawn are blocking the pipe leading to the street. So we don't just need a plumber who charges us way too much to poke a rod down our pipes, we need guys to come in and excavate our yard. What's next, are they gonna find dinosaur bones? And it's all because of Ike. IIIIIIIke.

Also, if you'll notice, I revamped the header in the first content block, which looks quite nice.

Here we go -- Farshtey Feed #2. I'd like to congratulate my brother on turning fourteen today. Wish him happy birthday!

    KARDA NUI
    • The Axalara T9 was not intended for any specific Toa.
    • It will take hundreds of thousands of years for the Ignika to run out of power.
    • All of the vehicles could get supercharged under the right circumstances.
    • Even if one of the Mistika Makuta got new protosteel armor, he (or she) still would have limited access to his powers.
    • The energy in the lightstones is one of the energy sources that causes the mutagen.
    • Ignika's waking up Mata Nui would not deplete its energy.
    • Toa Ignika knows what the Toa Nuva are fighting for.
    • Toa Ignika wants to experience and understand Matoro's heroism.
    • Since Toa Ignika was inspired by Matoro, his voice sounds a little like Matoro's voice.

    DWELLERS IN DARKNESS
    • The Toa Hagah took Zaktan beneath the Coliseum with them.
    • The Toa Hagah are on the right trail.
    • The Mask of Rahi Control, unlike the Komau, can work on multiple targets at once.
    • The Mask of Rahi Control cannot control insects very well.

    BROTHERS IN ARMS
    • It's doubtful that Jerbraz would turn visible again if he died.

    METRU NUI
    • The Matoran of Metru have not yet reopened the coastal gates.
    • Being put into stasis in the Archives, the Kardas Dragon will not explode, since its ability to create energy will be slowed along with all its other life processes.
    • Helryx and co. came through the gate the Shadowed One opened in Time Trap.
    • The Artakha Bull (or mutated Kane-Ra) guarding the Blade Burrower map under Metru Nui simply adopted it as its territory.

    THE PIT
    • Lesovikk and Sarda have captured some prisoners.
    • Pridak and Mantax are working separately in their evasion of Hydraxon and Lesovikk.
    • The Ignika chose to transform Dekar into Hydraxon because it would be useful to fight the Barraki with an old enemy of theirs.

    THE BIG PICTURE
    • The places where the Ignika was forged and cooled were in the Great Beings' own universe.
    • Mata Nui is not capable of leaving his own body at will like a Makuta.
    • The Great Beings set the destinies of what they created.
    • Greg would say that Mata Nui cannot create energized ptotodermis.
    • The energized protodermis pipes that leaked onto Mata Nui were put there by the Great Beings.
    • Energized protodermis was in some placed specifically placed, and in others it was not.
    • Mata Nui's obscurity is a byproduct of his running the universe.
    • Destiny is immutable even if one sees the future with a Mask of Clairvoyance.
    • Greg would say that Mata Nui cannot open portals to other dimensions.

    GENERAL

    -Characters
    • Hydraxon could wear a mask if he wanted to.
    • Lariska will be appearing again soon.
    • The Piraka most likely got their weapons from Xia, since they got their weapons as dark hunters.
    • Vultraz was rebuilt into his larger form (thought he was mutated?).
    • Ancient was recruited by the OoMN shortly after the founding of the Dark Hunters.
    • Sidorak's species could use Kanohi.
    • Matoran of Plant Life are not rare.
    • Greg would say probably Toa of Iron and Magnetism are the most rare types, given that the majority have been killed.

    -Creatures
    • There aren't a ton of Mana-Ko.
    • There were not many other organic life forms other than the birds on Mata Nui.

    -Storyline
    • The voice that told Lewa to get the sundial was not Krakua.
    • Here's why the Toa Nuva had so much trouble fighting Rahkshi and the Toa Metru did not: the Rahkshi the Nuva fought were under direct orders from Makuta and being directed by him. The ones the Metru fought were wild. It's the difference between running into a dog and running into a trained attack dog.

    -Brotherhood of Makuta
    • The Makuta do not have psychic barriers to keep their light from replenishing, since they have consciously rejected it.
    • There's a possibility some Toa Hagah teams became corrupt and served in the Makuta's armies.
    • The Makuta's masks do not all have alarm devices.
    • Teridax was not planning to use the Nui stone on Ahkmou if he became a Toa.
    • Most Makuta have a personal weapon cache.
    • Teridax's being crushed and evicted from his armor was not a part of his Plan.
    • Icarax felt that Miserix was not politically smart enough to survive.
    • The Makuta made Destral's teleportation system before the Great Cataclysm.

    -Physiology
    • Bionicle beings only need to eat every couple of days most likely.
    • Greg doesn't believe Makuta or Toa have vocal cords.
    • A Matoran couldn't reconstruct himself to the size of a Toa because his muscle tissue would not be able to support parts that large.
    • It takes a long time for a Toa to recharge from a nova blast.

    -Language
    • The "-ka" suffix from the words "phantoka" and "mistika" could be said to mean "spirit," alongside the words "Iden" and "Mata."

    -Real Life
    • As far as Greg is concerned, how the weapons from the Xian Weapons contest work and how they are made is what is considered canon.
    • The new naming system will have more of a Greco-Roman feel rather than Polynesian.
    • Jeremy Brazeal will illustrate at least one of the level 3 readers in 2009.

Ike ruined the carpeting in my basement. We had been together for a long time, now it's time to say our good-byes. Rugs typically don't talk, so we were short.

I have a killer sore throat today, so school didn't seem appealing. I didn't go, just ate soup and crackers. In my house. Alone. I think I have strep throat. I certainly have something throat.

Looks like I'm giving you Farshtey Feed 2 tomorrow.

Here's the thing: this MOC was too cool to die in BBC.

So I'll cheat and post it in my blog instead, where I can see it getting more comments than in the MOC forum. BBC was pathetic. People come in saying things like "I don't see any flaws except..." as if that's all you look for when you judge art. So constructive criticism -- or even just supportive comments -- on parts like the legs (I suggest taking a look at how they are jointed to the body), wing design, or the body would be appreciated. I think we can beat three posts, don't you? And if we don't, I won't cry myself to sleep, but it's just a courtesy.

Side-notes: Can't wait til Heroes Season 3 on Monday! Finally.
Saw my first thermite reaction today.

    > Vote Here <

So, this is my plan for the KanohiJournal contest.

Trying not to sound too pretentious, I consider this version of Nuparu's aqua blaster blade to be the solution to a problem.

Nuparu’s aqua blaster blade is mentioned and seen in action in the books, and, if you want to be particular, is therefore considered part of the canon storyline. Here’s the thing. The weapon is only mentioned in the books because the prototype Nuparu set that Greg Farshtey was given to work off held a blade weapon. But here we have the final, marketed version of the set that has a shield instead of a blade. And supposedly now both the shield and the ABB are part of the canon. This creates problems. Nuparu shouldn’t be able to carry so many weapons. Carrying a Cordak blaster, shield, and his aqua blaster blade would make Nuparu prohibitively bulky, and he just doesn’t have the hands to carry three weapons at once. It also stinks to have a set that doesn’t even include the character’s main weapon that is featured in the story.

Now, I have an entry that reconciles all the story and even set problems concerning the ABB quite elegantly, I think. This ABB is a dual-function ability of Nuparu’s shield. Now Nuparu doesn’t have to deal with the problem of juggling three weapons anymore; his protosteel shield and aqua blaster blade are now one and the same. It’s the same difference as calling Pohatu Nuva’s climbing claws the Kodan ball when they are latched together. Just as the old Toa Nuva and Toa Metru’s tools had dual-function abilities, Nuparu can now switch his weapon between shield and blade modes. Nuparu can split his shield apart, holding one of the halves in his hand like a blade and attaching to it the power cell kept on his back to power its shock-wave function. He then relocates his leg armor to act as a brace for the blade. With this armor removed, he now has ample space to store the other half of his shield on his back. Now anyone who has the Nuparu Mahri set to begin with already has all the pieces he needs to build his melee weapon, because the blade is now in the set.

For anyone who wants to put the nagging inconsistencies of the aqua blaster blade to rest, assuming the contest is going to be poll-based -- this is the entry to vote for. If not my entry, choose another one with dual-function idea, although I don't know if there will be many.

If you want to lend support to what I consider to be the smoothest possible resolution to the story problems of the aqua blaster blade, you can use this banner.

Hello there, readers! This is the first entry of the Farshtey Feed, my OGD Weekly Digest. Come here every Friday to get condensed notes from the OGD. Notice the new bar in the Links box. We'll see how this goes!

    KARDA NUI
    • The waters of the swamp glow in places.
    • Tanma, Photok, and Solek are off fighting other Shadow Matoran during Endgame.
    • Mutran creates the Klakk that end up in Karda Nui.

    • Mutran creates Klakk in Karda Nui for defense and because Rahi creation is his profession as well as his hobby.
    • Mutran wanted to create Klakk in Karda Nui to harry the Toa.
    • A Klakk cannot destroy mental shielding.
    • The organic stone suspending Mutran's hive was a variant of his living rock.
    • The Makuta in Karda Nui do not know of the energy storms.
    • The Mistika Makuta took their swamp forms and then got locked by the swamp mutagen.

    DESTINY WAR
    • There is a connection between Nektann's spiky Muaka and the spiky Muaka the Toa Metru encountered near Makuta's lair returning to Metru Nui.
    • Jaller and probably Hahli are the most affected by Matoro's death.
    • Trinuma is offshore Destral.
    • There are about a half dozen Skakdi warlords.
    • Female Skakdi are actually more vicious and destructive than male Skakdi.
    • Zaktan is with the Toa Hagah when they come to the Coliseum.

    DWELLERS IN DARKNESS
    • The four-armed OoMN member's axe has multiple blades on each side.

    THE BIG PICTURE
    • Mata Nui had no need to sleep when he was awake.
    • Greg would say that even Mata Nui would not live forever if the Matoran always kept working.
    • The forges and caverns said to be where the Ignika was forged were someplace other than the Matoran universe.
    • The Great Beings regularly wear some clothing.
    • If Greg had to guess, he would say the Bionicle planet is smaller than Earth, although that is just a guess.

    GENERAL

    -Locations
    • The Heart of the Visorak was on the Tren Krom Peninsula.
    • The southern continent is bigger than the north.
    • The Pit is south of the northern continent.
    • Ko-Metru is naturally cold.
    • All the Rahi native to Voya Nui are native to the SC.

    -Characters
    • Umbra's mind is not shielded.
    • Lhikan saw a lot of Toa in his time (as a Matoran?).
    • The Tahtorak on Metru Nui probably came from Zakaz.

    -Storyline
    • Everyone felt it when Jovan's team brought Mata Nui back to full health after the Great Disruption.
    • The Toa who subdued the Kanohi Dragon on Metru Nui the first time were visiting, since the city was a major trade port. They were probably a team visiting.
    • The Kanohi Dragon was sealed away in the Great Barrier.
    • Tuyet's betrayal was 3500 years ago.
    • The five Toa Mahri (without Takanuva, so he could guard the city) subdued the Kardas Dragon, then Takanuva disappeared.
    • Nocturn has been captured.

    -Brotherhood of Makuta
    • The other Makuta serve projects at Teridax's discretion.
    • The Toa Metru's creation came as an annoyance to Teridax.
    • Teridax can deduce something like the Codrex must exist, but otherwise he does not know of it specifically.
    • Teridax learned how to wake up the Bohrok from Mutran's encounter with Tren Krom.
    • A protosteel weapon will always be strong enough to pierce a Makuta's armor.

Incredibly, I received my Brickmaster September-October today, on the tenth of the month. I'm a happy man, since typically I get my issue on like the 25th... of the next month. On that subject, I complained to Lego about not getting a July issue, and I am still waiting on that issue to arrive in my mailbox, in September. Is that right? Anyway, here's some photos, including some of the exclusive Klakk set.

No one has rated this blog for almost two years now.

But it takes only one to tip the scale from 4.0 to five stars... It would be nice to have that, having cared to post some pretty good entries in my time. On that subject, I'm posting the first OGD Weekly Digest entry tomorrow.

I was quite impressed today at school. My friends knew what I was talking about when I said, "So, you hear what they did in Switzerland?" I got into this fanboy discussion with one guy about Nikola Tesla and how the FBI stole away the blueprints for his particle beam, like the real-life plans for the Death Star. Another friend told me that his uber-geeky physics teacher compared the likelyhood of the machine creating a black hole that would swallow up the earth to the chances of the machine spinning around and turning itself into a 1980s Buick.

Be wary for the Buick, my friends.

Just to warn you, this is sort of a storyline rant. Don't take it the wrong way -- I like the story, always have, but sometimes things just need to be said, you know. This time around, it's about Hewkii's mask power.

I'm reading through Prisoners of the Pit again, and Hewkii is using his mask of Gravity to make a 200-foot venom eel slam into the sea floor and a Takea shark float helplessly away to the surface. And I'm thinking this is just one of the most miserable plot defects I've encountered in Bionicle. When you're maneuvering underwater, what is the force that makes you sink or rise? It ain't gravity. It's bouyancy. Density determines "weight" underwater, and mass is almost a negligible factor. The hardcore theorizers will blame it on altered physics, but honestly, do the same tweaked physics that allow for a life-supporting ocean magically cause water pressure to cease to exist? Gravity is the most useless power to have in the ocean. Consider this: the same multi-ton ocean liner that sits like a permanent fixture on land stays afloat in water. That's what it's engineered to do. It's all about density. A compressed block of steel of the same exact mass of the ship would sink like a stone in the ocean, but the ship is constructed with specialized, hollow chambers that make it of greater volume without ever increasing its total mass, therefore decreasing its density. And that turns that hopelessly sinkable block of steel into a reliably bouyant sea vessel. See how relatively little it takes for density to overcome the "mighty" pull of gravity? How could Hewkii use the force of gravity against sea creatures endowed with natural floatation mechanisms?

    Just thinkin. =]

BTW, I will be away from the net until a week from Sunday.

Also, if you would be so kind to read this post, tell me what you think.
