    Epic

    For a longer time then any of you could imagine I’ve wanted to write a Bionicle epic. If it weren’t for my procrastinating nature and low self-esteem, it would’ve been written years ago. However, as a writer, my style has matured and new ideas have been planted in my mind. These blog entries also help me out and I’m taking them slightly more serious because they’re an excellent exercise for writing down things that just pop up in your head.
     
    Anyway, I’ve long read many stories by BZP’s elite writers and envied them as well. For they can kick it in gear and actually write down a story, while I merely sit back and say I’m going to do it, but push things back when I feel like it. This will be no more. I’m giving myself a goal. My mother has always said goals would organize my rather chaotic life more then it is already.
     
    I want to write an epic by November, the same time that NanoWrimo will begin. I’ll try and fit this in with my schedule, but I don’t plan to back down. Even if it is the most utterly, stupid piece of fanfiction you’ve read, I will be proud. That I finally managed to get my lazy butt up and put my ideas on paper.

    Taking advantage of the popularity of RPG programs, I’ve decided to create WDYT. Not a challenge or some type of award show. I’m simply going to ask a question (RPG-related) and listen to your opinions on it. I’ll try to ask a question each day, if people actually like this.

    Let's Go On A Adventure!

    So yeah, not much happened today at school. I got a note from the office that I supposed to give to my mother. I did since I'm a good boy . I really just wanted to get the day over with. I mean the lessons weren't even interesting. Seemed like nobody really cared today and were just dragging themselves around.
     
    Then when I got home, there was a PM waiting for me.
     
    Then the storm hit. Hail, rain, and lightning. Had to turn off the computer for a short amount of time, *shrug*. Then it stopped. Now it is storming again. Sigh, I thought it had left.
     
    As for my novel Eagle's Nest, I've got some interesting new ideas. I've considered having a urban fantasy series set in Harlem. Would be heavily influenced by jazz and a lot of black culture. I also am more interested in creating my own world then before. It just sounds so fun.
     
    I also need to get some sketches done for a lot of characters.
     
    Yeah, boring blog entry.

    Diggin' In My Nose

    SO, I joined a Resistance Divided because of a suggestion by Rockhound and a little thinking on my own part. I only have one character right now and he’s quite interesting IMO. You see, he’s a deconstruction of a healer. Driven mad by heroes rushing out on the battlefield and getting themselves injured, he has turned evil and now hurts the people he use to save. But he does it in a pretty cool way. By using magic, he can transfer his own wounds and scars on to other people, thus healing him but harming others. As you can see, it has its uses and I will enjoy playing as this evil madman.
     
    I’m also rather angry about my Drama class. You see, we’ve got a play tomorrow and I’m a police officer. Wasn’t sure what to wear exactly since this is set in the past and I’ve been asking all week. Then teacher tells me about my outfit on the day before the play! I wouldn’t be so angry if the costume wasn’t so hard to find! And now my mom is angry for telling her late.
    I’m sort of cheered up by the fact that me and the golf team will be going to a golf course on Saturday. Should be fun and I need the experience.
     
    Then I celebrated my brother’s birthday.

    I Need To Read Something.

    Years ago, I lurked the epic forum, reading nearly everything I could find. Over time though, my interests changed and I started to RP more. Combined with a lack of interest in the canonical Bionicle storyline, this was enough to make me stay out of all sections except the CoT and BRPG forum.
     
    However, my interest in the other forums and Bionicle in general has peaked. I've always loved writing and I look up to the best, striving to better myself. So I browsed the epic forum. So many great stories!
     
    So I would like a few suggestions on what to read.

    So for the next few weeks, I will be experimenting with my RPing style and by extension writing style. Yunno, trying out some new things, using new words, and writing differently. Basically, I want to create my own unique style of writing/RPing.

    My First Rant!

    Rant on One Dimensional Chars in RPGs
     
    So I’m like really bored and I haven’t been using my blog. I was browsing the internet and ran across the really cool Fantasy rants. It gave me an idea. Why don’t I rant about things? I’m pretty sure nobody cares, but hey. I’ve got nothing else to do with this blog.
     
    1. Why one dimensional character is bad. Simple. Just like how I described that in one word, a one dimensional character can be described easily with just one word. A character shouldn’t be able to be described in word like a bad guy who can be summed up by saying evil or dastardly. If your char can be described in just one word, then you have serious problems. A character is more then just a trait given life. It is your duty as a write to flesh the character out, give him more traits that clash with his. Nobody has a main trait. Their personality is built out of many traits working together.
     
    I’m not saying that I’m an expert on this, but I do know a lot about it. How? Simply because I’ve created a lot of one dimensional characters. Recently, people have been telling me that my new characters are a lot more interesting, mainly because their not one dimensional.
     
    2. They don’t get more dimensions. I hate when characters don’t change, but I especially hate a one dimensional char who keeps one dimension. No matter what they go through, that one trait never evolves or changes. This is ridiculous in stories, but even more ridiculous and stupid in RPGs. When a character interacts with others they automatically change views and understand things more. Just like in real life when you meet new friends and learn interesting things from them. This is part of character development, which is essential IMO to become not only an excellent RPer, but a good writer.
     
    Just like the previous part, I have the same problem as well. Although I am better at character development and exploring a character more, I still create characters like this. It’s not necessarily bad though. Some characters are pure fun, like Flavor Dingo. He is a pink Rahkshi and probably won’t be given a complex history or anything. However, I even explore his ridiculous thoughts and reactions.
     
    Relatively short rant, so sorry if you guys want more. I hope to get better at this as I go along. However, I do hope these little tidbits helped.

    Colorful Explosionz

    So I went back to school today. It was the same idiocy, vulgarity, and somewhat funny moments as usual. However, most people had gone to see Avatar over the break so I had something to talk about. Funny thing is a lot of people didn’t even understand the movie at all. To them it was just pretty colors, explosions, and action. I didn’t really care. At least I had something to discuss.
     
    Well anyway, I was trying to come up with a Bounty Hunter for the BZPRPG at school and I realized it’s hard as heck to come up with good ideas in a place with constant chatter and horse-playing. Hopefully I’ll be able to come up with a good idea for my Bounty Hunter character tonight because I need to go after a few bounties.
     
    Oh and one of my teachers gave us a load of work on our first day back. I’m already finished it though, because I know said teacher never gives us a break day and had finished the next lesson over the break. I will be going over it though using the information he gave us in class.
     
    So yeah, I might or might not make some more blog entries today.

    The movie was great. One of my favorite scenes was at the end of the movie when Jake/Neytiri were fighting the Colonel.
     
    Speaking of the colonel, Quatrich was a great villain. It was sort of ridiculous how he survived nearly everything, but then it was just cancelled out by his awesomeness.

    Well after the second snow storm, I found out tonight that school is cancelled for tomorrow once again! I also found out that in seven more days....

    I'm another person rooting for this element. If we can have Psionics (although I like the attempt, this is not even a force of nature), we should have Kinetics. So yeah, kinetics all the way!

    • Continue to work on book ideas. I don’t care what happens or how long it takes me to get there, I will be a writer.

    • Work on a few character profiles and my existing ones. No, they aren’t finish yet.

    But Blizzards keep on happening down here like crazy! Which is very rare in my town. This is the second one since Christmas eve and day. More ice then the last time though. Hopefully, this will be the last one!

    Okay, I've never watched BSG. I decided to watch the prequel first, and then watch BSG. Just to be safe.
     
    Anyway, this show is awesome. It worked so well that it seemed like it had no connection to BSG until lil' Adama showed up and the first Cylon was created.
     
    All of the actors were very good. The best IMO was the guy playing lil' Adama's daddy.
     
    Plot so far is interesting. We've got a terrorist group, Cylons, and opposing religious views. Yeah, the Cylons are the only thing not like that in real life.
     
    I look forward to the next episode though.

    Well, this is what I got done yesterday in an entire day.

    Enjoyed my Saturday. Cleaned up my room. Watched the first episode of Firefly. I suggest you do the same. Added some stuff to my epic. Came up with a few new ideas for Eagle’s Nest. Had a few AIM chats. Wrote me a SS. Not sure if it is good though.

    • Develop new epic idea, which has now been named The Last Collection of Bionicle.
    • Continue developing Eagle’s Nest and get some input on some of ideas in the Writer’s topic.
    • Maybeeeeeee do some stuff in RPGs.
    • Do a few sketches of Amellus.
    • Always open for a AIM chat!
    • Create story arcs and plan a few things out in the BZPRPG.
    • Introduce my duo of Toa; Felixia and Liohul in the BZPRPG.
    • Write a SS if ever get the time.
    • Read some epics.

    A lot of stuff from old list is on here because I didn’t around to doing it yesterday. Will post a new entry by the end of the day, detailing everything I got done.

    I have Writer's Block or RPer's block or whatever you call it. No matter what, I can't seem to write any decent thing down. This is mainly why I've had this spurt of inactivity in RPGs. I can only come up with new characters for some reason and the only thing I really write now are blog entries and random posts.

    I also love blogging for some reason. Even when people don't post comments, it's fun to blog.

    • Get caught up in AMR.
    • Finish two new AMR chars, which will round out all four of my characters.
    • Write up my Mega-Corp for AMR.
    • Write up a character for the DoD (YOU STOLE MY NAME! ).
    • Countless other things which will pop up today.
