I gotta get this BBCC entry done, I only have 2 days left! Usually I am an early entrant, however I have been extremely busy lately between work, home and Brawl! Sadly I may not be able to finish in time but I am sure gonna try. I suppose I should leave a teaser pic.

    SQUIDPACK!

I love strategy games, and I have just recently discovered Advance Wars 2, Black Hole Rising. I love it, every aspect of it. The quirky COs (commanding officers), the comical music, but most of all I love all the different unit types and the level of strategy involved. Each CO has unique powers, some have stronger infantry units, others have better defense and economy. There is air combat, naval combat, long range combat, it is endless!

So, has anyone tried the new AW on the DS? If it is anything like this one I must have it. Perhaps the best part is the ability to link up and battle another human opponent, granted the game AI is good, but it is clearly not as good as another experienced player.

35 bucks for both of these games was a great deal, they are both brand new and sealed! Hollywood Video of all places had quite an impressive selection of new and used games! I will be going there in the future for sure!

Everybody knows about Chrono Trigger, I have mastered it on the SNES and PS1 remake, this one has an extra dungeon though so I finally ended up getting this version. It also comes with a poster apparently, that sticker says first run only, maybe I should not open this, collectors item perhaps? Darkstalkers for PSP is a 2D fighter, which plays alot like the huge arcade hit, Marvel vs Capcom 2 and I loved that game. Busting out a 60 hit super combo is most satisfactory, I guess the game has wifi also so perhaps once I get some practice in Ill be able to do well online!

This week were going back to the 80s!

    6391 Cargo Center

Description: Released in 1984 as part of the town series. Containing 536 parts and 5 minifigs, retail price then was a mere 20 bucks. Today can be purchased MISB for a whopping 700-1000 dollars and is very difficult to find it sealed.

My Take: I saw this set as a young child, I wanted it but 20 bucks in 1984 was alot to be spending on a toy. Sure wish I had gotten it though, now it is worth a small fortune! The set itself looks pretty fun, even for an older, basic set. There are forklifts, garages and a chopper! This set also features samsonite bricks, which themselves are collectors items.

    Okay, so this just arrived...

Now the box is in very good condition for its age, almost 10 years old now. Should I open it and use its wonderful parts for MoCing, build the set itself or just leave it sealed and let it continue to gain value? I cannot decide!

Not sure if this is just regional or not, but participating Fred Meyer stores have all lego except Indiana Jones and Star Wars sets at buy one get one of equal or lesser value. This means Bionicle, Racers, Castle and the other themes Fred Meyer carries. Ill be getting in on it, I need some more of those Racers sets, new parts in purple and lime green! I used some of the new parts on This terrible MoC. Just messing around, they had a sort of vest looking effect.

I see someone else has beaten me to using the new purple parts, as seen Here. That is a pretty sweet looking MoC by gabriel, I was gonna use the same part in the same way on the torso, I guess he had the same idea and executed it well.

Pittsburgh pulled it out and won the Stanley Cup last night! Congrats to them, they battled all the way to a game 7 win, in the hostile Joe Louis arena of Detroit.

Can we say dynasty? I think this game was actually more entertaining than the NBA finals as a whole.

So I managed to beat the deadline and get something entered, Here is the topic, please do comment and critique!

    Also, these came in today!

Chrome drills and an antenna! Yay!

Well I got to work today and settled in, little did I know the day I would have.

A truck pulls up to our outer gas pumps, and calls for me to open it. I do, and routinely jot down the license plate numbers, vehicle model/color, and driver description. After he fills about 58 dollars, I notice he is acting strangely and I exit the store to check on him. As I walk up, he starts his truck, so now I know he is going to try and get away.

Probably not my smartest move, but I was angry, I chase after the truck and slam my fist into his window to get his attention. He looks at me with a look of fright, acclerates very quickly, knocking my elbow on his front headlight very hard and drives away like a mainiac. He would have ran me over without a second thought, and nearly did had I not pulled away when I did. I could see it in his eyes that he was desperate, but still I was very angry and my adrenaline was pumping like crazy.

Once I get back into the store, I notice blood coming down my arm, and see a gash on my elbow. I must have been so pumped off the rush I didnt feel how bad the injury was. I called the police, they took a report and picture of my injury. They also told me to never ever do that again. Turns out the guy is an escaped convict in a stolen vehicle. I will be pressing charges if he is found, if the thinks he scared me he is oh so wrong. Quite a day at the job!

Scan the code, break the code, BREAK THE CODE!

    8479 Barcode Multi-Set

Description: Released in 1997 for a retail price of about 70 dollars, today this set sells MISB for an astonishing 350 bucks, clearly a collectors item. Containing 1280 parts, this set had a unique function in that it had a code pilot brick that could read barcodes, each one resulting in a different kind of function.

My take: Never had this set, I am still confused about the whole barcode thing. From what I have gathered, each time the code pilot reads a barcode, it results in the truck bed lifting, or the pincers in the front moving. Not sure what else could be done with it but at any rate, it is a valuable set and a neat part of technic history.

Yea, I am an impulse buyer when it comes to lego parts. I just ordered 81 of the titan sockets and 78 of the newer ball joints! Anytime I see lime/orange/purple/translucent colors, I end up buying em. I really need to break these habits!

It has been a long time coming, trans orange chainsaws!

    6983 Ice Station Odyssey

Description: Released in 1993 as a part of the Ice Planet line. Retail price was about 50 dollars, can be found MISB today for about 100 bucks. Containing 325 parts and 3 minifigs. This set was the largest of the Ice Planet series, comes with a nifty looking baseplate and large trans orange domes. Of course, the chainsaws and skis are there also.

My take: This looks like one of the sets I should have gotten. The rockets have magnets on them and attach to the robotic arms seen there, cool. The ice planet minifigs are some of the most visually alluring ones, with their trans orange visors. This set manages to do alot with 325 parts, keeping playability over a long time. Until next week!

I got called into work today so that cost me 8 hours too! Grah! How will I get all this stuff done? *Rushes off to build*

    My ugly mug

Well since this will be my first blog entry under the personal life category its time I elaborate on it!

My everyday life is that of your normal boring adult, get up and go to work, come home have dinner and go to bed. I am not your normal adult though as many tell me I am just like a big kid! At 26 years old I find my intrest in Bionicle and MoCing to be at an all time high. Video games are also a big part of my personal life as I am a huge gamer. I own just about every console and handheld ever made clear back to the Atari 2600, though I am a bit of a retro gamer who chooses to live in the past playing my Legend of Zelda and other NES games. I have been playing alot of Metroid Hunters lately, thanks to finding good friends like Kohaku, Alku and Kinali here at BZP. Sports have always been a mainstay of mine. I like most all kinds but I enjoy actually playing only Basketball and Football. I do a bit of collecting also, mostly coins but I do have a few swords which I also collect. I have a big thing for weaponry I suppose.

My family is also a big part of my personal life, my girlfriend and daughter bring me a smile everyday. My little girl always goes on about how she is lucky to have a dad who enjoys building Lego Bricks with her. She has even helped me on a few of my recent MoCs! I am hopeful she will follow in her old mans footsteps and become an accomplished MoCist.

Work is also a big part of this life of mine, without it I would not have such a huge lego and video game collection. I work in a gas station, we do propane, espresso and stuff like that. The money is good but like most jobs it can get boring and tiresome, enjoy your youth while you can guys! I hope this entry gives you all a bit more perspective on me, I am really just a big kid underneath this beard .

The best dang frozen pizza ever, you will need.

1 Frozen Pizza (DiGiorno is the best)
    1 Pack of microwave bacon
    1 Slice of Mozzarella cheese

Place the bacon on the pizza, then add the cheese. Nuke for 3 minutes and you will have a tasty treat. Okay so I probably did not invent it, but it was so good I had to share.

Star Fox 64, it has become an obsession of mine again. I was rather proud of these, I have still got to unlock Expert mode by obtaining all the medals. Some are very hard to get.

Update, 1500+ baby! On Expert mode at that, the last pic there is the proof. That screen only appears when you beat the game on expert mode.

The long arm of the law...

    6386 Police Command Base

Description: Released in 1986 for a retail price of about 30 dollars, this can be purchased today MISB for about 200 bucks. Containing 365 parts and 4 minifigs, this set was one of the earlier police sets. Rather basic but at the same time there was plenty of play-ability to be had with it.

My take: I think I had this set, forgive me my memory from the mid 80s is a bit hazy in my old age. I seem to remember playing with the helicopter. I thought the whole landing pad thing was pretty neat, there are a few interior details also, of course they can be jazzed up a bit with some of your own parts and stuff. The cell is quite, plain and a bit cramped, I sure would not want to be stuck in it!

So I was watching Larry King tonight, they had a panel of high ranking government officials on claiming they each had an encounter with UFOs. They have said the United States government remains reclusive on the subject, though France, Brazil and China have released information confirming the existance of UFOs. They claim the US plans to weaponize space and views them as threats to society and religion, hence the classification of information. Upon the release of this info in the other countries, there was panic and the infrastructure (internet, telephone) was overloaded with curious people. Even the Vatican, perhaps the center of christianity views UFOs as real.

Several videos and reports were quite convincing to me, I do believe that we are not alone in the universe, it is so huge, how could we be the only intelligent life? I have never had any kind of sighting or encounter with a UFO, but there is just too much information out there to dismiss it. Indeed, I believe the people would panic and religion would be thrown into turmoil if this info was made public and proof of UFOs was revealed. Perhaps the government is waiting for the proper time, I do not think society is ready for these things yet myself.

So I ask you, do you believe there is life beyond the stars? Truly a facinating subject. I leave you with some images of UFO sightings over Europe, the US and other locations. The last 2 images are more recent ones.

Today I am going to make my fireworks run, probably gonna spend about 30-50 bucks on them. I plan on getting artillery shells for sure, they are my favorite kind of fireworks. Also Im gonna pick up some colored sparklers and fountians for the kid, maybe even some of the saturn missile battery packs. Pics of the haul will be uploaded later today so stay tuned!

As promised, my haul, only got my favorite pyrotechnics. Not much, but I spent 30 bucks on it. Those are the biggest sparklers I have ever seen!:

What kind of stuff do you plan on buying for the holiday?
