    -VOTING-

    Time's up!

What does this mean? What happens now? Well, easy: voting.

    "How does this work?"

You review the list of entries listed below, pick your favourites, and then list the top three, in your opinion, in order that you like them. Once the voting ends at midnight on the 18th, PST, the top three voted entries will be carefully milled over by my staff and I and we will decide on which one to print, based on cost and ease of printing. We will try to adhere to the ranking of the voting, though, so if the #1 winner is easy to make, we'll do it.

The winner gets to have a free shirt, and he or she can either pick it up at a convention or get it mailed before a convention and before everybody else, for that matter.

Here are your options. When picking, just list the number of the entry you're voting for.

    1. just cherixon (First entry, image one)

    2. just cherixon (Second entry, image one) (Second entry, image two)

    3. Moist! (Entry image) Note: I am aware this has two colours in it, but I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt for now since he is last year's winner. We'll figure out what to do about it once/if he wins.

    4. tent163phantoka:spaz sheep (Entry image)

    5. Swert (Entry, image one) (Entry, image two)

    6. Vezok's Friend (Entry image) (Variant image)

    7. Brave Dragon (Entry image)

    8. Celu (First entry image)

    9. Celu (Second entry image)

    10. ~Legion~ (Entry image)

    11. HAZMAT (Entry image)

And there you have it! Vote now, wear later. ;D

    Announcing...

That's right folks. The smash hit from last year that got rrrraaaavveee reviews at BrickFair is returning for another season! EW-TV exec EW has decided to fund this wonderful show.

For those of you who don't know much about this, here's the gist. In late 2009, a few members decided to take matters into their own hands and create a T-Shirt specifically for other members, since the staff has their own shirts to distinguish them. The idea was simple: the members design the shirts and then vote on their favorites, encouraging and testing their ideas and imaginations. The winner gets to have his design printed (by Bionicle Raptor) and then sold to anyone who orders them or stops by at the select conventions the shirts will be at!

In addition, there might be some really really cool prizes other than having your shirt produced, but more on that at a later date!

    Rules and Regs:

    1. Designs can be in any form, really. Use a shirt template, use a blank white square, I don't really care. You can use pretty much any editing software or medium to do it, too! (MS Paint, Sketchbook, GIMP, Photoshop, hand drawn sketch on a paper plate, tattoo on your chest.)

    2. Your design should be on either the front or back, but it cannot be on both sides or include the sleeves. Those are both hard to do and more expensive.

    3. You can choose any colour you want. We may change it at the production stage, but will try to remain true to your vision. You can choose one colour only and only one colour you may choose!~ More than one will be too expensive. With that in mind, the design should be clear enough for people to see, and you can choose the colour of the shirt. Last year's design was white print on blue and green shirts. It worked well and is like what we want this year.

    4. Your designs can be anything you want if it is pertinent to BZPower and/or Bionicle! No restrictions! So long as it follows the above pointers. However, nothing too complex. It won't be disqualified but we will have final say after the polls close.

    5. It must be your original design. No Galactic Imperial emblem or Old Spice banners, although integrating Isaiah Mustafa in it is a-ok.

    FAQ:

Q: Can I put my name in the design (so people know who made it)?
A: No. Trust me, people will know who made the design.

Q: Are there specific colours we're limited to?
A: No. See rule #3 above.

Q: Can I submit multiple designs?
A: Yes! The more the merrier. Keep in mind that only one design will win in the end, though.

Q: When are all submissions due?
A: See end of entry below.

Q: Do I submit designs here?
A: No. This is the discussion entry. Submissions are to be posted in the Submissions Entry. All submissions in this entry will be deleted.

Q: Can staff submit designs, too?
A: Let me put it this way: If you're in a member group on BZPower, you're able to submit something.

All submissions are due by March 12th. This date is flexible, but it will likely not be any later than that! So what are you waiting for? Get to it! Remember, this is a MEMBER'S T-SHIRT, and it's not possible without the MEMBER'S involvement!

I've been known to be able to take the most silly and underestimated archtypes of characters and make them actually work. From the good Makuta to the super-badposterior evil chick, to the immature goddess, I've proven to be able to make volatile stuff workable literary characters.

Vakama has been through a lot in the story. From jaded storyteller to highflying toa-hero, from mini me to mutated freak, from unsure leader to insecure traitor. Vakama's been ridiculed, twisted, contorted, made fun of and more. Folks, the point is Vakama's been the sterotyped as the middle-aged emo, and that's just wrong.

This new BZPRPG chapter, I'll have a new character that will be insecure, unsure, belittled and ignored, and he will complain about things. A lot. But the thing is that even though he is a whiner, a loser, and depressed, he will actually work, and you'll see. In a couple days, I'll have a short story up detailing his beginnings.

    Let the coaster roll.

On a scale of 1-10, 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, how special am I to your heart/aka you like me?

I'm just curious, and the little fad of these entries popping up justifies this slightly and makes me look a bit less conceited. XP

I loomed forward to this movie for months before it even came out on the big screen. I rubbed my hands in anxiety for it to be on DVD. And now I have finally seen it. I was enthralled. I was excited. I was utterly amazed and my eyes filled with glee and my ears flooded with ecstasy. I watched the movie trailers over and over, and I got the trailer music, too. Then, last night, I finally went ahead and rented the movie for myself.

And I fell in love. <3

In all regards and aspects, the movie was simply amazing. The graphics were unbelievable to the point of being believable. Arthur's tumbler fight scene was certainly one of the most spectacular woks I've seen; maybe it was undramatic in the making, but it was so darn enjoyable on the screen that I simply couldn't help but grin in glee (an action of mine which displays the utmost level of excitement).

The music was phenomenal. Hanz Zimmer blows me away with every work of music he makes, and this score was certainly no exception. The pounding bass had me riveted as much as the movie itself, particularly at the final kicking scene.

Speaking of which, the movie had me falling with more emotion that happiness. It managed to touch me in another level: the final fortress scene when Fischer is at his father's bedside in the vault had me crying. That part, with the music fused, brought back memories of when I was at my own father's deathbed, and similarities between the character of Robert Fischer and myself were being drawn in my mind. The ability to seemingly "share" the emotions between the movie and my own experiences-- that's something I so rarely find in films.

All in all, this movie delivered past my expectations. Mindscrew begone, I understood the movie in my own special way. That's how movies are supposed to be interpreted, anyway; like music, they all have meanings we initiate on our own, much like the inception in Fischer's mind blossomed into his own reality. It's weaving films like this that I dig the most, and if it has Hans Zimmer at the musical wand, I'm even more excited.

More for my reference than anything, feel free to comment on something you find interesting or whatever.

    Leklo Hakobar
Inspired for the most part by Captain Mal of Serenity for the second year in a row. The song Real Life by Tanlines is also a huuuuge inspiration. He has a shady past, and the lyrics to the song prove that. And you might think I'm still that way / It's only natural / It was a past life thing / It was a past life thing / It wasn't anything at all. His horrible former life was also gleaned from movies I've watched.

    Nakaii Hakobar
Actually the very first toa I ever created in fan art. In the original toa team of my invention, Nakaii and Leklo were brothers, and Nakaii was the team's tactical leader (this was wayy before Nikila was ever revealed) and Leklo was the most powerful warrior of the team. Nakaii was a Toa of Air back then just as he is now, but Leklo was a Toa of Ice. Truly no other inspiration for him than what my memory gives me.

    Calibran Shays
The idea of a Matoran of Stone as master of the winds on a sailing ship was amusing to me, especially since his strength and resolve would be hard to prove as a matoran in a toa tea. He was imspired for the most part by my subconscious, I think, in that he will surpass all odds to succeed and will stop at nothing to finish a job.

    Zaria Sojak
The last name is a corruption of Pat Sajak of Wheel of Fortune fame, lol. She's modeled after the character of Abby Maitland from the British science fiction series Primeval. The dynamic and mistrust the crewmates have of her sprang from elemental superiority, courtesy of Poke'mon. XD

    Chamino
In a league similar to Zaria, Chamio was modeled to be a disliked character but tolerated by the crew nonetheless. He was based off of numerous archetypes of old geezers and is a hybrid of all the bad stuff in all the original Turaga Mata.

    Baju Perous
This character, a Toa of Gravity, was hugely inspired by the zero-gravity hallway fight from Inception. I haven't done anything with him yet, but you'll see what I mean later on.

Alocha aka LustAside from the obvious source of Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist, Alocha was based off of the character Lucifer from the TV series Supernatural. The scene of Lucifer completely massacring the pagan gods in the episode Hammer of the Gods was a particular inspiration, since Alocha is basically an "evil angel" and Lucifer used pure physical power to outdo the majority of the deities, and Alocha's main ability is her strength.

    Antrim Glasglow
His name comes from Irish landmarks and cities, while his personality is derived from the character of Eli from the movie The Book of Eli and has some knight Templar qualities, though they aren't evident just yet. His twisted nature comes from the Evil Godfather tropes, where someone mentors another person, slowly wearing the morals down.

I don't celebrate Christmas in the least, but I guess it's worth mentioning that I got a new computer a couple days ago. It's a shiny new 13" 2.66 GHz MacBook Pro. Good bye you dumb Gateway PC laptop! =D

I also got myself a Nerf Stampede. Pretty impressive piece of Nerf technology. =3

I was supposed to get my braces off months ago. The right side is fine, but the left side isn't totally done, but the doctors said they can't totally fix that side to begin with! It's fine as it is, I say! Furthermore, they gave me rubber bands to wear for the last couple months to correct that side and it never budged. Soooo... what's the solution? Give up? Nooooo.

They give me a huge spring in my mouth. And it can't be removed.

    And it hurts.

    And will obstruct my eating.

It's like a pair of heavy duty rubber bands perma-placed in one location in the jaw.

    Raaargh.

I've concluded my laptop had decided to be an oddly-shaped brick permanently. Sadface! :( Now I need to finish two essays on mom's PC that has an absolutely cumbersome keyboard that I am terrible at typing on. They're due Monday, too. Blarghasdfg.

OH! My Eagle Scout Court of Honor is tomorrow, too! You all are invited. Please come!

    Also, Spink, Necro, HURRY IT UP IN KAEN! Face it, stubborn enemy general and loyal overprotective nurse do not make a good combination for negotiations. ;_;

... And mom's freaking out about it all. "Call the college to see if they closed! They do it sometimes," she says.

"It's really just a dusting," I reply, and she surrenders her point.

Nevertheless, it's pretty cool outside in both definitions of the word. A shame that all this sugar will melt by noon.

My laptop and I have been through a lot, and all things considered, I'm surprised it's even intact now. But we also have a love/hate relationship going. There have been times it won't start, when everything disappears, when it refuses to budge, or just plain drives me crazy with its little games. But now it refuses to boot. It's just a black screen with the cursor. Here's a screenshot.

Essentially, my computer's as good as a brick right now. Again. I've tried everything from Last Successful Boot to Safe Mode, to all sorts of other things and nothing's worked. Any ideas to fix it are greatly appreciated. Please.

I was looking through my hand-me-down box of clothes stowed in the attic, and I found a few articles of clothing given to me by family friends from a few years ago. The stuff was too big for me then, but fits perfectly now.

Among those things is a wonderful, wonderful geeky shirt. See, it's gray. Dark gray. It's flat (seriously, even the pleats are flat!) and straight-cut. It fits extra snugly, which I like, and the biggest feature are the two silver zippers for the chest pockets. Even better, it matches seamlessly with my wardrobe favourites. This is one shirt I shall take to BrickCon because I love it so.

Also, going on a quick bike ride tomorrow evening. Been a while, and the last time I rode I had a huge biff that left scars that persist on my body to this day. That was over three years ago. >.<
